Rachael Ray Curses And Other Great Secrets From The Set

I got back from The Rachael Ray Show taping about an hour ago. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any super-juicy gossip before I spent some time writing about my day with Miss Rachael. If you are interested in reading this personal post, click on the continue reading link below.

So it was a 9:30 call time and I was super excited. My mother, aunt and I got there about 9:15 and the line was already 70 deep. We took our place and then waited. I saw some people talking to the chicks with the boards so I went to confirm my spot. She called us in to the front of the line. I was like 'LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' Everyone was so mad! I think it was because I was one of the younger people in the crowd. We got placed inside away from the rest which was nice. We waited for a few minutes and I noticed my feet were sticking to the ground a bit. I thought I stepped on gum but it was paint. They just painted the floors the night before and it hadn't dried yet! So my shoes have grey paint all under them.
Blah, Blah Blah - security check, free bagels and muffins, bathroom break, announcements - now the good stuff. We get seated in the third row. I am in the aisle seat. YEAH! The set rotates which wasn't cool for me because I get motion sickness very easily. But I kept my eyes focused everytime we flipped around and I was okay.
Before the show began, a warm up guy came out to get us excited. They were giving away prizes and when he asked for a volunteer - I JUMPED. I had to guess a song and ended up winning a full Redkin hair care product line. I was super excited because I just bought Nexxus conditioner and it is HORRIBLE.

Here comes Rachael!

First of all - she is shorter than you think and PRETTIER than you think. In fact, with all her make up, I really thought she was beautiful. I couldn't believe it. She said hello quickly and we began filming.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra was there. They sang one song and handed out some free cds. They smiled, took a picture with Rachael and broke out.

Then some chick from Websters Dictionary came out and told Rachael that EVOO is now officially in the dictionary! I was like WHAT???? That isn't even a word? If EVOO can get in, then why not BRB, TTYL, or LOL? You all know what I am saying when I write those terms. I can guarantee that a million more people use those terms than EVOO. But she got a certificate and everyone cheered. As our reward, we all got a bottle of Rachael's EVOO. That was cool too because I am also out of olive oil. Wow, I sound ghetto right?
We got some free chocolate truffle covered pretzels. And a bag from Orbitz. They kept on saying how lucky we were to get so many free things. I don't watch the show so I don't know if that is true or not.

One more thing - the couple from Little People, Big Lives were there. Rachael showed them how to make a great recipe involving chicken, potatoes, and paprika. You can't beat that. Although she kept saying "Mnnnn, can you smell that" and the audience would cheer - no one could smell that. But I took her word for it.

NOW THE JUICE ON RACHAEL:

  • A camera man was too close to her aiming down and she goes: 'Oh Great - All I need is this camera man shooting my a$$'. Everyone gasped. She was like 'What you don't think I curse?'

  • She had to do a retake and some people giggled because she messed up AND SHE GOES, "Oh get over it. All you have to do is clap again" She wasn't joking either. There was no giggle in the end or anything to show it was a joke. My mother thought she was joking - I didn't.

  • The cameras went off after she said a segment and she was angry because she liked how it came out. So she said, "What's wrong with you guys? That was perfect! Now I have to do it again." In other words, she isn't as chippery as she seems.

  • Lastly, we were taping a segment with Judy Chen who wasn't there. She asked the video guy - "What was it that Judy said last week that was the beauty item we should all have?" THEN she said " Ah, who really cares what she said?" Everyone started laughing and she said "Seriously, does anyone care what she said?"

So in closing, the stress is getting to her. She isn't as happy and friendly as you think. She is prettier than you think. The set is nicer BUT smaller than you think. It fits only about 115 people. The spinning thing isn't as fun as you think. The food doesn't smell as strong as you think. And it's hard work clapping and pretending to care about things that aren't even there (eg. Judy Chen's beauty advice)! The whole thing took about 4 hours.
I had a great time though. I always love freebies! I almost threw her my business card. But this really isn't a Rachael Ray friendly site. So I decided against it. I am going to be on two shows. One with the Brian Setzer orchestra and one with the Little People, Big World couple. It should air in the next few weeks. I have Tivo'd her show. So I will catch it for sure.

I agree with #13!
Always seemed a bit over the top bubbly...I suspect old girl may not have professional chef credentials but she commands her due!

I think I would have cried if wynonna was my guest. I LOVE her. I listen to her version of "I want to know what love is" like everyday.

She sang it on Oprah and it just moved me!

sounds like most of you are quite jealous.... shes gorgeous, talented, smart, and most of all REAL so get over it. as far as i am concerned, if you dont like her than you are bringing it upon yourself to be annoyed by watching her so stop complaining!for example i dont watch her but my girlfriend does. oh and as for RC number 26 there is no vital revalence to bush and rachel ray oh, and learn to spell.
