In theaters this Friday:
· The Painted Veil - ”PG-13 - ”a remake of the 1934 movie starring Greta Garbo, it's based on W. Somerset Maugham's novel set in China in the 1920s. Naomi Watts plays the unhappy wife of a doctor played by Edward Norton. When she falls in love with someone else, her husband takes her along to a remote village in China to fight a cholera epidemic.
· The Hitcher - ”R - ”a reminder to never pick up strangers. This is a remake of the 1986 horror flick. In this version it's a young couple on their way to spring break that picks up the mysterious hitchhiker, John Ryder. They fight back when he attacks them, but that's not the end of their terrifying journey as he continues to stalk them.
New DVD releases:
· Employee of the Month - ”Jessica Simpson and comedian Dane Cook star in this comedy set at a Costco. When the guys who work at the store find out the hottest woman on the staff (Simpson) has a thing for the "employee of the month," they all try to outdo each other to win the title.
· The Gridiron Gang - ” Sean Porter [a.k.a. The Rock] stars in this true tale of a juvenile detention center probation officer determined to bring the young inmates together both on and off the football field and prove that everyone - “ even violent offenders - “ can benefit from a little direction and a second chance.
· Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - ”this prequel to 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Mascara looks at the makings of the monster cannibal known as "Leatherface.'

New CD releases:
· I Love You - ”Diana Ross - ”a collection of classic love songs plus one original song, the title track, which was written especially for Ross.
· Here & Now - ”America - ”a new double CD from the folk rock group hot in the 70s and 80s. The first disc is all new music, including collaborations with artists like Ryan Adams, Nada Surf and My Morning Jacket. The second is a recording of the band's live performance of its greatest hits on XM satellite radio.
· Romance: Songs from the Heart - ”Frank Sinatra - ”21 classic Sinatra love songs from the Capitol years (1953-1961). All of the songs are digitally re-mastered from the original studio tapes and the CD includes never before released versions of "Nice "N' Easy" and "If You Are But A Dream."
In book stores:
· Bad Blood by Linda Fairstein - ” Manhattan prosecutor Alexandra Cooper returns in this ninth edition of Linda Fairstein's bestselling series. Her case against young business mogul Brendan Quillian is about to fall apart when her star witness admits to having an affair with the defendant under cross examination. Then matters are complicated by a deadly explosion in the city's new water tunnel. As she starts to put everything together, Alexandra begins to think the murder of Quillian's wife may only be the tip of the iceberg.
· Breakpoint by Richard A. Clarke - ” The former counterterrorism chief takes a look at what might come next in his second novel. Set in 2012, the futuristic thriller sets US officials against cyberspace terrorists.
· Dust by Martha Grimes - ”Scotland Yard superintendent Richard Jury is called in to solve the case when a wealthy bachelor, with a penchant for all things WWII, is found murdered in a hotel room. Beautiful Detective Inspector Lu Aguilar takes over the case and she and Jury begin a steamy love affair. But the case that brought them together turns up more questions than answers, like: why was the victim staying in the historic home of author Henry James? Who was he waiting for at the hotel? When the woman seeks him out, she and Stem begin an affair. But he soon finds himself being stalked relentlessly by the woman when he tries to end the relationship.
