“I get all emotional… I just found out, and, when you’re just finding out about something, it takes a second to get used to it. (There was) no eye contact. He didn’t play along with his brother; he would play at his side. All the kids would be in the house; he would be away from them.
He had to have an order, always an order – he had to eat on the red plate with the Mickey Mouse fork, everything had to be in order. He had to sit on the left side, always.”

Poor Toni. I saw this episode of the View and it broke my heart. Her son was only diagnosed a few months ago and you could really tell she was quite emotional about it.

I knew almost at 10 months old that something was wrong, but my son’s symptoms were much more subtle. He just wouldn’t talk. He walked much earlier than his brother and his motor skills developed quickly, but his cognitive development was delayed. I just felt so helpless and afraid for him. I think my biggest fear then and now was who would care for him if I was gone. How would they know him like I do. Who would be patient enough to love him in spite of his limitations. I still worry about that. Dionne
