I just got back from the hospital and once again, I got bad news. Last week was great. So I expected (hoped) that this week would follow in the trend. Instead, my cervix has shrunk back down to 2 cm. The strangest part about it was as the doctor was explaining the issues, my cervix slowly began to gain length. She then said that I have what's called a dynamic cervix - which means it fluctuates continuously throughout the day. It's not so great because there is no real way to measure progress. I was sent home with strict orders to not move and with a prescription to stop contractions. Apparently I might be having contractions without being aware of them. This could be a reason why my cervix is moving around so much. If she doesn't see progress by this Friday, then I have to have an operation where my cervix gets stitched closed.
I'm shocked! I was expecting rave reviews. But I guess it might be my fault a bit. I have been getting up more than I should. But what can I do when my daughter comes over to me with a book? I have to sit up and read it to her. Unfortunately, not after today. I have to remind myself that I am not being a bad mommy. I am doing what is best for my growing family. I will just have to read it to her while I am sideways.
And I just feel terrible about my poor husband. He is running around like a chicken without a head. It's getting to him for sure. But he keeps on telling me to lean on him. So I should just shut up and take the help.
18 weeks, 5 days
In other news, I find out the gender of the baby this Friday. So I guess that is something to look forward to.

sorry to hear this. I was sure that after last week, everything would be smoother sailing. Just rest up, take care, and know that this too will eventually be over and well worth it.

Hang in there, Vera. Think positively. Say "I have a wide cervix" and "I have a happy, health baby." Put it out there and it will be yours.

OMG, this is so scary. Look, just do what the docs tell you. Your hubby is there for you, and your daughter will understand, if not now, then in time. Take care of yourself, and DO NOT MOVE!

So sorry sweetheart (((((((((big hug)))))))) I know you worry about your daughter, but she will be ok. It gives her a chance to be mommys helper. You will all 4 get through this, and someday you will be able to use this experience to encourage someone else going through it.
