I know that while some of the guys at my school are good looking i don't like any of them anywhere near as much as the good looking teachers appeal to me (and its 10 times better/worse when they were/are MY teacher) its just one of those careers that are appealing for some reason ... it may be the authority o//o, either way women love male teachers, men love female teachers, its odd how such a respectful and honorable job is so attractive to others and usually not for reasons that are any where near as innocent as a respectable career.
