MeMe Roth of the National Action Against Obesity has been receiving death threats ever since her appearance on Fox TV where she claimed that Jordin Sparks is the vision of “unhealth”. She insists her view was sensationalized but is standing by the fact that Jordin needs to lose weight.
“When I look at Jordin I see diabetes, I see heart disease, I see high cholesterol,” Roth said. “That’s what’s so sad about this – ” she is not the vision of health – ” she is the vision of “unhealth.’”
Roth further tells the Scoop she admires the 17-year-old singer’s talent and “effervescent personality” but adds that “her extra weight is a reflection of today’s society and a culture where many of our children have compromised health due to unhealthful food choices and inactivity … We have to stop with the “baby fat,’ “curvy,’ “goddess’ euphemisms and own this child health crisis.”
I mean is Jordin THAT heavy? She probably represents the American standard. I can understand that it would be a healthier decision to lose some weight. BUT why wasn’t MeMe making the rounds when Ruben was our American Idol focus? Why is she coming out and talking about a teenager’s weight issues instead? I completely understand her point – BUT don’t want to promote eating disorders either. This is a touchy topic and I think MeMe should have went after someone a bit older.

sorry about posting that twice… hehe. oops.
Ooh, I just thought of something! Maybe MeMe is such an idiot that she actually mistook Lakisha for Jordin!
Lakisha could stand to lose a few, perhaps through martial arts paired with a yoga routine.

She’s black and big and ugly. Let’s just call a spade a spade.
WTF!! Racist piece of trash!
the girl is beautiful….not only on the outside but she seems to be on the inside, too. leave her alone. she is gorgeous just the way she is.
im not too sure what this is called but
when i look in the mirror at myself i feel that i look huge
and my friends/family tell me im slim and have nothing to worry about
but whatever anybody sais i still feel the same way
i know its not anorexia because i still eat
im confused.
This is ridiculous. I bet my right arm that she has a BMI that is between 20-25. Which means she has a healthy weight.
Like we say here: Only in America….
Uh, I do agree that this girl is chunky and needs to lose some flab… but that comment was ridiculous.
Also, how the hell do we know what this girl eats? Why are we talking abuot how she needs to improve her eating habits? For all we know she could be eating the healthiest foods in the world… just excessively.
Ann:
You are ridiculous. Would you rather she looked like Nicole R.?
It is the American standard to be obsessed with weight, weither it is overweight or underweight. That MeMe person is just adding to the huge problem of bodydismorphia that is such a problem now a days.
It would be one thing to speak of obesity, high cholesteral, heart disease, etc in young adults and teenagers….because it is a serious issue today, but to pin point ONE person in the spot light to use as your example….she needs to go work for a tabloid mag that does things to get in the spotlight and the most sales. COME ON!!!
It is the American standard to be obsessed with weight, weither it is overweight or underweight. That MeMe person is just adding to the huge problem of bodydismorphia with our youth. I say we love ourselves no matter what. Strive to be healthy, just plain healthy.
texas finest every one does not have the same bone structure when i compare my to some of mt friends there is a definate difference and she is not obese, if you want to see what that if check out Big Medicine on TLC where people are over 700lbs
texas finest, you are delusional. Obesity is considered a healthy lifestyle? What color is the sky on your planet? Jordin just looks big next to those dwarves Ryan and Blake.
Meme Roth clearly has some type of psychological disorder. She is an outright bigot. How can you issue an opinion on a person’s medical condition by looking at them. Resist the Cult of the emaciated!
