In, I completely agree with you! I am still waiting for the WET channel and the WET awards...LOL. Like that would EVER happen. All the white people would be called racist and there would be total upheaval! It would probably lead to riots in the streets. Sorry, hun, but we are just going to have accept that this is the way it is. Sad state that it might be.

I think that it is just plain ridiculous that people forget that for so many years blacks did not a platform for their music. This is why BET was created so that people of color would have a platform. Let us not forget that Michael Jackson had to threaten to sue MTV before his videos were even played. Wake up people it was not that long ago!
Man, I feel bad for Kelly. She was always my favorite DC member. I def. agree that she needs to crawl out from the Knowles family shadow and do her own thing. They are just holding her back.

Ahhh, white people again play the "race card". "Oh boo hoo, why do they have the BEt awards, if we had the white people awards show we would get blasted". Or the "why do they get to call each other n*gga and we cant say it" or "scholarships based on race is unamerican" but actually only when it goes to a black kid and not some undeserving white kid who finishes in the bottom percentile of his graduating class. Why do whites always focus on what somebody else is doing and try to play outsiders, wounded party and victim of discrimination? We have shows aimed at filling a cultural void created by the mainstreams lack of concern for non majority interests. I guess its a black thang and you wouldnt understand it.

In case you guys are too young to remember, there was a time not too long ago, when equality for black people was non-existent in this country. The NAACP Awards, BET Awards, and Soul Train Awards were created during this time to recognize black artists who were totally ignorned by the Oscars, Grammys, etc.

i think the Bet awards was hot. but what was up with Chris Brown and T-pain in their nerd look. Vivica looked a mess.im sure 50 cent dont miss that one bit. rihanna looked incredible as well as Alicia Keys because she didnt look manish. speaking of manish ciara looked like bowwow in a dress. however she is very pretty and i love her new hair style.

Well i thot they have WET awards like the country music awards and the spanish awards i dint hear that get mentioned, I believe blacks have a culture of thier own and BET is the only channel that will allow them showcase thier talent, the last time I checked BET is owned by MTV..I am just saying since everyone is expressing thier opinions. It dosnt matter to me I think BET sucks anyway!! But the last time I checked i dont believe spanish and white stations like CMT or CMA or wateva it is showcased black pple...I am not defending anyone but if other racists have thier own award shows why cant African Americans???? We should be celebrating FREEDOM! We are all so lucky to live in a country with freedom. We should focus on how lucky we all are and how diverse our country is, with people of all skin color. I think our country is so beautiful with all these different races and colors. :)
Still BET should not have a color on it eventhoug blacks are minority IN America. Equallity still rules... I agree there the emmys the orcars etc. but theres no "white" in there. So my brothers be civilized and be equal so we can be treated equally

BET is Racist simply for the name reguarless of the intentions it should be renamed, and just because its been this way forever does not mean that it is not wrong and does not need to be changed. There is a need for a channel that concentrates on R&B and rab, but why call it black entertainment tv.
