Someone Isn't Impressed With Angelina Jolie

Boy! How do you REALLY feel about Angelina Jolie? Screen historian Jeanine Basinger wrote "The Star Machine" and literally ripped Angie to shreds. Here are some excerpts from her writings.
"Fans don't need to watch her films . . . Her roles are only pale imitations of her off-screen self," continues Basinger, a professor at Wesleyan College. She then recites the sordid highlights of Jolie's life:
"[She twice] married and divorced very young; publicly kissed her brother a little too hard; admitted to cutting herself; made vague references to drugs; dated a woman; expressed a yearning to be 'taken down' by a suitably dominant individual of either gender; declared a willingness to try bondage; wore a vial of second husband [Billy Bob] Thornton's blood (and divorced him amid allegations of his insatiable sex addiction);" and "announced that she satisfies her post-divorce sexual needs by having flings with men in motels."
She also, the book recounts, "adopted a boy from Cambodia, a boy from Vietnam, and a girl from Ethiopia; allegedly delivered the death blow to Brad Pitt's staggering marriage to Jennifer Aniston; conceived Pitt's child; [has] given birth; and in the middle of all this, found time to take a genuine and serious mission to the United Nations on behalf of the world's children."
Basinger says Jolie, back in the days of the Hollywood star system, "could have found steady work playing larger-than-life, even terrifying female characters. Today, she has become one herself . . . It is not a cultural accident that Jolie's one serious, Oscar-winning role was that of a mental patient."

To Noona #32, you are absolutely correct. Tipping off the Photogs to your every move in order to further your career is not true giving. There are many celebrities who give millions of dollars and also their time without constantly tooting their own horn. The Lord said in regards to giving/titheing, "Let not your right had know what your left hand is doing, give in secret, so the Lord may reward you in the open". When you give to others, you are giving to the Lord, it is wrong to show off and to use the recipient to further your own needs.

I did enjoy her work in GIRL INTERRUPTED...I would pretty much have to agree that everything else role-wise pales in comparison. J. Basinger was DEFINITELY bitter!
First , this nobody who calls herself a writer is sure of generating a huge publicity by badmouthing Angelina...Second, she must be one of those fake victims abandonned by a lover , who indentifies with Anniston.Little women , is what you call this type of women....

Yes, Jeanine Basinger was harsh, but it was not untrue, and I am not sure where everyone is getting this "jealous" vibe from. I am not a fan of Angelina, I think she brought heartache to another human being, and that is Jenifer Anniston, Brad of course is just as culpable but her choices in life do not make her a stable human being.
No matter how much of a fan you are would you want her being a role model for your children? Would you want your husband working alonside of her when your marriage is going through a rocky spot?
I remember reading that she had lovers in different places around the world and that she would meet up with them just for sex. She doesnt have to justify her actions to me, but one day she will to her children.
I hope she is committed to being a stable responsible parent. For her kids sake, not for the publicity.

I agree with everything Basinger wrote. I hate how Jolie is referred to sometimes as "St Angelina"--puhleez--the public has such a short memory...just like we do with Madonna. They adopt babies as if they were accesories. celebrities also do the same thing with dogs. Dogs and children are not throwaway items.
Look what happens when adopted children are not tended to properly--Nicole Richie is a prime example of this. Yes, we the general public are also not sinless, but celebrities know what they are in for when every move they make is documented and filmed.
i wonder what this lady accomplished in HER life, other than critisizing celebrities. waht a sait, eh?

How about waiting to read the entire 600+ page book and seeing what the CONTEXT of this Angelina piece is?
Feeding the poor is good. but that shouldnt hide the fact that A/J stole peoples husbands and fiancees in cold blood. She wants the world to see how good she is by fashing her kids. I personally feel that whatever was written about her whorish life is true and i pray that what she did to J/A in front of the whole world will happen to her and i will be waiting to laugh my ribs off. the day will come.
