Mariah Carey is known for her diva like behavior so I guess this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Mariah has said recently that she sleeps in the sauna because the steam relaxes the vocal chords.
“It’s for my throat. Sleeping in there will make my voice better because of the steam. Luther Vandross was actually the one who told me about the humidity being helpful for the voice. I sleep in there – on a water bed covered by a terry cloth – for three hours, then I go into my normal room. I’ve got to sleep for a total of 15 hours to sing the way I want to.”
15 hours?! I’m happy if I can get 6 hours! Do any of you guys sleep that long or know someone who sleeps that much??
I used to sleep about 15 hours straight when I was in college. My roommate was even worse, she could honestly sleep 20 hours straight; that was probably because we usually had 2 or 3 days lack of sleep to catch up with.
You can sleep when you die.
I like to get 9 hours but then I’m lazy! But as much as I like a good sauna there’s no way I’d sleep in one!

oh i could if i had the time!! i love to do at least 12 h over the weekends. its the best thing for me – mentally and physically. when im ill, i just sleep and recuperate:) mariah is lucky. ppl think im nuts but its about quality of life, not quantity!:)

On weekdays, I usually get about 8 hours of sleep, but I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and sometimes on the weekends I sleep for close to 15 hours out of complete exhaustion. (I do not sleep in a sauna, however.)

Uh… she probably meant that she spaces it out in invervals. I highly doubt that anyone can sleep for 15 hours straight unless they were extremely sleep deprived for a few days prior to that.
…Or she could have meant that she sleeps in a sauna for a total of 15 hours (over a period of 5 days) in order to sing the way she does. That is probable.
she said a TOTAL of 15 hrs, not 15 hrs straight.
