Genetics Caused Dannielynn's Eyes To Cross Not Drugs

When I originally posted this story yesterday, a few readers commented in about their personal experience with having their child wear a patch. That is one of the many reasons why I love doing this site. When people contribute with such amazing stories, it becomes more of a community than just gossip. Just wanted to send out a quick thank you to everyone that chimes in.
"All of the opinions that I had (from doctors), every one of them said that it's very, very unlikely, because no one knows 100 per cent what causes this.
"I point-blank ask every single doctor, "Could any medications that Anna was on have caused this?' and they said that it's more likely that a genetic reason could have caused it."

A poor girl... Hope she will grow over it....
My daugther had the same thing. We caught ti when she was smaller, so it was easier to patch her eye and it helped a great deal! While its a pain to keep the patch on, I think it was worth the results in the end.

It saddens me to see that lala said its from drugs. Both of my children have had to use the eye patching. It is from genetics, and it is treatable. I never used drugs or did anything to harm my kids and they both have had the issue. They are both very far sighted as well and that makes one eye stronger than the other. Both wear glasses to assist with the vision problems, but it a common cause to the eyes turning in. As for the operation, my childrens doctor has stated that until they have finished growing (muscles in the back of the eye, not the actual eye itself) that an operation would not do any good to help correct the straightness of the weak eye.

I agree, it is awesome that people chimed in with their personal stories. I imagine that people who have not had a first hand experience with this disorder are not familiar with it, just as I was not until now. While I am glad that it sounds as if this will not be a lasting problem for Dannielynn, I still have to question Larry for selling this story to ET to put on television. He has graduated from exploiting his daughter to selling her flaws for profit.

I was born with crossed eyes. It is genetic and when I was 9 months old my parents took me in for surgery to correct it. After the surgery I wore eye patches until around 6 years old. People generally have no idea that I have anything wrong with my eyes. As a result I have no depth preception and when I get really tired my right eye gets lazy, but it has not affected my life in anyway. Best wishes on helping your daughter.
