Heath Ledger Died
(last pictures of Heath taken on the 19th while filming)---I can't believe it. I have chills up and down my body. I want to cry and I don't even know the guy. He was too young. Too talented.Heath Ledger was found dead in his apartment at the age of 28. Poor Matilda! He was an amazing actor and a good father. Pills were found near the body.
At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building, at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger's bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said pills were found near the body.
I hope that Michelle Williams and Heath's family found out prior to the press.Thanks Dana and Owen.
Update: It was Mary Kate Olsen's apartment.Update 2: Signs are pointing to suicide.
Update 3: Law enforcement tells TMZ Ledger's body was found face down on the bedroom floor. There is no visible signs of any trauma.
Update 4: Death marked accidental.Update 5: May or may not be Mary Kate's apartment. Now sources are telling TMZ otherwise.Update 6: Us Magazine has a close friend claiming that Heath was having a hard time getting sober.
"This is terrible and I'm in shock," a close friend of Ledger's tells Usmagazine.com. "But to tell you the truth... we saw it coming.""Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober," the source tells Us."Things were very dark," the source says. "His one joy was Matilda." Matilda is his 2-year-old daughter with ex-wife Michelle Williams. They split in September."Everything else was misery for him," adds the source. "Unfortunately he was too late in getting help."
Update 7: Warner Bros. issues a statement.
"The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends."
Update 8: Sleeping meds?
The pills appeared to be over-the-counter sleeping medication, said police spokeswoman Barbara Chen.
Update 9: I won't post it but people are already post memorabilia and remembrance ribbons in Heath's name on eBay. GROSS!!!
Update 10: He was found naked, there is a possibility he had pneumonia, and his autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday.Update 11: Nicole Kidman released a statement:
"What a terrible tragedy," Kidman said through her publicist Wendy Day."My heart goes out to Heath's family."
Update 12: Mel Gibson released a statement as well:
"I had such great hope for him," Gibson told the Entertainment Tonight website."He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."

I did not see this coming. He seemed like a normal, unaffected person and great family man. He is the last person I thought would do drugs. Maybe it was suicide. I hope he rests in peace.

I am just in utter shock. What a waste of such great talent. Drug related deaths (if that is what this is) are the worst because they are preventable. I wish someone had done an intervention. Someone had to know what was going on.

Oh my god. I am in such shock. I used to live in Manhattan and would occasionally see Heath walking about the West Village. Once I saw him pushing Matilda in her stroller and I smiled at him and he grinned back and waved. He was a beautiful, striking man, not to mention immensely talented. One of the most brilliant actors of his generation. Whether his death was intentional or unintentional, I wish that someone close to him would have had the foresight to know that something was not right in his world and helped him in some way. May his family and his darling little girl find comfort in these hard days/weeks/months to come.

I am heartbroken. My sister and I used to argue as teenagers who liked him more.... I have always been such a huge fan of his. I really hope that Matilda always knows what an amazing actor her father was!!

People die all the time. Weak people kill themselves, the strong die fighting. Heath ledger had a reason to live, his daughter. Intentional or not, he killed himself.

Another star burns out. Such a shame, a waste in some ways. Even a well respected actor like him goes to show you that what you see on the surface, isnt entirely what you are underneath. He is just like the rest of us: VULNERABLE. And in this case, his life was in shambles and when it came overcoming the challenges he had, he didnt. A damn shame. RIP. You will be missed, sir.

The pictures I remember of him in the past...he always laid low or walked with his beautiful daughter in Brooklyn. I hope it was pneumonia as that would be easier to explain to his daughter when she is really old enough to understand what just happened.
