Nicole Richie Watched Harlow Winter Kate Being Born

Nicole Richie reportedly used a mirror to watch Harlow Winter Kate being born. Interesting...did anyone else use that technique during labor???

"A nurse handed Nicole a mirror so she could see the birth. At first she was too afraid, but she watched during the final few pushes. However, there were worrying moments for Nicole and fiancé Joel Madden when Harlow turned a scary shade of blue.
But the doctor soon reassured the new parents that everything was OK and placed Harlow on Nicole's chest while Joel nervously cut the cord."

After the birth Nicole then sent Christina Aguilera a little note to tell her she was in her thoughts and wish her luck with the delivery of her son. That was sweet of Nicole! I can't believe she had the presence of mind, after going through labor, to send a note! Or maybe Joel did it for her, who knows.

Yeah there was a standing mirror in my room, doctor asked if I wanted to see since it was my first born so I did. It was cool and weird at the same time.

I used that technique lol. But only because i didnt believe that the doctor was telling me the truth. She said the babies head is out keep pushing and i called her a liar that i didnt want to push anymore because there was no baby coming out. So they brought the mirror and showed me and then i kept watching.
I was a very difficult person lol

She is an absolute total waste of space. She sucks completely. I feel sorry for her kid. It will be raised by nannies while she hits the clubs and tries to get her picture taken. Miserable skank. Nothing more.

um...im not a mom, and never ever want to be...but why on earth would they HAND her a mirror? I thought there was a large mirror that they angeled. I would think Nicole would not have the energy, nor the concentration it would take to hold a mirror steady and push out a kid.

I wonder if Harlow will always be referred to as Harlow Winter Kate. Cause that would be...awkward

Yes with my first they thought I was going to have to push for hours until they gave me the mirror. My epidural worked a little too well. The mirror helped me SEE what was happening when I was pushing. It really helped.

I think "hand her a mirror" was just a figure of speech.

I used a mirror at first but it was a water birth and was kind of blurry so I stopped using it and just felt with my hands!

Well, about the presence of mind... my friend was texting me that she had just given birth to her twins when she was being taken care of right after the babies popped out!

I did not intend to but I was having a really hard l&d so the doctor brought the standing mirror (I had been through it all by that point and they were prepping me for a c-section which I did not want.) It was actually helpful to see what was happening and I gave birth the way I wanted to!

I am a nurse, and handing the mom a mirror during the labour is quite common. It often helps for the mom to see that the baby is in fact coming out and encourages them to keep pushing because trust me at that stage in the delivery the moms just feel like giving up and feel really discouraged trying to get the baby out.
