Idol Camp, the only performing arts summer camp inspired and brought to you by the producers of the nation’s #1 television phenomenon, “American Idol”, is opening its doors for the second year with a roster full of Idol alums scheduled to make guest visits and mentor young campers. The camp today announced that its 2008 line-up of former “American Idol” contestants will include Grammy-nominated artist and Season 5 finalist Ace Young, Season 4 runner-up Bo Bice and Season 3 finalist Jon Peter Lewis among others. These artists will help instruct classes, perform during evening activities and share personal insights for campers during an intensive two-week session aimed at advancing campers skills across a wide range of disciplines. Tori Spelling and her family headed over to the Four Seasons hotel.  Wonder if they bumped into Britney :P  Celebrities are constantly taking these little mini vacations at hotels in their home towns.  What a waste of money!  I guess when you’re making millions though, it’s not an issue…and I’m sure it’s nice to get away even if you’re not actually leaving the city.

And what do you think about Tori and Dean?  They’re making it work against all odds…who would have thought they’d be pregnant with their second child already!

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem aren’t being shy about their new romance.  The hot couple took a little stroll through the city of Nice (France) after flying in for the weekend.  They weren’t exactly touchy feely in front of the cameras and I know some of you think the blind item from the other day was about Penelope.  I’m still not convinced.

In other news, she always has the best jeans!!!  Penelope and Jessica Simpson…am I right, or am I right?

Anyways…while we’re on the subject of girls from The Hills….the New York Times says that Heidi Montag is a feminist hero….yes, you really did read that right.  In their review of most recent season of the show a critic wrote the following:

“Defying our expectations, Heidi Montag has emerged as a kind of feminist hero. Her groundswell of self-assertion begins when [beau Spencer Pratt] insists on eloping, prompting Heidi to declare, ‘This isn’t, like, Spencer’s relationship and you decide what we do. The full-on joyous Oprah-fication of Heidi culminates with the show’s return and gives The Hills a new momentum. After taking a break from Spencer at her parents’ modest house in Crested Butte, Colorado, Heidi returns to Los Angeles to kick him out and chastises him for taking her flat-screen TV with him.”

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.  What do you think about this?

UGH.  Another celebrity has a suicide story.  Hearing about these sorts of things really makes me sad.  J.K. Rowling admits that there was a time in her life when she hit rock bottom.  Her daughter was what motivated her to get help. 

On desperate circumstances, friends paying her rent:

“We’re talking suicidal thoughts here, we’re not talking ‘I’m a little bit miserable.’ Mid-twenties life circumstances were poor and I really plummeted.”

On getting help:

“The thing that made me go for help was probably my daughter. She was something that earthed me, grounded me, and I thought, this isn’t right, this can’t be right, she cannot grow up with me in this state.”

Rowling isn’t scared to touch the subject and hopes that if she does it will encourage more people to get help too:

The funny thing is, I have never been remotely ashamed of having been depressed. Never,” she says. “I think I’m abnormally shameless on that account because what’s to be ashamed of?”

By the way, it was during the time period that her friends were helping her pay her rent that she began work on the Harry Potter series, which is now a $14 billion dollar industry.  I bet she paid her friends back and then some!

Kevin Federline celebrated his 30th birthday this past weekend.  He partied it up at Pure and in Las Vegas.  While he was there he hung out with his ex, Shar Jackson and got a special performance by the Pussycat Dolls.  But, it looks like they partied a little too hard.  Kevin drank one too many Jack Daniels, got on the mike, and started swearing at the crowd.

The DJ tried to take the microphone back after about three minutes, but he just kept going,” a witness tells Us. “It didn’t make any sense what he was saying. He was just blabbing on.”

While K-Fed was in Las Vegas Sean Preston and Jayden James were taken care of by their nanny and bodyguards.

And in other related news, the Daily Star is reporting that Britney has been hanging out with David Hasselhoff…WHAT?!? First Mel Gibson and now The Hoff???  I’ll believe it when I see pictures
