The Daily News is reporting that gossip industry players are not fearful over fake stories leaking on their covers due to Ashton Kutcher’s Pop Fiction pranks. In fact, they aren’t even threatened by the idea claiming that the shelf life of the concept will be short lived. Besides that Avril story, Ashton really has nothing up his sleeve (or so they say).

“Ashton’s not a journalist. One of the stories was about Avril Lavigne being pregnant. But everyone watched her in Miami, and reporters caught her drinking. A fake belly doesn’t get by us. There’s nothing these people do that we don’t know about before they get there. We know everything. Ninety percent of their lives are put together by other people. It’s almost like these celebs have LoJack. It’s easy to track them. “

And in what can be viewed as a low blow to Eva Longoria and Paris Hilton, another editor claimed Ashton only features D list celebrities.

Another weekly editor snipes that Kutcher’s E! show, which also featured Eva Longoria Parker, “is awful. It’s a mostly a lot of D-listers we don’t care about. [We] wouldn’t cover anyone on that show - with the exception of Avril. This show won’t go anywhere. No one is watching it.

“In Hollywood, anytime anyone decides to be in on the joke and critique themselves, no one cares. It’s not having the effect they thought it would. No one can sympathize with celebs. They’re always in on it themselves, whether they’re pulling the joke or not.”

As if that wasn’t enough, the article goes on to bash Ashton and Demi’s relationship saying they hardly sell magazines because no one is interested. These quotes seem a bit heated from people who supposedly don’t care right?

Kutcher’s crusade for truth won’t affect Star’s coverage of Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore, Trunzo says. “He’s only semi-interesting,” she says. “He doesn’t sell a lot of mags. It’s a typical conceited celebrity,” says a mag insider. “Live a life, man. Grow up. Go act. If a celeb has a full week, then they have way too much time on their hands.

“If he’s just doing this to have fun, that’s good. If Britney turned out to be sane and it was all a Kutcher hoax, that would be a story! Or if the Olsen twins were normal!?”

That’s pretty funny about Britney. Now THAT would be a prank wouldn’t it?!

Keri Russell was spotted out and about yesterday in Malibu.  She looks like she has lost all her baby weight and then some!  I really don’t remember her being so little before…maybe I’m wrong.  In other news, I really like her bag.  Even though it looks like a simple tote, I’m sure it must be some ridiculously expensive designer purse

What?!?  She is only 16 years old.  I cannot believe this!  People is reporting that Jamie Lynn Spears is engaged to the father of her baby, Casey Aldridge.  Supposedly someone in Louisiana talked to People and said,

“She’s got an engagement ring,” the source says. “She’s been showing it off, talking about it.”

I hope that if this is true these two are engaged because they are truly in love.  I know some people who married their high school sweethearts and are still going strong 40 years later.  But on the other side of the fence, I’ve known quite a few people who got engaged before they were old enough to know better…and things didn’t end well.

Another Disney teen star, Selena Gomez, was offered a role in High School Musical 3.  And she said no!  I can’t believe that.  I thought any young girl would be dying to be a part of that cast!!! 

Selena said,

“High School Musical 3 is cute, and I think it would be a great opportunity for someone else. But I passed on it because I didn’t want to do it. I plan to take other roles in acting that are challenging for me. After Disney, I want to be taken seriously as an actress for many years.”

Natalie Portman wishes she could have her childhood back.  It’s really no surprise, I mean, she’s been working since she was just a little girl.  And we all know that kids in the business are forced to grow up really fast.

“I do kind of feel that I lost part of my childhood,” Natalie confessed. “I was one of those kids that always wanted to be older, which I now think is a shame.”

But she is catching up on lost time.

“I try to make up for that now by being outdoors more, playing, being silly and not being afraid of that. I don’t feel that I missed out on a normal life, but when I was a kid I wasn’t out playing in the mud.”

Who would have known that Thandie Newton was such a prankster? She should hook up with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon! Simon Pegg (who I LLLOOOOVVVEEE) fell victim to one of her most recent pranks during a press junket to promote Run Fatboy Run. David Schwimmer recalls…

I think the best one was when we were doing the press junket together in London, where the movie opened. Thandie, Simon and I were in three different rooms with all these on camera interviews. Thandie had got there hours before Simon and I, and she had filled every one of his 12 giant bottles of water with vodka. So when he was in the middle of his first interview on camera and he goes to take a (swig) during the interview, a huge gulp and just spits up everywhere all over the interviewer. That was probably the best prank.”
