Lost Is Hurting Michael Emerson's Relationship

Michael Emerson and his wife of 10 years, Carrie Preston, have had some serious relationship problems because of his role on Lost. The distance between the couple when he was filming in Hawaii and she was living in New York put a lot of tension on the couple.

"It's been uniquely challenging for us. With me being that far away from our home in New York for half the year, it's a struggle to keep our marriage alive. Because we are so many times zones away, my wife and I have to plan just to do a simple thing like talking on the phone."

But, he also credits Lost for jump starting his career and he knows he would have been a fool not to do it!

"My wife was a big fan, a real 'Lostaholic'. She told me I'd be crazy not to do it."

UGH. Long distance relationships are SO hard. Even if one person in the relationship just travels a lot, it can really add so much stress to your life. For those of you who have long distance relationships and are making it work, I congratulate you :) What's your secret?

I am a geologist and work 6 weeks in the field and then have two weeks off when I return home to see my husband. He also works away from home, so sometimes our breaks do not match and it is months before we see one another.

It is difficult- I always try to remember what drew us together in the first place, review the ways that the he has encouraged me and helped me get to the point I am at today.
We both make good money doing what we do, so we have our immediate goals which involve us being apart and then we have long-term goals which will eventually bring us to the point where we will be able to spend more time together.

We focus on this and talk on the phone and e-mail as much as possible.

Michael Emerson and Carrie Preston have worked very hard to get where they are- they both courted success and now they are achieving their dreams.. Michael is always very good at mentioning Carrie and her latest projects when he is interviewed. This is very sweet and very constructive for their relationship- he obviously wants it to work out and though I don't know them I really hope that they do work out the difficulties. They have been married for 10 years, which is really remarkable in this day and age!

They seem like a really nice couple..

The sad fact of the matter is that since the HFFO Oscar Night party February of this year, he's had a very numb look in his eyes. His smile is forced--when he does smile--even when they're together. He is very conscientious about trying to keep the marriage going, but I think that's where it ends. In a recent interview, his wife described their meeting at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, saying she was attracted to him "mainly because he was so talented." A far cry from his recollection of meeting her at the first read-through and thinking, "who is that delicious girl." Obviously something is amiss, and tender-hearted fellow that he is, he's the worse for it. My wish is that her continued hair-brained productions and lack of talent won't bring his career to an end with wave after wave of second and third banana bit parts as gay butlers, gay neighbors and guys in gorilla suits. He's destined for so much more.

you are so right this gentleman has talent way too much talent,I wish the best for him, I do not think the man is happy anymore , a friend saw them together a couple of times and then ,him without her and says he seems happier when he is alone, who knows, Maybe you have the insight feel for him though, I went through this with my ex wife for years and finally had to just break away.

They seemed pretty happy when he won the Emmy last month and she seemed genuinely proud and happy for him. You could tell by the way they looked at each other during interviews before and afterward. It didn't look fake to me. These interviews are all over you tube by the way. I agree sometimes actors being bombarded by cameras and strange people can look "numb." Doesn't mean his marriage is in the dumps. I love it when people have friends who see couples together a "couple times" and form an opinion based on that. Do your friends know them personally? Do you? I don't know them and don't have friends who claim to, so I could be wrong. Let's just take what Passerby said, which I think hits the nail on the head, and give them the benefit of the doubt.
