Jennifer Aniston Building Green House

Jennifer Aniston truly cares about the environment. We've heard her mention before that she takes showers no longer than 3 minutes and brushes her teeth while showering in order to conserve water. Well, now she is taking her passion for the cause one step further and is going to build herself a house that's totally green.

The house, "will boast a, drought-resistant plants and organically-made building materials in addition to its ocean view."

A source says,

"Jen (Aniston) wants to help the environment and she has the money."

That is awesome! Have any of you made any changes to your house in order to help the environment?

It's "greener" to live in an existing home than to build new.

Miss M Miss M said:

Lara : depends on the house. If you live in a drafty old Victorian House like I do then it's certainly cheaper to build a new house that is green as in energy efficient, water efficient etc.

How does she manage to take a shower that's no longer than 3 minutes and brush her teeth while doing it? MY mom taught me to brush for a minimum of three minutes alone!

Pam Pam said:

Maybe she has people helping her take a shower. Someone scrubs her back, someone washes her hair. And the whole time she is brushing her teeth. Haha That's the only way it would all make sense.

it doesnt take that long to shower unless you shave!

I have made significant changes in my house and how I live over the past several months in an attempt to go green. I would definitely do more if I had more money, but the small things I've accomplished make me feel great!

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. I think the Chin likes to keep herself in the news.

I turn off lights whenever they aren't needed and turn the tap off now while I am brushing my teeth until I need to rinse.

it's easy to go green when you can pretty much buy the planet.

I have not watered my lawn this year. That is just cause I am lazy. Plus with all this "global warming" it seems a waste to water in these FREEZING temps. ALL these celebs say they care about the environment. Then they fly around in private jets.

J.J. J.J. said:

If you only shower 3 minutes, and part of that is brushing your teeth... how much are you really doing of either?

Anonymous said:

this is the extent of jen's philanthropic urges. she takes short showers. and wants to indulge herself by taking time off her busy schedule of sitting around in the sun feeling sorry for herself and making bad movies to buy something new. give me a freaking break. she is so useless. and why do I feel like this is just her trying to be environmentally conscious just because she knows john mayer is particularly concerned with the environment. nothing she does is orginal or done with any sincerety. god she is lame.

Well, it's true that living green is much more expensive at the onset, when you're getting everything new and installed, but in the long run, the payoffs are worth it.
I rent right now, but I do my share. I recycle, and our family has made a conscious decision to start eating our foods as whole and natural as possible. Besides being much better for your health, you get a lot less packaging, and a lot less unpronounceable ingredients. We've also started using green products, down to our beauty products (LOVE Lush! Awesome stuff. http://ca.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb )

I'm with everyone else on the 3 minute shower thing. If I'm not washing my hair I could probably be done in three minutes but once you add in shampooing and condition my super long hair, my showers aren't short.

And I don't see how it would save water to brush your teeth in the shower. I think you would use less water by just getting your toothbrush wet, turning off the water while you brush, then turning it back on to rinse. When you are in the shower you aren't exactly able to brush while washing yourself or your hair. And wouldn't it seem like, even if you left the tap water on, it would be less water than what was coming out of your shower head?

She's so full of it. Anything for attention. Probably dreamt it up to impress John Mayer. Can't STAND HER!!

$20K + in double pane windows and the gov't tax break was disgustingly small chump change considering how much we spent!

a 18,000 sq. foot house cannot be environmentally friendly no matter how you build it.

I am sick of celebrities marketing themselves as something they are not. DiCaprio flies all over the world in a private jet then let's himself be seen in public in a Prius. Al Gore blathers on about the sacrifices we need to make and you find out he has a $30,000 a month electricity bill.

Fortunately we are smarter enough to see through what celebrity websites are trying to feed us. What are these websites motives, they obviously know the false propaganda that are espousing.....

Right on Steve! Finally, someone with common sense who doesn't fall for these celebs BS!

Beeyotch, please. Can't this woman ever do anything that doesn't lead pack to her former husband? Is she going to STILL be riding his coattails when she's on her deathbed? That's a rhetorical question. We all know she will.

Aniston couldn't be bothered to care about the ecology when she was married to Brad Pitt, who was all gung ho to build and remodel green. Now that Pitt has his Make It Right project in New Orleans to build green houses for the poor, suddenly Aniston is building green...but in Mailbu...and probably to the tune of $15-20 million. She just needs to take her millions and go live at a spa in Cabo and STFU and quit trying to be something she's not. First it was a St. Jude's commercial. Then it was a Burma PA. Now it's building green. I liked her much better when she stuck to her "Charity is not my thing" mantra. She's a complete moron so she needs to do herself a favor and shut up. Especially since she's dating John Mayer now. If she leaves her mouth open too long she may find herself downing in urine.

Lucy Lucy said:

Hey guys,

It's awesome that Jen is going even greener - something else she just voiced her passions about is the country of Burma. She did a really funny PSA with Woody Harrelson for the project I'm working on, which you can see at http://www.burmaitcantwait.org - check it out! It just was released this morning.

Danielle Danielle said:

Jennifer actually said "Charity is not my thing"? When was this? I can't believe a person would actually say that in public.

Erin Erin said:

I always did wonder how she manages to get in and out of the shower in 3 minutes, especially with all that hair. I guess that her hair is so fabulous that it washes itself!

And she never said that charity wasn't her thing, that's a misquote. What she said was that while it's important to contribute, she doesn't like to get on a soapbox about it.

Her publicist linked the info how the hell do we know that???

She drives an SUV. I have seen it in photos. Is that helping the environment?? PULEEESE!!

CanuckGirl CanuckGirl said:

Please. There are only two reasons this celebrity can do everything she needs to do in the shower in 3 minutes: 1) When she's not working, she visits a hair salon three times a week, so she doesn't have to wash her hair herself; and 2) When she is working, she has her hair done on-set every morning, meaning other people wash her hair for her. Otherwise, there is NO WAY anyone with hair her length can wash and condition AND brush their teeth in 3 short minutes.

Just another celebrity who's full of herself and full of s**t.

gia gia said:

God, you people who hate on jen are miserable sad people. Jennifer is doing her part to help the earth so what? Why does it have to be for publicity she's the one few celebrities that stays out of the spotlight. You don't see her walking down melrose with a cup of starbucks pretending that she doesn't want the paparazzi to take her picture. I respect her because after everything she went through she moved on with her life and never played victim.

hab.t hab.t said:

I agree with Gia about all the Jen-haters. You guys are obviously just looking for any reason to bash her and ignoring all logic or reason if necessary. Maybe you guys need to reread the article. Who's the source? It doesn't even say Jen said anything. Is this from an interview or press conference? Is this source a friend and Jen never cared if you all knew at all?

Newsflash guys! People move and build houses all the time. They can build them green or non-green. People take 3 minute showers when they don't wash their hair or shave (you know you do too). People brush their teeth while showering (never seen people keep their toothbrush in the shower?).

All you people complaining about how celebrities fly on private jets and have their hair professionally done cause they're on a set, it's hard to take this seriously when I bet you'd do the same if you could. Proof is in the fact that you're reading a celebrity blog or better yet, HUMAN.

I agree with gia. People are haters. If you weren't obsessed with celebrities, you wouldn't be on this site. Love her or hate her, she makes more than any of you and is entitled to buy any kind of house she wants. i think it's great that she decided to go green. People shouldn't be bashed for following their dreams and having a talent. Maybe if the rest of you spent more time finding something you were good at rather than criticizing celebrities, you'd actually make something of yourselves and then could have the money to green your homes.

Madge Madge said:

Horse-face aniston needs to build herself a sun barrier or she'll be getting skin cancer and won't need any kind of house where she'll soon be.

Passerby Passerby said:

The amount of energy used to build a green house is more wasteful than buying an existing home and making it more efficient, ex. solar panels, new windows, etc. or a remodel of interior and exterior using sustainable products. Its ridiculous to build a green home when there are plenty out there that can be modified. Also do we really need to be developing on more land. Give it a rest already. Its pathetic.

Some people might be sick of celebrities pretending to be conscious about the environment, however in my view it doesn't really matter whether the feeling is genuine or not the behavior of celebrities will influence the behavior of the general public. If this can lead to a benefit for the environment I am all for it.
