I always love to read about actors who are the complete opposite of the characters they play. Marcia Cross is notoriously famous for this and now Sarah Jessica Parker has been added to the list. Sarah Jessica is no Carrie and she isn’t even attempting to give the perception that she is or ever can be as chic and fashionable. Recently, Miss Parker admitted that she doesn’t even really know how to blow out her own hair or put on make up.
“I can’t even blow dry my own hair and I don’t know how to put on make-up either. I’ll admit I do know how to cover a zit (spot) and put on mascara and eyeliner but I can only put my hair into a ponytail, nothing.
It’s funny because I went to a meeting two weeks ago about something I can’t talk about until July (ugh) and they kept referring to the group of ladies in the room as “beauty experts”. I kept thinking to myself, ‘This is my wedding face AND my food shopping face. I really don’t know how to do much else.”Do you have one look that you use over and over again? And perhaps add MORE of what you to make it “evening wear”. Or can you really work the make up brush and come up with different looks for different occasions?

I am lucky- I have a ton of really healthy long hair. It *can* look amazing. But not if I am doing it!!! I run around in a pony tail ALL THE TIME.
I was watching SJP on Oprah last week and thought “my hair could look like that”. IF I HAD A STYLIST!
When I worked in cosmetics, I would get the other girls to give me extreme eyes-it looked amazing. If I tried it, I looked like a mentally challenged clown.
look at her hands and feet!!!!! i guess what people said is true, when you need to know a person age, just look at that persons hand……
About 15 years ago (oy!), I rode an empty subway car with SJP. Way before Sex and the City. Maybe even before LA Story? This is pre-superstardom/post Square Pegs SJP.
Here’s the thing:
I still remember exactly what she was wearing! It was that cool. And she was clearly just running errands. She had on 70′s style running shorts (very short with piping) a tank top and RED clogs with wooden soles. And her hair was up in a messy ponytail/bun.
I don’t know if this was hopelessly out of style (being the early 90′s) or terribly chic, but at the time it struck me as terribly chic.
My point is, she may not be able to do a professional blow-out on that mop. Neither can I. But she is as effortlessly stylish as she is effortlessly thin. She can’t help it.
And her hands have always been bony veiny things. Price of having no fat…
wow!! what a cool subway encounter
i love to do different make-up and hair styles. my friends always tell me how lucky i am i never have to pay for anything . i did all my friends for prom and weddings. and my own. i love false lashes everyone always wants me to put lashes on them for girls nights out. it’s so fun. my make-up case weighs about 30 pounds.. no joke !!!! and
my best friend decided to become a hair stylist and it’s soo awesome
That dress is part of her Bitten collection…..it’s $9 and I LOVE IT!!!!!
I think if you work in an environment where you constantly have a team of people doing your hair and makeup, anything you do by yourself just isn’t going to be as good. There’s no way it could be!
WOW she looks great accept for thos 98year old web hands.
I can do certain things with my hair, but not an updo. My makeup just gets a little more on it, or perhaps I drag some eye shadow in a line under my eye to match what is over my eye. Other than that, there is no smokey eye anything going on here.
people care WHHHHYYYY??? i mean most celebs dont do their own hair and make-up THIS is ur sorry excuse for news? PALEASE! i can find better news in the national inquirer
Oh Man! She has the Valentino Satin bow peep toes I’ve been trying to covet! I guess it pays to be SJP!
I am not into a lot of makeup no matter what the occasion is. The only thing different would be the lipstick. I would not wear my shiny lipstick to the grocery store. I like my makeup to look natural or as natural as it can for makeup.
I just LOVE her outfit! The red shoes add a nice pop of colour. I don’t know what she means by having no fashion sense. She always looks beautiful, IMO. SJP can do no wrong in my books. As for different makeup looks, I just stick to my basic stuff. I’m amazed how the Mac artists come up with different looks, but I guess it’s their job to experiment. I just have no time for it. I do the basic smokey eye for when I go out. Otherwise it’s eyeliner, mascara and blush. I print out the makeup instructions on the Mac website, but they use a million different eyeshadow colours that I get lost and discouraged. Oh well!
i’m the worst hairdresser ever. no talent here.
daily – ponytails (my hair is wavy).
night – straight and bang (love).
I love changing up my look. I wear a more conservative look to work, but I like wearing different colors of eye makeup when I’m out shopping or out to dinner. I love makeup and hair products. I’m always doing something different with my hair, wavy, straight, up, down. I love being unpredictable, in my case it pays to have long hair.
most of the time I use the same look, don’t know why, I just think it suits me well and fits my type. as far as evening make ups go (as you suggested), I just use a bit more of what I usually use anyways.
I like to keep it natural, but still sexy.
Plus, keeping it natural makes it difficult to experiment with make up looks somehow.
I’m very uncreative when it comes to “building” new looks with make up though. also, I don’t wanna spend hours on it
Also, whenever I expirement and then find something nice that I like, I stick to that for a while and use it over and over again
Love those shoes !!
I can switch it up a little with my makeup when I need to, although I usually go for a natural look. If I’m wearing something bold, I’ll do a more “made up” face.
I’m a hair tard. My hair is long and straight and usually down. Sometimes I’ll do a bun or a twist, or a braided bun if I’m really getting fancy. I don’t do ponytails unless I’m exercising or cleaning house.
I can do different make-up, easy and natural, evening, glam, without a problem. My issue is the hair! I can not do anything with my hair to save my life. I can not straighten whatsoever, my hair is really curly/wavy – I let it airdry in the mornings, and by 3pm it’s up in a bun or a ponytail. I wish I could though!
