Jessica Simpson Defends Her Movie Career

Jessica Simpson is tired of people telling her that her movies flop at the box office. They all don't do that bad! In fact, Jessica recently pointed out that Dukes of Hazzards opened with $30 million and Employee of the Month at least made the money back that was needed to create it. That's far from flop standards if you ask her.
"For people to say (movie) Employee of The Month was a flop is ludicrous. It made the money back - that's not a flop. For people to say The Dukes of Hazzard was a flop - it opened at $30 million. If these movies are flops, why would I still make them?"
Major Movie Star... now that's a different story. Jessica really needs a good script to come her way. Too bad she can't be the love interest in a summer blockbuster. That would most certainly turn this perception around for her.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend to be a Jessica Simpson fan, I'm not. In all honesty though, she isn't that bad of an actress. She's no leading lady but there are far worse actors with more fruitful careers. I think she just needs a little more fine tuning and a better script.
If she was the love interest in a summer blockbuster I doubt that I would want to see it. I don't mean to offend- but she should stick to singing or making reality tv shows.

Technically her movies ARE flops - the girl can NOT act. In fact, she can't sing very well either. Why is it exactly that she's famous at all?

Hmmm.... well she seems to have a relatively stable acting career, if not the most fantastic one. Which I suppose is a lot more than many actors have!
Those were movies she was in, but not movies she really starred in. Dukes was about the brothers and Employee was about Dax's and Dane's characters. She was just the eye candy.
How about defending movies that she has to carry herself? I don't think she can.

She can't act, she can't really sing. She can take pretty pictures though, and some cute shoes.
Breaking even couldn't be called a success could it?
And making 30 million, is not a blockbuster.
Poor Jessica, a star in her own mind. However little that is.
Now she is clutching at a football player for her popularity to continue. She better hope he has a better year this year than he ended up with last year after he started dating her.

I am no fan of Jessica. Her pop music is bad and her singing is annoying. I hate her breathy sounding voice when she sings like she never learned how to breath right while singing. She cannot act either. Jess must be gaining weight again because she always wears this type of dress when she's gaining weight.
Jessica is wearing the same kind of sun dress my grandma wears when watering the grass.
She needs a good script AND some intense acting lessons.

i actually watched Blonde ambition online. it was soo awful . i don't know how i got through it, but really she can not act. but i like her sweet natural self. she should do hosting like Kelly Ripa. i think she would be good at that.
i do hope it works out for her and Tony. i'm sure he's feelin the pressure now that Ashlees getting married.

Making the money back on each of these films does not make them a bonefide hit. Jessica should look up other hits to see what a hit makes. She can't hold a movie because obviously she's not that good of an actress, but she does ok if she's just a supporting character. I'm suprised she's still acting. When she was first in Dukes, she was constantly late and was always forgetting her lines.

The Chimp cannot act, cannot sing either. She should pose for Playboy, bank the paycheck and gold dig some guy while she still has her looks, which I do not find attractive at all. I pity the fool that winds up with this media whore.
The way hollywood's going.... make no mistake about it, a movie that just about recoups its cost will be considered a hit not before long, if not now.
As for Jessica, she's hot (obviously) and if you're hot you can always have a stab at being an actress just maybe not a very good one.
And for all you Jessica haters out there I'm reminded of a line from a movie I once saw;
'My compassion for someone is not limited by my estimation of their intelligence.'
Shame I seem to be in the minority on that one
I guess Vanessa Hudgens and Jessica both look up to MK Olsen for fashion inspiration!
