Katie Holmes And Tom Cruise Have A Health Scare On Their Hands

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are a little bit nervous after claims that the Scientology cruise ship they were on for Tom's birthday had dangerous levels of blue abestos. The couple has been urged to seek medical care after experts were called in to test for abestos in the boat's panelling.

A toxicologist said,

"This is the most dangerous type
of asbestos because the fibres are smaller than the white asbestos and
can penetrate the lung more easily.

"Once diagnosed with mesothelioma, the victim has six
months to a year to live. It gradually reduces lung function until the
victim is no longer able to breathe and dies."

It could take 30-50 years to even develop Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is no laughing matter. My sister lost her husband to mesothelioma on May 3rd. He was 25 years old. The sad thing is that this type of cancer is hard to diagnose and once people find out, then treatment is limited. My brother-in-law had 20 days in which he was fighting for life from the time he was diagnosed until the time he passed. I will say a special prayer for the Cruise family, because I would not wish this on anyone.

I lost my cousin to this three years ago. She worked in a building where they knew about it and sent her as a temp to work there. She won a lawsuit but lost her life. It is such a serious disease and so hard to treat. Even as wacky as Tom is, and all his talk about curing the world, I pray that they weren't exposed to this.

Im sure they have a cure for this being Scientologists and all

TC has the power to cure himself and his family if necessary, he doesn't believe in doctors or medical treatment.

this is very sad. I watched a documentary on cancer patients, and this man got mesothelioma doing some construction work. After he died, his wife had to pack all his things away, my god, i couldnt stop crying. I hope this isnt true, b /c since the baby is involved it makes it that much more heartbreaking.

Okay, how weird is it that the new filter is "bleeping" out portions of words, such as in Tiffany's post above about the doc-u-mentary? Glad that we won't see the nasty junk that's been popping up here lately, though!

(pokes head in) yeah I'm fine-tuning the censor. It's a little bit on a hair-trigger, it seems. Wouldn't want to prohibit people from talking about business ac-u-men or John Han****!!

My grandfather-in-law passed away from mesothelioma one year ago. The American Cancer Society says that the key factors are really the length of exposure and the frequency of exposure and it (most of the time) takes over fifteen to twenty-five (sometimes longer) years to show up after the exposure to asbestos. This is a very terrible type of cancer and most people who suffer from it usually pass away due to their inability to breathe as their lungs fill with too much fluid, but this is not always the case. This is a terribly painful disease that there is no cure for as the death rate is over 90%. I really doubt that Tom Cruise was in an area where he would be directly ingesting the fibers. Let's get real here - there are thousands of cases of mesothelioma each year in the U.S. alone, Tom Cruise is one person. I just really hope that his "scare" brings the seriousness of this type (and all other types) of cancer to light, instead of him just sweeping it under the rug as it has something to do with Scientology. Maybe people would respect him more as a human being this way - ATTN: Tom Cruise's PR people.

This is obviously a sympathy PR stunt. We've seen this before before Tom Tom.

Maybe off topic, but I wonder if Suri is immunised? Is that ok for Scientology rules? Just wondering...
