Boom Boom Room Recap

Boom Boom Room Recap

I was invited to cover a celebrity gifting event called the Boom Boom Room. I always wanted to know what one of those suites looked like. You always hear about the Oscar room etc. So I JUMPED at the chance!!

NYC’s famous families and influential media - new parents, aunts, uncles, godparents, and their offspring - attended the Boom Boom Room gifting suite wonderland. The BBR, known as “the premiere stop on the celebrity baby circuit” opened its doors for the first time outside Beverly Hills.

It was WILD! I am going to spread out the links over the weekend because there are just too many people to write up in one post. If you are in the market for baby goods (or know someone who is) these are the stores that the celebrities are using.

Basically, celebrities get invited (think Denise Richards, Brooke Burke etc) and they walk around from table to table. The people then gift them with free goodies and in exchange get to take a picture of the celebrity holding their product. So everyone wins.

It was PACKED and crazy. I only gave myself an hour thinking I would hop in and out before the Kelly Ripa thing. Boy! Was I wrong! Next time (if they are so kind enough to invite me again), I am giving myself at least 4 hours and packing a lunch! hahahah

Here is the first list of vendors:

Smart Mom Jewelry - it's jewelry women can wear that looks like stone but is really just teething devices for our kids!

Paper Shouts - great stationery line

Time Out Spots - mats to put your children on when they need a cool down period.

Burp Armor - really nice guy!! Organic cotton burp cloth that stays put.

A Natural Home - wooden toys and furniture. Their sheep toy is adorable!

Vintage Kids - nursery design. Again, a very lovely owner.

Bear Hands - mittens that look like bear hands with a fold for easy access in and out. So great!

Lollitops - little girl hats that turn into bags! So CUTE.

Bug A Lug - adorable hair accessories for girls.

Name Your Tune - I've been listening to one of their cds for over a year now... every single day of my life... every single day. Personalized for your child. They are really amazing.

My Wee Friend - this is the best thing I got all day considering I am in potty training mode. It's a potty with a sticker that turns into a star when your child pees. She is really excited about seeing the change.

Robeez - the best thing after keeping your kids barefoot. These shoes are soft and flexible.

Check back tomorrow for more great links!

What? you mean you can't afford to pay $27 on something a baby is throw up on? I'm not impressed with those links. Sorry. Way out of my budget.

i dont understand how everyone wins when the richest people in society are getting free gifts, and the rest of us are struggling to pay the bills. it's shameful to support this culture of celebrity worship and feeding of the wealthiest. I am truly disgusted by this post.

Thank you! I to am sick of seeing these people (who have more money than they know what to do with) get freebie after freebie. Meanwhile, the rest of us are trying to figure out how to fit even the basic neccesities into our budgets as the price of everything has gone (and continues to go) up.

When I used to have a t-shirt line, I understood this practice as an entrepreneur - if you can get a star to associate with your product then it's worth the donation but I always think the public is more savvy to know the difference between a celebrity standing there holding your product for a picture taken at the gift suite (and afterwards probably giving it to their assistant), and chancing upon a celebrity using, wearing, or talking about your product by chance. These companies not only give away free samples of their goods, they also pay for the opportunity - sometimes thousands of dollars. It's kind of sick to watch, I have to say. I don't have the t-shirt line anymore but even if I did, I wouldn't participate in another one ever again.

I got my daughter one of those personalized CDs her first Christmas. Every time it would say "Let's pretend, LUCY!" she would snap her head around in complete amazement. Then look at me like, "Mommy, am I crazy or did the radio just say my name..." It was adorable. Thankfully I've managed to siphon her off of it and it's only in limited rotation these days. Good luck, Vera! haha

I am one of the vendors from the show and I was happy to give away my products. Many of the poeple that came were "real" people, like myself. The LA show is much more about the "real" celebrities. I gave away stuff to the other vendors (real people), people on the street, people that volunteered for the event, etc. As well, I frequently give away stuff to "real people" as I agree, they are GREAT about getting the word out! I always have samples in my purse, so if yo ever see me, just stop and ask for something! By the way, the prices of many of these items are very resonable. In fact my products are sold in many stores, even consignment stores. I understand your frustration, but these events are fun for those of us who are otherwise stuck at home with two screaming kids, no adult coversation, trying to run a business and sometimes they are rewarding as well.
