Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants To Give Austrian Woman A Hollywood Vacation

Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants To Give Austrian Woman A Hollywood Vacation

Remember the crazy story about Elisabeth Fritzl being locked in a basement and held prisoner by her dad who fathered 6 of her children and kept them locked up as well? They were held captive for 24 years, but Arnold Schwarzenegger now wants to get them out and seeing the world.

He plans to offer Elisabeth and her kids an all expenses paid vacation to California. A source close to Aahhhnald says,

"He’s absolutely determined to do something for this family. These
children have been prisoners all their lives. Can you imagine how
they’d react to Disneyland or a trip to Universal Studios?"

Arnold could also help the family broker a movie deal that will leave them financially set for life.

"Without doubt, he can make sure they meet all the right movers and
shakers. But the main thing is to help them enjoy their freedom by
giving them the trip of a lifetime. He will pay for it privately and Elisabeth and her children will be personal guests."

I don't think a million trips to Disney could even begin to undo any of the psychological damage done to this woman, but it is nice that Arnold wants to help someone from his native country.

I get what he is trying to do, but I think it might be a better idea to help pay for some psychological visits first. I think traveling anywhere might put this woman over the top. I can't even believe what this person has through. My heart goes out to her and her poor children.

I hope they get the psychological help they need before they even think of going to Disneyland. That is more important than anything else right now. He could help pay for their medical bills you know they will have.

This is really a sad story. I hope the kids overcome this tragedy and be able to live a "normal" life.

I think they need therapy first before any trips. Its a nice thought, but I don't think it is going to be that simple.

I think its a great idea for someone to show this family that not all people are evil. I do agree with the rest of the comments that they will need all the psych help they can get. but laughfter is the best medicine and going to disney will be alot of fun for any family maybe just maybe it will take them away from their problems for a little while!

I think it's a good idea as long as they keep everything stress free for the mom. Perhaps have some babysitters and people present to handle the travel and living arrangements. Moreover, therapy can't take the place of actively enjoying a new life and knowing that people care for you (besides the ones you have to pay to care about you)

But really, I hope they keep this really low key if they do it. I am sure the publicity is really traumatizing. Some rape victims are too ashamed to come forward. Imagine having this broadcasted and people pointing and whispering and trying to be extra "sensitive" because they know what happened to you.

I personally, as a resident of Cali, dislike Arnold. His actions seem sincere and sweet, but can you imagine how the kids would react after being help captive for so many years! To see a huge mouse would scare the hell out of me.

I think this could be a fantastic thing for the family but like Blah said if only they could keep the media away from the family because I think that would be worse the situation worse for the victums then any good that could be done by the trip

Thats a nice gesture, but I agree with Vera. They will never recover from this damage. Those poor children!

These children saw the sun for the first time in their lives a couple of weeks ago. They've lived in a basement their entire lives! Never known anyone but each other and their sick father. They're still in intense therapy at a hospital where they've built a makeshift basement for them because that is the only place they feel safe and comfortable. The very LAST thing this family needs is a long-haul transatlantic flight and a California vacation, much less a movie deal. It would be too devastating. Let them heal and don't bother them Arnold!

I think the situation is a little better than you say. Several of the children lived unknowingly above ground and one of the children who lived in the basement is said to be fond of the sun. They're still agoraphobic so they brought in a shipping container or something so that they can retreat to it when they feel overtaxed. From what I have read, they had television in the basement and are curious about new things and they seem to be getting along well all things considered. I don't think taking a family vacation is completely out of the question for the near future.
