Eva Mendes Went To Rehab As Research For A Role?

I wish I could believe this, but for some reason, I doubt it’s true. Eva Mendes supposedly went to rehab to do research for her role in the upcoming movie Queen of the South, about a drug runner.

The 30-year-old actress entered Utah’s Cirque Lodge to "proactively"
attend "to some personal issues", her representative explained at the
time. The move shocked Hollywood, until Mendes landed a role alongside
Josh Hartnett and Sir Ben Kingsley in Queen of the South, which follows her character Teresa Mendoza, who flees Mexico for Spain when her drug-runner boyfriend is murdered.

Gossips are speculating she may have been researching the role in rehab.

So what do you think? Just silly rumors or is there any truth to this?

I doubt it was for research. The other patients at the rehab facility would be able to tell straight away that she was not a real addict and this would upset them. And as someone already mentioned, most dealers are not doing the drugs!

  2. Anastasia Beaverhausen says:

Sounds pretty ridiculous. I don’t think it was for “research”.

  3. maggie says:

i have to agree with all of you. they would have said that she was doing the research the moment she step into the rehab They wouldn’t have let the rumors drag on for months and months and then said “oh by the way…..”

  4. Ashley says:

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Let me just spend 30 days in rehab for research, yeah right. A week or maybe a few days but longer than that? I guess someone’s on damage control but isn’t it a little late?

  5. Elina says:

There is always a possibility..I would expect that of some really off the wall super talented non traditional actress. But Eva is more traditional and she is simply not in the same caliber as the geatest artists to do this kind of research

    Hello,

I already read that book (La Reina Del Sur) and Teresa Mendoza (the character of Eva) use drugs but not too much, I mean, it is not a book (or movie in the future) when they talk about the reaction of the people with drugs, indeed is a very good book and I’m ensure that Eva is going to play good this woman, that, for all you guys, it is real character in Mexico.

It is a pretty lady that become in the Quenn of the cocaine in Spain, Marocoo and Mexico. she is still alive but of course, the real name is not Teresa Mendoza but it is pletty famous in Culiacan Sinaloa Mexico, where she born.

well, the history is really cool (something like the movie blow of jonny deep) but in a woman based in an book based in the real life.

I can’t believe any reputable re-hab facility would allow any one in who really didn’t have a problem.

  8. Lulu says:

I agree. There are very strict privacy controls and no reputable re-hab facility would ever have an “under-cover” patient there to do “research”. Even if they were to consider this proposition, the patients would have to be told why she was there. This would probably compromise the willingness of some of the patients to participate in the programmes offered if they felt they were being observed for reasons other than their own recovery. Patients would also have the right to say they did not want to observed by her. It all sounds ridiculous.

  9. Risa says:

She wouldn’t be the first celeb who has done research for a role in this manner. Many celebs have said they’ve attended AA, NA, etc. to research roles.
They only way the facility would know research was really her reason for being there would be if she told them… or if she passed a drug/alcohol screening. And at that, if she was being proactive about an addiction, she could have still passed a drug/alcohol screening.

  10. Tara Margrét Vilhjálmsdóttir says:

why would her rep say it was ,,for personal issues” if it really was for a movie role? it doesn´t make any sense. AT ALL!! I don´t believe this for a minute. That move gave her a bad rep and I just doesn´t make sense that she intended to do that. She had no reason whatsoever to not give the ,,research”-reason to the media

  11. me646 says:

BULLSHIT. Drug dealers USUALLY NEVER do drugs. So this makes no sense what-so-ever.

  12. insider says:

Wow, of course they do drugs, thats usually how they got involved in dealing! Its funny how we think most celebs are so clean cut…most are getting coked outta their gourd on a regular basis! Even the ones who claim to ‘be clean’. I think clean normal and clean celebrity is totally different

  13. Passerby says:

I don’t care either way. How about that?

  14. Katrina says:

Considering you never see her leaving clubs wasted….I’d say there’s a good chance it really was for research.

  15. Passerby says:

I thought she was an alcoholic? Maybe she drinks alone, at home.

  16. Amy says:

That’s her story and she is stickin’ to it. However, I call BS!!!!!!

  17. gisela says:

sure is true, just like is true that I look like a latina Angelina Jolie and my boyfriend Jose looks just like a latino Brad Pitt.

  18. Kat P says:

She’s said some things in the past with regard to her eating habits that lead me to believe that she’s got an eating disorder, but I don’t think her stint in rehab was for drugs or alcohol.

  19. Brenda says:

I think so too!! When the Rep said “personal issues” an eating disorder was my first thought! I think this story is false, but I wonder if the real reason she went to rehab will ever be reveled.

  20. Passerby says:

Who cares about this ugly slag? MK of dlisted said her next movie will be playing Charles Manson! Haahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

  21. Glad It's Night says:

she could be a closet drunk. and used that as a pretense to getting into that facility. i doubt they would let her in if she didnt have substance abuse issues. besides she maybe have been actually “researching” while she was in rehab.

alcoholism is a slow and quiet disease. she could have been hiding her problem for a long time.
