Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Purchase $60 Million French Chateau

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt want to make sure they have everything they need in place when their twins arrive. That includes a new home in France that set back the couple an estimated $60 million. 1,000 acres, 35 bedrooms (insert joke here about how many children they will have in their lifetime) and a moat. Yes, I said a moat.

"It's called Chateau Miraval in a village called Brignol, which is near from Aix-en-Provence," a source tells E! News. "And it's absolutely unbelievable. "Brad and Angelina are thrilled, they love the place and have already been furniture shopping to fill the place as it's massive," the insider added. "They've already spent almost another million on furniture and the whole family can't wait to move in."

$60 million for an estate? I understand these two are super rich, but that has to hurt their bank accounts a bit doesn't it? I mean, this isn't the first home they have purchased together and odds are the Jolie-Pitt family isn't really going to spend much time there anyway as they are jet setters by nature.

The expectation is that the entire family will be moved in and settled over the next three months. To read more about the house, click on the continue reading link below.

The pre-Roman estate also boasts a swimming pool, billiards room, indoor pool, his-and-hers gyms, sauna and jacuzzi and a huge banquet hall. Magnificent cascading stone-walled terraces have been replanted with 13 different varieties of olives, and water is everywhere on the sprawling estate—20 fountains, aqueducts and a stream that runs through hidden tunnels, passes through the moat and fills the lake.

Except for the ponies and goats grazing in the nearby fields, "the house is surrounded by a forest so they'll have total privacy, which is exactly what they're after," the source tells E! "No one will ever be able to get pictures of them relaxing at home, it's just impossible."

Wow. That's a lot of money! I can't even imagine. But it's their money, and there's no question they need the privacy.

it's kind of ridiculuous talking about saving the world and stuff, and then go buy a 60million house. no, wait. it's disrespectful.

I couldn't agree more. When I saw 20 fountains and 35 bedrooms, I just can't believe that these are the same people who claim to want to help all these poor people. Give that $$ to people who need it!

Chateau Miraval is a vineyard. I am just not buying this rumor.

I lived in Aix-en-Provence..."Capturing Life" is right...this is a fairly decent sized vineyard near there. It would be possible for them to have bought the estate and allow others to run the vineyard...I don't know though, it's a little far fetched.

60million? Honestly!!! Don't they have like 4 $60 million dollar houses now? Where do they get this kind of money? They don't have that many films do they? Insane!

with that many rooms hopefully, they will loose themselves and we will never have to hear of them again.

The kids could play and and seek and never be found again. Seriously I have have enough trouble tracking down my husband for dinner in our humble abode. Can't imagine trying to find him in a 35 bedroom house. I guess you would need an intercom system.

Surely they're entitled to spend their own money as they see fit? How is it disrepectful? They already give a lot more money and time to charity than most celebs do combined. If I had the paps following me the way they follow them and if I could afford to buy the privacy they obviously need, I would do it in a heartbeat. Besides, real estate is usually a good investment. ~ Nyx ~

If this rumour is true, they better make sure they watch their kids with water. I'm sure the kids are smart and all, but so much water can get dangerous.

I seriously doubt this is true. There is no point in buying such expensive property when they will be there for a few weeks out of the year. Also they are not billionaires. That's too much for a couple of movie stars. I think they are worth $200 million together. Odds are they are just renting for a few months not buying if they are going to stay in France until the birth of their twins.

It's their money. But does this mean they're moving to France permanently?

I've read on a french website that they didn't buy the castle but rent it for 3 years. That makes more sense.

I hope this is true. I would like to see them move to France permanently. I find every move they make to be calculating. They are too perfect and appear pretentious-bet there's a lot of fighting in that household, then all smiles when the cameras are on.

Jealousy is so unbecoming. Why is it so hard for people to be happy for others who are happy? It's their money and if this is true I see nothing wrong with their choices on how to spend it.
Passerby (not verified)Passerby (not verified) said:
It's not jealousy. It irks to be preached at by people who are mega rich that we should be giving more of our money to the poor, and living more simply while reducing our carbon footprint. They throw a few million here and there to some good causes while making sure the cameras are rolling and then return to one of their mansions. It is the hypocrisy which is so astounding, and Ms Jolie and her manbag Pitt must be a couple of the worst offenders.
<a href="/user/492" title="View user profile.">Ali</a>Ali said:
So in order for them to please you, they would need to do what exactly? Live in a trailer and do without? They do donate their time, energy and money to helping other people. They can't save the entire world, even if they threw all of their money at fighting world issues. How is it hypocrisy exactly? You don't know if they are living green inside their home or not. This appears to me to be nothing more than anger at their wonderful lifestyle that they earned.
