When I first heard this story, I thought it was a joke. Unfortunately, it is just too sad to be funny, and it really shows Ms. Malkin's ignorance (as if that needed to be shown) because the only thing that scarf shares with the keffiyeh she referred to is that it is black and white. She'd better not see my closet, then. I have three scarves that are black and white. Better alert Homeland Security. Yikes. I just can't believe how this story got picked up to the point that Dunkin pulled the ad. That scares me a bit.

WOW. It must be awful to live with that kind of ignorance and fear everyday. How on earth could DD have been pushed that hard? I really am having a difficult time believing this story is for real! Shouldn't we be teaching our children tolerance, and that diversity is a good, necessary thing? Again, another day I am not proud to be an American.

This scarf DOES look like a keffiya and it is not only worn by Arab men but it is actually often seen as a symbol of murder, fascism and jihad. Ignorance actually turned this political symbol into a fashion item.
Lily, it's you being ignorant. the keffiyeh has been worn by people for so long, it hasn't only now turned into a fashion item (I've known it for over 20 years, seen it in France all the time,´not only worn by Arabs) it's because of you ignorant people that even a cloth turns into something "terrorist". Well, you may not believe it, but: I've spent the past 24 years in Europe, so I do know the style here. Here're some facts: In Germany, the Keffiya was a symbol of sympathy with the PLO during the late 60s and for many it still is. Thus, the somehow complementary movement of the "Antideutschen" condemns exactly this scarf as symbol of terrorism, which is supported by the fact, that racist groups chose exactly the kefiyah as part of their "uniform". So, sure, these people are most likely not Arabs, but through a weird connection they share some ideology (genocide for example) and thus symbolism. (I'll not draw the swastica-comparison that's coming to my mind right now.)
This is a reverse-reverse-cointelpro operation. DD had to accept the mission because they're in the pockets of Big Brother; what, you didn't know that the donut is actually often seen as a symbol of murder, fascism and police?
The "terrorists" get what they want. Why are we again changing our ways?

I am a "conservative" missyfussy but that doesn't mean I agree with this. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Stop assuming all people who are conservative have the same exact thoughts. So...it's just a scarf...and people can be so petty, there are bigger stories to focus on rather than making a big fuss about a scarf. People will get offended by anything nowadays.

It is a paisley scarf worn by a cooking show host in a coffee commericial. That is IT, no hidden messages or a blatant terrorist leaning on Rachel Ray's part, just a scarf. What has the world come to that we have these knee jerk reactions because some ditz on Fox news mouths the word terrorist.
I love INO but I hardly ever read comments. I made an exception in this case, though. I was soo outraged when I heard about this and it is reassuring to see that I am not alone. The scarf looks like a keffiya. Yes, it does and that's ok. It doesn't make us all terrorists because we wear the same scarf as some extremists. The keffiya is beautful, as are all other country-specific traditional garb.
I spent a total of a year in Saudi Arabia and I never would have made the connection. Are people insane!!?? Even if it was the same scarf ....so what.... more non-terrorist Arabs where them than terrorist Arabs. Does every kid that dresses up as a ghost for Halloween represent the KKK? PLEASE ... this country is going insane with political correctness and such.
This ridiculous episode shows how controlling the Israeli lobby has become in enforcing their standards on American politics as well as culture. In my opinion, when a foreign country's politicians and activists force their beliefs on our government as well on individuals' activities, freedom, and personal choices, it is just as scary as any terrorist activity. p.s. Urban Outfitters are selling a keffiyeh print scarf (link below). Do they also support terrorist activities? And Marshalls currently has a $9.99 version in their stores as well.
