Angelina Jolie is so close to her due date that she could be giving birth any day now. And she’s preparing herself to do things the natural way!
"She prepared for a natural child birth for Shiloh and was very
disappointed when her doctors told her she would have to undergo a
Cesarean section," a source close to Angelina tells OK!. "She is praying everything will go her way and she will be able to enjoy a natural birth."
But, in case that’s not possible, she’ll still be happy as long as the babies are healthy. The family even has round the clock nurses on hand who are staying until the twins arrive. They are ready!
"Whether Angelina experiences natural childbirth or has a scheduled
C-section, she will not go to full term with the twins. She’s been told to expect the babies early, and that was the
reason she and Brad went early to France – so they would be ready for
their babies whenever they decide to make their appearance."
With C-sections and the whole "too Posh to push," movement started by Victoria Beckham years ago, I was actually surprised to read that Angie wants a natural birth. Do you think she could be the one to reverse the c-section trend in Hollywood?

What makes you think that only “REAL WOMEN” have natural, vaginal births? I scheduled my elective c-section and it doesn’t make me any less of a woman.” Any woman who gives birth, no matter which way they have that baby is a “REAL WOMAN.”
“enjoy” a natural birth… uh, okay. I guess that can be “enojyable” somehow.
On another note, anyone know who makes the dress she’s wearing? I love it.
never given birth but it seems to be the best way. sometimes it is difficult to give birth to twins by normal delivery and previous c section. It might rupture. most Hollywood trends though are annoying and will work for you if you are Beckham, Madonna, and the rest of this shallow cohort
I was about to post the exact same thing but you beat me to it….How that is enjoyable I do not know
It won’t be up to Angie. Her doctor will decide. More and more, they’re going back to the old “once a C-section, always a c-section” rule because there have been more uterine ruptures during VBACs. It’s very rare to have twins vaginally, and she has already had a C-section once…I bet she has another one, whether she wants to or not.
I guess you and Ellie haven’t experienced the truest sense of accomplishment from fruits of hard labor (no pun intended). There is nothing more enjoyable or rewarding. This is what women alone can do and the elation that comes from knowing you did something amazing, without intervention, as nature intended, there is no better feeling.
With that said, sometimes natural childbirth isn’t an option. If someone has to have intervention I’m glad it is available to her but I wish people would at least consider having children the way our Grandmother’s did before us.
Why is this newsworthy?
THANK YOU!!
FINALLY a celeb that is going to be a REAL WOMAN and let the baby(s) come out the way God intended. I am tired of these prissy celebs scheduling C-sections. Let the doctor decide what is safer, but otherwise plan on doing it vaginally.
She’s powerful, but she ain’t THAT powerful!! ; )
Good for her, but if the Dr says she’ll need the C-section after all, she should do it for the safety of her babies and self.
4 kids, all “naturally” birthed. lol With my 3rd child, we were living in a new city, so new Dr. He was suggesting to me that I get a C-section so that I don’t change the shape of my body even more. I told him no way. If I can do it with no problems, I’m doing it naturally. I’ll only get a C-section if the baby is in danger. He was shocked to hear it because apparently he has a lot of requests for this procedure.
Now what I want to know, is how many others read an article about more and more health insurances turning down women who need coverage because of past C-sections? And then those they currently cover who had this procedure done, are having to pay higher premiums?
http://wellpreserved.wordpress.com/2008/06/01/c-sections-and-insurance-in-the-new-york-times/
i had twins. Naturally. I wish the same to Angie!
How does one “enjoy” a natural birth? Come on!!!
you kidding? its the most rewarding experience in the world, natural child birth IS and always will be an amazing enjoyable experience!
I get quite annoyed at people sneering “too posh to push”. David Beckham confirmed in an interview Victoria couldn’t give birth naturally and required c-sections. I know this is possible as my aunt had this problem also . A c-section is a major operation, it is more risky to mum than a natural birth, and I think repeated c-sections can increase the risks for mum also.
Just because that’s what a “source” is saying doesn’t mean it’s true – she probably had a c-section because she wanted to, just like everyone else. Just like I will! hahahahaha
you are pathetic!
I imagine alot of these hollywood moms have c-sections because they’re so freakishly tiny. How can someone deliver a baby naturally if they’re only the size of a child themselves?
ALSO – it’s sort of weird that as everything in this world has been modernized, and has evolved, but people think that just because it’s childbirth that THAT won’t evolve as well. People, if they’re given choices, can make those choices. It’s nothing to judge people on – people have different priorities, if giving birth through your vagina isn’t your cup of tea, let it be!! Big deal!!
thanxx
Why do these women think a c section is easier anyway?
FYI, Im 5’1″, and weighed a whopping 98 lbs when 5 months pregnant with my first. Im tiny. Guess what? Two kids, no C-section. I have a friend who’s 4’10″. She had a 9 lb baby 2 years ago. Dont let size fool you. It’s not about how tall your are or how skinny. It’s all about the inside of the pelvis, and you cant tell squat about it by just looking.
Actually, it can be a very rewarding experience. I had my first child with an epidural in the whole time. Guess what? It was miserable. All the poking and prodding and monitors and having to stay in one place, all because of the stupid epidural (that stopped working on half my body).
Second child- NO pain relief, no epidural, no poking, no prodding, no monitors. I used Hypnobirthing and it worked SO AMAZINGLY. And it was the most incredible experience because it was so calm and quiet. Really a perfect moment in time. I didnt even need pain relievers afterwards, despite the nurses trying to push it on me. I felt like I’d had a strenuous workout, thats about it. I carried my newborns carseat up a flight of stairs the day I got out of the hospital.
So yes, it can be incredibly enjoyable, as opposed to the stress invoked by 400 medical interventions in the space of 24 hours.
And Ill tell you, I enjoyed my recovery a WHOLE lot more than my friends with C-sections.
Enjoy a natural birth.. ha ha That’s a good one.
Millions of women give birth naturally, when will some people realize that this skank did not invent motherhood or child birth. She wants to prove that she is all woman. This slut will do anything for publicity.
After 72 hour of labor and no drugs a c-section became necessary for me due to the fact that my son was not able to pass through the birth canal. It was very dissappointing but I am thankful every day for the medical intervention that saved my son and me.
To be honest I think that it sounds risky going for a v-bac with twins. She kind of reminds me of the sort of person that has to prove that she can do everything – and that is not a reason to go for a v-bac.
Her skeletal frame looks barely capable of carrying two babies – and I would bet anyone serious money that she is carrying twins because she was using fertility drugs. It seems like she really should be taking it easy. The stress she is putting on an already fragile frame is ridiculous.
What does it matter to anyone how others choose to have their children?
Natural child birth enjoyable – right. Been there – done that – didn’t enjoy it until the epidural.
Janepitt – you took the words right out of my mouth.
I think you may need to calm down. How can you be this upset at that comment? Breathe.
You do know that none of the celebrities people bitch about would be famous if you didn’t comment and read the articles about it. The reason why comments like Jolie’s make it anywhere is not just b/c she wants to be in the limelight, it’s because people want to hear every tidbit. Don’t deny you love to hate on her, that’s why you’re on this board. You and JanePitt (haha) fuel the fame you hate so much. Embrace it.
looking at Posh’s built I am surprised she was able to conceive at all. Women with narrow hips have difficulties delivering. And Posh’s body looks like a twig. Is she even a woman?
Everyone should watch Ricki Lakes movie “The Business of Being Born”. It will dispell a lot of the myths floating around out there. Scroll down on this link to hear Ricki Lake talk about VBACs: http://www.amazon.com/Business-Being-Born-Ricki-Lake/dp/B0013LL2XY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1212635744&sr=8-1
VBACS are possible. But most doctors will not tell you this due to insurance policies. Basically, if they want to get paid by the insurance companies – they will insist on previous c section mommies to undergo it again. We have a 50% c section rate in this country – and that is NOT normal. C sections are doctors friendly not mommy friendly.
But yeah, please watch “The Business of Being Born” if you are a mommy or know of someone who will be a mommy. You will feel so angry with the healthcare industry after you find out how you’ve been LIED to by doctors and insurance companies.
Edipurals, PITS, all interventions done in hospitals are NOT safe for babies. Google the dangers of it. Do your own research. Don’t believe everything doctors are telling you!!!
“enjoy a natural birth”……
Is it possible to enjoy it? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.
It is possible to feel conflicting emotions that are tied to one specific thing. Think outside the box.
I have four children I had my first one with an epidural and it was awful. I was throwing up the whole time, I had my next two without any pain meds and although painful it was wonderful, and I learned that if you don’t tense up during the contractions you dilate quicker. My fourth child was breech and very large and I had to have a C-section, and I am telling you I would rather have 10 vaginal births to 1 C-section. I was so sore. It took me 3 weeks to heal, my insison got infected and I had to have help lifting heavy things, and that was hard on my 2 year old at the time to tell him mommy couldn’t hold him.
I think Nicole Richie had natural birth (with her tiny little self). She and the baby left the hospital the very next day. If I understand correctly you can’t do that with a C-Section.
I had both my kids naturally. You do feel like a super woman after it’s done. And for my first i was completely amazed that staying calm and breathing really did control the pain. Everything was calm and quiet, the lights were dim and amber (and not those harsh flourescents required for a surgery). It was a beautiful (only 27 minutes of active labor thank you! go ab ball!) experience.
I wish…
A. People would stop talking about Angelina and her damn kids all the time.
2. That women with kids would stop talking down to women without children. Big deal, you got knocked up and had a kid. Any girl who has had their period and has sex unprotected can accomplish that.
D. That women with kids would stop talking about how ‘beautiful’ pregnancy and child birth are. Cuz when it comes down to it, its not pretty. Be truthful. The product maybe ‘beautiful’ but the process at times is horrific.
I’m not judging anyone, but I do think that a c-section should be a last resort option. The “evolution” of childbirth? C-section was first done as a last-resort option and it should remain as such unless there is a medical reason to perform one that will save the mother or child.
Celebrities have c-sections for vanity’s sake and for their schedules. Really, really sad.
The only reason there have been more uterine rupture after c-sections is because Obstetricians got lazy and began using one layer of stitching instead of the RIGHT two layers of stitching, thus causing unnecessary rupturing.
I have a very petite frame and was never told I would need a c section based on that and carrying twin boys to term.
she have the money to ‘fix’ her vagina after natural birth, vaginoplasty after natural delivery make it
possible for sex to still be enjoyable.
That is not true in anyway!!!!! I gave birth to twins 6 years ago all natural!!!!!! I refused to be cut open especially when it is not necessary. Everything turned out perfect and my babies were huge for twins!!!! Check your facts first or if you have been there then you have some room to make calls like that!!!!
if you having twins is much safe for both children and mother to have a c-section.
As for twins, I don’t know much; as for breech births, many were done in the past vaginally but Docs are trained now for automatic C-secs. I do know this: my first child was born via c-sec with general anesthesia and my 2nd child was an unplanned repeat c-sec, also with general anesthesia. I was disappointed with these birth experiences as I felt I was not a part of them. I’m not sure I really needed to have general anesthesia anyway–sometimes anesthesiologist calls the shots. My 3rd child was also an unplanned c-sect. but my birth experience was enhanced by the presence of my Cert. Practical Midwife. I labored at home and, when things didn’t progress, we went to the hospital–I trusted my midwife’s judgement. She stood by me and told me everything that was happening during the surgery. When I became pregnant a 4th time, I consulted with an OB and midwife supporter who, after looking over my hospital records, told me I had a 50/50 chance for a VBAC. That was good enough for me to try! I had a lay-midwife (nurse-midwives are still tied to hospital protocol) who placed me on the Brewer Diet, practiced pregnancy yoga, etc. (BTW, midwives limit their case load so they can spend 2-3 times more time with you, and give lots more info and encouragement than any doctors I had). I labored at home, had planned a home birth & then decided upon a change of atmosphere & called my GP. I was fully dilated when I got to the hospital, I had eaten and drank throughout labor. My 4th child was born vaginally, no spinal, no epidural, no episiotomy. Episiotomies are not necessary most of the time but that’s what is taught in Med School–certain positions make tearing more likely. My doctor allowed my baby’s head to stretch the tissue during/following crowning. I did have a small internal tear (~6 stitches) but my baby weighed 10 lbs. 2 oz.! I was 40 years old; my first was born when I was 24. I experienced what is meant by the emotional high you can have with a natural birth. And yes, I did bond with my baby more than in previous births–I couldn’t stop looking at him; for a time, I felt as though he was my world. I was blessed with a good doctor (now, deceased, sadly), nurses & midwife. Was I obsessed? I don’t think so–for me, having a VBAC was life-altering. I don’t believe it was all due to luck; chances of rupture are small but increase greatly if labor is induced…it takes a different set of skills & less reliance on technology perhaps…but the outcome can be awesome!
What is the big deal about elective c-sections? I think every woman should be allowed to decide how they want to have their baby. I’m so sick of hearing people say that “REAL WOMEN” only give birth naturally or vaginally. Any woman who gives birth via c-section, vaginally with a real MD, and even with a wanna be doctor, “aka Midwife”, is a “REAL WOMAN.” I’m not a movie star, and I had a scheduled c-section. My daughter was born healthy & happy. She didn’t have the “conehead.” I didn’t force my daughter to push her way out with my help. The recovery isn’t as bad as everyone claims. If you are fat and lazy then it probably is bad. If you are active and not fat, then you recover within a week maybe that’s why it was so easy for me.
I think you are horrible
About time a celebrity does the right thing and has a baby the natural way. Scheduling c-sections is HORRIBLE. Its like women don’t care enough about their baby to wait until its the right time. The only excuse for a c-section is because you NEED one, not want one. DISGUSTING!!!!!
First of all…. she probably would like a natural birth so she can get to experience it at least once but under her conditions (previous c-section, high risk pregnancy, and not being strong enough to have natural birth because of weight) she will most likely have c-section. SO doesnt matter what she might want is not her call.
Your comment is HORRIBLE and lack sympathy for the right for a woman to choose whether to have a natural birth or not.
We are in the 21st century and guess what… we no longer need midwives, have to suffer pain if you dont choose to. So women who have epidurals are also Horrible???
Excuse me? please tell us that you weren’t “thinking” when you wrote that. The RIGHT thing is to have a baby come into the world the way you want, either being vaginally or by section. Claiming one is better than another is just ridiculous. Geez, I just don’t understand women!
I am all for Natural Birth, (a fan of “Business of Being Born” ) but I believe the comment “Disgusting” is too much. No women giving north are disgusting to me.

I agree!
It is brave thing that you are going to have your babies in natural way.
It will be the hardest pain that you are going to have.
Stay as strong my dear beautiful.
I want to be a strong as like as you.
You are the most sexiest women in this world I have ever seen. Can’t be
compared.
I will pray for you.
Take care.
I’ve never had to have a C-section, so I’m not sure how I feel about it…but I wish her the very best of luck!
I thought once you had a c-section all births following are c-sections.
I think it’s a trend in hollywood to have c-sections is because they all have stds. (not kidding)
my first was c section
my second was natural

I’ll be having my third scheduled c-section next month (NOT by choice….first was breech, 2nd was a repeat and this one will be as well). I’m surprised they’ll let her attempt a VBAC w/ twins, but if she can pull it off good for her! And because of insurance costs (specifically malpractice), most doctors in the US will do a repeat C vs. a VBAC. It sucks, but in our litigious society, it’s been a ramification.
If you have a c section and give birth within 5 years i think they automatically do a c section because of the danger of tearing scar tissue?? If she had a c section with the first and she’s prego with twins i think they wouldn’t chance it with natural.
passerby at 4:17 – you might not have been kidding, but your comment made me LMAO!!
I’ve heard different things about the VBAC (vag. birth after c-section)… some say it’s OK and some say you gotta do all c’s after having one. I guess it depends on the situation.
I never knew that posh started the c section trend!!! I remember Britney & Xtina doing it more recently, but that’s it.
As far as what SHOULD be done – I’ve always maintained that it’s each person’s individual choice. Having a baby is so personal and each mom needs to do what’s best for her and her baby. I feel the same way about the breastfeeding controversy. To each his own!!
Actually Marta, thats not true. A C-section is not the healthiest thing to do if mother and babies are not in distress and everything is normal. I know a mom who had twins naturally after a c-section… AT HOME with a midwife. Both babies were perfect, born absolutely healthy with zero complications.
Angie has always struck me as a woman who feels like pregnancy and childbirth are empowering events in a woman’s life. I was surprised to hear that she had a c-section the first time till I found out Shiloh was breech. My fingers are crossed that Angie will get the birth experience she wants, and two perfectly healthy babies along with it!
PS. I think the whole “too posh to push” phenomenon is pathetic and terribly vain! If some of those twits knew how short my recovery was with my daughter, they’d wish they’d tried it natural too. I’ve had workouts that were more painful to recover from. LOL
Here here!!! Well said!
And as to the “”enjoy” labor” comment below… Many women do actually enjoy it. Not to say there is no pain, or they enjoy the pain, but it’s like running a marathon. The sense of pride and accomplishment from that event not to mention the sweet little baby they get as a result can actually be called an enjoyable experience.
I have also read that just because a woman has a “pain free” birth doesn’t mean that she rates the birth as a more enjoyable experience than mothers who went without any pain meds. I find this topic interesting if you can’t tell!
Also, it depends on what kind of c-section you had the first time as to what happends the second. A “classic” is where the incision is vertical on your tummy and requires a repeat C (due to the possiblility of splitting the scar tissue in the uterus). The “bikini” or horizontal incision is low down on the uterus and a natural birth can usually be attempted.
Just FYI
I’ve had two vaginal births. I have to say that my second one was the most satisfying experience of my life. I had an epidural so the pain was minimal, but being able to feel my baby come into the world was incredible. I am saddened to see so many celebrities chose csections. I think that cutting into your body is a major surgery and would avoid it and the complications it could bring at all costs.
Vera,
If you don’t mind, could you email me about this? I have been looking for a VBAC mommy. I just had my first child 2 months ago and had to go c-section because he was breech. I would love to hear about what docs told you about the vbac and what made you decide to take the chance. My doc doesn’t do them and he said I would have to go to another doctor if I wanted to try naturally next time.
I had a C-section for my first child and subsequently had 3 VBAC’s. I didn’t think the C-section was bad at all.
My one-liner to anyone who asks is that ,”With a C-section I couldn’t stand up, and with a natural birth I couldn’t sit down.”
Just find a Dr. who’s willing to go VBAC with you. I have a niece who had a C for her first for a breech delivery and her Dr. really didn’t give her the choice of going VBAC even though I tried to tell her she would feel better doing so.
Take care and good luck!
this site it obsessed with angelina HOlie and babies!
you act like if your not a mother your not important!
I honestly cannot believe this story – VBAC is almost universally NOT recommended for women carrying twins. The risk for rupture is just too high, which would likely kill the babies.
If Angelina is really going for a VBAC, then she is truly selfish – risking her babies lives just so she can have her “birth story.” Ugh.
Wow, it makes me sad that so many people don’t realize it is usually safe to try for a vaginal birth after one cesarean section.
To address the rumors above:
–It’s safe to have twins vaginally if the first twin is head first and your doctor has the appropriate experience/training
–you don’t have to wait 5 years after a c-section to try for a vaginal delivery safely
–the skin incision tells you nothing about the scar on your uterus; you have to ask your doctor to find out what type of scar you have on the inside (almost everyone in the US has the type that makes VBAC safe)
–the rate of rupture of the uterus after a c-section has not been rising; this is still quite rare, but obviously very dangerous when it happens.
–each cesarean carries increased risk for the mother (more scar tissue, more chance of bleeding, more risk of damage to organs, more placenta problems, etc with each surgery)
–your doctor doesn’t just “decide”. There are doctors with different opinions just as all of you have different opinions. If you have a preference for your birth which is reasonable, and your doctor doesn’t do that (i.e., your doctor doesn’t do VBACs), they should refer you to someone who does!
Good luck to all the expectant mothers out there!
http://www.webmd.com/baby/tc/vaginal-birth-after-cesarean-vbac-overview
Approx 40% of births by first time mothers are c-sections and Victoria Beckham did not opt for a c-section because she was too posh to push, her doctor advised her she couldn’t give birth naturally.
A c-section is usually much more painful (my sister had first an emergency c-section and with the second child a normal birth and she said the c-section left her in pain much much longer than the vaginal birth).
I hope Angelina Jolie can give birth naturally and all goes well. Can’t wait for those babies to be born!
Why does anyone here feel that they know anything about any celebrity’s inner thoughts and why they do things???
Enjoy birth? Check this out. http://www.orgasmicbirth.com/. I have seen this with my own eyes and actually got to experience it myself, with one of my births. Amazing. Not what we are told is possible.
Every mother I have met (I’m a home birth/birth center physician) makes her decisions about place of birth based on what is good for her baby/ies. I don’t think physiologic birth is a selfish choice.
There are a lot of dangers to natural birth so don’t knock C-sections. C-sections can prevent the child form being oxygen deprived and brain damaged.
