Jessica Simpson Finds Success With Country Album

Jessica Simpson Finds Success With Country Album

I'm not going to lie, Jessica Simpson's new country song, Come On Over, has kind of grown on me. And I'm really happy that she seems to be finding success in this new genre for her!

“Come On Over,” which was released to country radio last week and
debuted at no. 41 on Billboard’s country singles charts, makes Simpson
the highest charting debut solo artist in the history of Billboard’s
country singles chart.

The previous record belonged to Miranda Lambert and Brad Cotter who both debuted at No. 42.

Jessica talked about what it was like hearing this particular song on the radio for the first time.

“I got chills and butterflies in my stomach. It felt like the first
time I heard myself on the radio when I was 19. Country is where my
heart is. It’s refreshing to share something that feels so close to
home. I am so honored to become a part of the country community.”

If you haven't heard the song, check it out here. What do you think? Is country music going to give Jessica her chance to shine?

I don't really care for her :( but wish her luck. To me her voice sounds the same no matter what she's singing.

I'm not a fan but I heard the song and really liked it. I hope she's found her niche. :)

I think country pop is her niche. There are certainly way worse country acts than her. And I'm a country fan. At least she can hold a tune in a bucket unlike some of the newer country acts coming out. She probably should've done this from the start.

Country and western music now? Hhhmpf. Who'd a figure that one out, eh girls? I guess it makes sense though, eh? Whereas King Midas had the problem where everythng he touched turned to gold, with this young lady it seems to be the... opposite, to be polite. Relationships? Failure after failure. Pop music career? Insignificant. Movie career? A real joke, right? Otis Rail

Don't agree - think it sounds BAD!!!

No way. Just because she is a Texan doesn't make her country-music material. First, her voice sucks - alternately breathy and over-the-top, strained and shouting. There are too many truly gifted country music singers out there that outshine her. Second, she is TOO Hollywood. She is all Louis Vitton, dinner at the Ivy, paparazzi and teacup poodles. Country music still expects a bit of accessibility in their stars, a bit of "realness," which Jess is sorely lacking. She is just a spoiled Daddy's girl. Her best role is that of an heiress - too bad her Daddy doesn't have any money (aside from that he gets by sponging off - I mean "managing" - his talentless daughters!)
