Charlize Theron Thinks Celebrities Who Crave Tabloid Fame Are Sad

Charlize Theron doesn't believe being part of the tabloid game is part of her job. In fact, she feels sorry for people who think that acting and celebrity go hand in hand. Charlize says her life is her own and no one owns the rights to it.
"It comes across as this really sad need for approval. I’ve heard people make comments like, ‘You don’t really want to be in the tabloids but you need to be for your career’. They believe it’s actually important. It’s not. It’s ugly.
 "People say, ‘That’s your job.’ It really isn’t, actually. It’s not my job to go out there and make an a$$ out of myself.Â
"Like, your life belongs to us now? That’s the deal? I didn’t get that memo. It wasn’t sent to me and I didn’t sign it. So, f**k you."

I agree, if you want to be famous just to be famous then whatever, but for some celebrities, they didn't want to be famous just to be famous, they wanted to be famous for an art, e.g. acting, good music etc. The lindsays and paris and whatevers are just sadcases. Cheers to Charlie :)
I think that celebrities know how it is once you cross that line into stardom. It is ultimately their decision to step over into that realm when they become famous. If they didn't want it, they didn't have to become actors/actresses/models. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but they live the ultimate lifestyles, hearing them whine about the attention ticks me off.
Just because they are actors, doesn't mean they all want the attention. (especially when most of the time it's made-up) I like her attitude. Those tabloids have no rights to her life...just like they have no rights to ours!
Maybe she is right a little bit but let's face it, she is lying if she says she just wants to act and not be famous. If so then why does she bother to go on magazine cover and red carpet stuff. Plus, like every job, it comes with pros and cons and she should accept that tabloids come with the territory. Maybe she is complaining cause she wants to be in one of them so people will go and watch her rather boring movies but she cannot seem to get the attention. Boo hoo. STOP COMPLAINING. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED YOU'RE NOT IN THE TABLOIDS SO WHY ALWAYS BRING IT UP
The world of celebrity fixation existed LONG before Ms. Theron joined it, so I have a a hard time feeling sympathy for someone who relishes the oversized rewards of fame, but then bashes the negative side. As far as being recognized for "the work" there are plenty of actors that stay out of the tabloids because they live the lives she claims that she wants. Well, I want to be a teacher AND AFFORD my mortgage payment, but it isn't going to happen. Things are tough all over.
FYI, being on magazine covers and walking the red carpet ARE part of the job. It's called promoting your projects and that's a whole lot different than being photographed buying your morning coffee or walking down the street with your mom. I agree that celebrities unfortunately have to expect intrusion in their lives now that their faces are well-known, but I don't agree they have to accept all the craziness that comes with it with a smile on their face.

Um,.. how odd she has priority of when she can be called upon for photos. I remember a bunch of set up shoots with her boyfriend on the sea swept rocks in swimsuits and others taken in secret of her with the apple bong and smoking grass.. uh huh.
What a total bunch of crock. When Charlize was campaining for the oscar, this bitch revealed everything about her personal life and that of her mother. Before she was nominated she would never discuss her mother. During that time every interview this hypocrite give was about her mom killing her father. I lost all respect for her during that time. She is just like the others a sad fame whore who when it serves her will do any thing for publicity.

Again, boo hoo hoo. I feel so sorry for you Charlize. You're so rich, you get all the best clothes and bags for free, you can feel up your gaz tank without worrying, you can travel all over the world without prejudice, you're actually hot. But why? Ok you're an actor but also cause you are famous. If you really don't wanna be famous then there are other actors out there who are really good who would trade place with you so what do you say now? BTW, what movie was she promoting at MTV movie awards? For all actors out there, tabloids and paparazzi are part of the territory so deal with it. And for those who say "Let's not be intrusive", you went on a gossip website, obviously you're interested too. Hypocrite, that's how I call these celebs who keep complaining about fame but as soon as they have a movie or project coming out they start talking about their personal life and stuff. I don't feel bad for her at all.

Some people here are so stupid. Because someone doesn't agree with her doesn't mean he/she is a hater. This is a discussion blog damit. Grow up. Everybody has a right to their opinion too anyway. Let's face it, many celebs have made carreers by being in tabloids. There's nothing wrong with that. Maybe she should learn being a celeb is not only being an actor. There are other jobs a celeb can do. She should get over herself always saying that she is better than anybody else out there. I remember when she slammed Halle Berry for doing Catwoman. Plus celebs' lives are interesting and hers is not.
She's gotten more than a little full of herself, hasn't she?? I've never intentionally seen any of her movies, so I'm not real sure what I missed; however, I am kind of hooked on these gossip blogs. Sounds to me like she's a whole bunch of nothing, complete with ginormous, sanctimonious ego. She now ranks with the GMD...no matter how interesting one of their movies may sound, neither of them will get one red cent of my hard-earned money.

Some of you on here think being an actor and being famous goes with the territory of the tabloids. Who says?? Is it a LAW that states once famous you will automatically be hounded by the paparazzi? It's one thing to do photo ops, etc., but to be photographed everywhere you go is pure insanity.

My heart bleeds. On the way up, actresses such as Ms Theron court the media for publicity at every opportunity and in every form as it serves their career aspirations. Then when they get there, they want to associate with the media only when it suits them. The more intrusive parts of the media, ie the paparazzi and tabloids which feed off them, they want to go away altogether. "I am now an artiste, and my private life is off limits," they bleat. Sorry, darling, but you can't have it both ways. As has been said above, it goes with the territory. If you really don't like the tabloid attention, bow out - or is the money you're paid just too much to give up? Everything has its price. You sold your privacy for the fame that goes with being an actress. The clothes in the photo don't exactly shout modesty either!

Like someone said earlier, when you're taking a walk with you'r mum or walking around and you'r pics are taken...That's not fun. So all of you out there who are sharing praises of her comments and comdemning the paps should stand behind your altruistic conviction; get off these celebrity sites.
