Dr. Drew Pinsky Is Scared For His Life
I mean... is he MAD? Who on EARTH would say anything bad about Scientology these days? Hasn't he SEEN the video? Everyone that does dies - it's like The Happening but in real life. Dr. Drew Pinsky is singing a different tune after recently calling Tom Cruise's religion a cult.
"A lot of people in the public eye who behave strangely have mental
illness we can learn from, and much of it is based on childhood trauma,
without a doubt," says Pinsky. "Take a guy like Tom Cruise. Why would
somebody be drawn into a cultish kind of environment like Scientology?
To me, that's a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious
neglect in childhood – maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect."
He must have came home one day and found all the animals in his house dead and all his cereal boxes emptied on his kitchen floor. I'm just kidding Tom!!
Today People Magazine has a new apologetic statement from Drew saying he was just using Tom as an example and by no means was diagnosing him.
"Dr. Drew meant no harm to Mr. Cruise and apologizes if his comments were hurtful," Pinsky's rep said in a statement. "Although Mr. Fields's intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr.
Drew, under no circumstances is Dr. Drew making a blanket diagnosis
about Scientology nor Mr. Cruise whom he does not know. Dr. Drew was
simply using Mr. Cruise as an example of someone who is recognizable to
help the public understand. Again, Dr. Drew meant him no harm."

It's getting crazy how people think they can just go on and slam somedody else like Tom Cruise just cause he has a different religion. Maybe he didn't diagnose him but nevertheless he associated his name and religion with mental illness as an exemple.
All of you out there, including you VERA, who find pleasure slamming people like Tom Cruise, look at your life first and tell us what do you do that is better than his. By the way, you don't even know him. Maybe you said you were joking with you quote above (about dead animals) but I think that's not funny.
And I am not a Tom cruise die hard fan.
tom has been known to criticize other ppl too... ppl such as brooke shields, and many others.. do your research...

Dr Drew didn't call the Sci's a cult, he said "cult-ish" and he didn't diagnose Tom Cruise as having a mental disorder he only made an observation about a VERY public person. I don't know anything about Dr Drew but is he a trained, board certified psychologist? If he's not then he's made a bit of a mess here, if he is then he's more than qualified to make the observation he made. More qualified than Mr Cruise to make some of the blanket statements he has made on mental issues in the past. If Cruise can't take it, he shouldn't give it.

So Cruise can go ahead and slam people like Brooke Shields, who was suffering from post-partum depression, because he's a qualified actor? And a licensed and board certified addiction medicine specialist can't use someone who goes public with every little issue, who arranges photo opportunities with paparazzi if he needs publicity for his movies, who's said in interviews that he was abused as a kid, who is a member of a dangerous cult (which is not accepted as a church in Europe but under observation there because its ideas are viewed as unconstitutional in most countries) as an example for someone who'd need help? Hypocrite much? And then that lawyer goes ahead and compares someone he doesn't know to a dangerous mass-murderer? Can I say double standards?

Vera, It seems like any public figure that slams Tom and his religion ends up dead. I can certainly see why you wouldn't say anything bad about him. I bet sooner or later this Pinskey guy ends up dead. I think you bloggers are feeling the pressure to not say anything bad about him or scientology anymore. My feeling is that you have all been threatened in some way to watch what you say. It is just a feeling I am getting from not just you but from everybody else. I may be wrong but I doubt it, I just feel a different tone these days, like everybody is afraid they might end up dead if they say anything bad. Oh and just for the record Tom if you are reading this disregard everything I just said because I myself just love you and think you are a wonderful actor with a loving wife and beautiful daughter. Your religion makes total sense and if I could afford it I would join.

Scientology is definitely a cult. Theres no doubt about it. Just do a search on Google and you'll probably find tons of documents that have been leaked out of the SeaOrg. Everything from L.Rons methods of dealing with people that are critical of the organization to people who try to leave it to the study of Xenu and the so called forgotten history of the earth. If you dissent, they are instructed to DESTROY you. Not just discredit, but completely and totally personally and professionally destroy you. And then theres the long line of people who have up and DIED after being publicly critical of them.

Dr Drew is retorted. I pray to God everyday because I got problems even if not big. I never was abused but it does not mean that nobody got problems. I think that many people in many faiths are from all sorts of backgrounds and it easily insinuates that mental illness has to play a role in your choice of religion. I think Drew needs to stick to his rehab show instead of trying to get famous by mentioning Tom Cruise and mental illness and cult all together, if he was talking about my momma I would knock Dr Drew's ass out!

Cruise set himself up with his high profile support of the Scientlology cult, but it back-fired on him. That's why he's been in full-on damage control recently with the Oprah stunt depicting him as a normal, family man. When he criticized Brooke Shields and got such a backlash, he was quick to retract what he said about her too. He damaged his own career.
