12 year old Jack Taylor begged Johnny Depp to send him the fedora hat he wore while filming Public Enemies during a chance encounter in Wisconsin. Johnny laughed and told the child, "when I'm done with it."
Jack's parents wrote a letter to the production company as a friendly reminder and a few days later, the hat arrived! It made Jack's YEAR! His mother says,
"It’s not exactly the easiest thing to make all five kids happy, but they did a good job. It’s finally nice to see a celebrity being nice and following through on his promises."
Depp also wrote Jack a short,
personal note telling him to enjoy the hat.
The young boy told TheNorthwestern.com,
"It was pretty awesome when it came. I didn’t think it actually would come."
As usual, Johnny shows how kind and generous he really is.
he is sooooo dreamy
awwwwwww
Awww... LOVE LOVE LOVE him :)
I Love me some Depp. I wish more actors were like him. He is always helping others, but he doesn't call up the press to tell them. He does it cause he cares for the people he is helping, not the fame that comes along with it.

Johnny is a class act. Now THIS is how you should treat your fans, especially the littlest ones. I wish more celebs were like this.

oh that is so sweet just love him nice going johnny you are the best
I have to agree with Jenski. I was going to ask if I was the only one who thought the mother was tacky for sending the letter. I guess I am not.
tacky for sending the letter and tacky for going to the press about it I'm still not entirely sure why people think that celebrities need to go out of their way to be extra nice to people ... I'd settle for them just being polite and not acting like jerks :)

I agree, it was VERY nice of Johnny to send the hat, but I can't believe how entitled these people were acting. Maybe it's not all as rude as it sounds.
he is a major character. I think he is incredibly intersting to talk to and he does not seem boring.
I wish they wouldn't have followed up with a reminder, because im pretty sure he would have sent the hat if he was given the info anyways. Do we REALLY need another reason to love this man? i think not.

I agree I think Johnny Depp is the sweetest, down to earth celeb around! but both this Kid & his Mom sound like they were entitled! like why would that kid ask for it in the first place? they will probably sell it on e-bay!!
