"Well, if you have four bad days in four straight years, then all four of them are depicted in the media, then yeah. The other 360 days of the year, when you’re just handing out lollipops and riding unicorns through cotton-candy forests and everything’s so magical, they don’t report that.
"I’ve (acted) now for a long time and I’ve enjoyed it. But I just feel like there’s other things I want to do. I’m tired. The business has changed."
– Alec Baldwin showing his discontent towards the press andthe stories they choose to cover

And on the 365th day, he rested.
He is right on one point…they do emphasize the supposed nasty and scandalous and downplay the good, unless the good is going to rake in the sales of magazines/shows, like a charity event. Being in the public is tough, even with it’s rewards.
But….he should take responsibility for his own actions, to a degree, as well. He DID leave a nasty message for his daughter, he HAS been obnoxious on many occasions, he CAN be an ass. He can also be an adult and own up to those things, which he HAS done for some. He’s still an awesome talent, for sure, but you can’t wash away all of the other stuff as nonexistent. But, again, he is still right that they do tend to focus only on the sensationalistic…balance would be a good thing.
Peace!
I am dying at this: “when you’re just handing out lollipops and riding unicorns through cotton-candy forests and everything’s so magical, they don’t report that.”
365-4 = 361, not 360. next time stick to 2+2, alec.
brit hands out those special lollipops. i have a feeling that mariah carey rides unicorns. and katie holmes keeps talking about “magical” suri. so i disagree with alec!
I don’t really like him, but I love his character on 30 Rock. I really hope he doesn’t quit that show for awhile!
Y’know girls, there’s an old show biz sayin’, it goes like this: You’re only as good as your worst night.
Baldwin wants to trivialize and diminish his past transgressions? Fine, but the court of public opinion might not be so game.
Ever since the recording of him yelling at his daughter, I can’t stand the man and refuse to watch anything he is in. You just don’t treat a kid like that.
He definitely has a point.
I agree. They rarely cover the happy times, and focus on the most dramatic situations.
He absolutely has a point!
You know it !
I don’t know if “lashing out” is quite the term to describe this. I think he is absolutely right and I don’t blame him. I don’t think he’s lashing out.
ok we all agree he has a point, but if it wasn’t for the juicy gossip no one would buy the magazines or tune in to gossip shows. We don’t come here to read about the good stuff. Everyone likes the gossip and the sensational stories, it sells. It would be very boring if the only stories would be about Britney picking up her mail, people tuned in to read about all her crazyness. Everyone likes to slow down and look at the accidents; is morbid yes, but we all do it.
And he shows his inability to do simple subtraction.
LOL. His quote made me laugh.
he might not be able to subtract (that or doesn’t realize not every year is a leap year?), but have you seen this guy act? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTj47rcuM-4
(a) he’s right, (bee) he rules.
