Jamie Lynn Spears Gives Birth To A Healthy Baby Girl

Congrats! Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth today to a healthy baby girl. She and fiance Casey Aldridge named their little bundle of joy Maddie Briann....how cute!

"Just the family was there," says a source about the birth around 9:30
a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown.
"Everyone is healthy and happy."

So I guess the rumors about her naming the baby Emma Jean were wrong. What do you think of the name Maddie?

The baby's middle name must be in honor of JL's bother Bryan!

It's a really cute name...but I have a pet peeve about nicknames as actual names. William is a name, Billy is a nickname...I wonder if the official name is Madeline? I know, I'm weird! :)

I am just like you. My hubby wanted to name our son Jake (cause he thought it was a strong, manly name ) but I wanted him to have a traditional name he could fall back on, so he is Jacob and when he is older we will call him Jake.

Also I have a cousin named Madeline, and everyone calls her Maddie. I think it is sooo cute :)

Same here. My daughter is named Christina (after my late sister), but we call her Chrissy. I'm old-fashioned and prefer formal names as first names.

Madeleine was always my favorite girl name, with Maddie being the nickname. I don't care for the weird spelling of the middle name.

I like the name. I wonder if she had it normal or c-section? I remember a while back reports were saying that she was quoted saying she was terrified to give birth and wanted to be knocked out and have a c-section.

The timeline of the reports though seem to point to a normal birth. Brit was on a plane yesterday AM and the baby was born today. Good for her if she did it normal, I would be scared too but it is for the better most of the time.

Cute name by the way!

You don't get to be "to be knocked out" for C-section unless it's an emergency...

I have a niece Madelynn she's 10 & my sister hates it when people call her Maddie, but all her firends all call her that. The girls I know with that name include my Mads are very moody and are annoyed easily. Which it easy to make fun of her ;P I'm only 11yrs older then her so it's like tormenting a little sister

It's sweet, but not my style. Neither is getting knocked up at 16, but still. It's nice she's showing some sort of responsibility and had her and will raise her.

I have a Maddy but her full name is Madeline. Maddy is fine for a little girl, but when my Maddy is 50 years old and president of the US (ha ha) she'll need a strong woman's name, not a cute little girl's name.
JamieLynn could have picked a way worse name, so actually I think she did well.

My daughters name is Madison. I named her that 13yrs ago. I used to live in NY and I loved Madison Square G. Shortly after everyone started naming their daughters Madison from the movie "Splash." It was one movie I had yet to see so I had no idea. My child has 10 Maddies in her class. Go figure!

Passerby Passerby said:

OMG, that hilarious. Roll call must be confusing, lol

I think that's a really cute name..I'm glad it was something normal instead of something like "lollipop marie"

Are we sure it's not Maddie Lynn (Madeline)? There has to be a lynn in there somewhere.

Thats a cute name, it's not outlandish like some of these stars name their babies.
I give her 6 months and she is pregs again.

Passerby Passerby said:

I would not wish to be a teenage mother. I would not wish to be born to a teenage mother. I hope she and her baby can beat the (bad) statistics with respect to this situtation.

i hate the name maddie! ya thats so original!
anyways brit is a jerk for going to googoo gaga all over her niece when she has TWO freakin sons she never sees! what a selfish fat sweaty hog

Unique Unique said:

It's too popular. She should have named her something more unique. She's always going to have to be known as Maddie A, since there will probably be 8 other Maddies in every one of her classes.
If Briann was really in honor of her brother Bryan, then that is nice.

Passerby Passerby said:

i really think people need to layoff giving her a hard time for having a baby at 16, if it happened to you or your daughter or sister and people where saying that you wouldnt like it. it just shows how narrow minded people are, yeh its not ideal but it happens and she took responsabilty for it rather than having an abortion.

Passerby Passerby said:

Not narrow minded. Realistic. I wish people would stop glossing over the problems created by teenaged pregnancy.

Passerby Passerby said:

and what exactly are the problems created by teenage pregnancy, because ive never met a teenage mum who was any less of a mum than a 30 year old married woman. there is no right or wrong age to have a baby, its not ideal as a teenager but it happens and i dont think its right to judge something you might not fully understand, just because the mum is a teenager doesnt mean she should have to have an abortion because people like you say that it causes problems.

Passerby Passerby said:

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? TEENAGE PREGNANCY CAUSES LOTS OF PROBLEMS. FOR ONE, TEENS GO ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE, FOR WHICH WE WORKING PEOPLE HAVE TO PAY. SOME TEENS DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEIR KIDS, LEAVING THE CHILD WITH THE GRANDMOTHER OR ABANDONING THE BABY. MANY KIDS BORN TO UNWED TEENS END UP IN FOSTER CARE OR DEAD. YOU MUST BE A TEEN YOURSELF OR VERY YOUNG. YOU ARE A DUMB WHORE, STUP UP AND GO LEARN ABOUT LIFE DUMB BITCH!!

Passerby Passerby said:

Wow cause you sound so mature yourself right there!

Passerby Passerby said:

And, yeah, its better than aborting the child. But it is 2008 and for the most part, pregnancy can be prevented. I don't want to celebrate carelessness, even it the careless person does their best with a less than ideal situation.

Passerby Passerby said:

Let's not celebrate carelessness but celebrate someone taking responsibility. JL probably could have used her age as an excuse and really fallen down in this whole situation, but she hasn't. Also, though teenage pregancy can cause many problems and create insurmoutable statistics, those usually pertain to normal people living without millions of dollars and opportunties at their disposal. I think she'll be just fine! Oh - and I love the name - makes me think of Jon and Kate plus Eight!

Passerby Passerby said:

First off, let's not say "did she have it normal or C-section?" C-sections are not "abnormal." Just say, "did she have a c-section?"

Secondly, the name is normal, and that' s a huge relief. The child is already going to have people talking about her based on who she is. She doesn't need a wild name to add more fuel to the fire.

And it's time to get off Jamie Lynn's back. I admire her for having the baby and trying to do the responsible thing, despite all the negative publicity. A baby is a blessing, no matter how it gets here. Wish her well and let her have some peace.

Passerby Passerby said:

I hope it hurt her really bad..I hope her vagina ripped open and her p*ssy hurt. I hope the doctor had to cut her open so the baby could pass thru. Maybe all the pain will show this little whore not to go around opneing her legs and f*cking at 16. This will teach her to use birth control and not get pregnant.

Passerby Passerby said:

Jamie Lynn gave birth to another white trash whore, just like her, her mother and her crazy white trash whore sister Britney. Another whore born into the family. WELCOME TO THE WORLD WHORE!!

Passerby Passerby said:

Teenage pregnancy is not ideal because most girls do not have the back-up of a family with the financial resources this girl has. Most end up living in poverty and disadvantaged. There is also the tragedy of the girl herself missing out on life experiences her peers will have. As for the child, you just hope this young girl and her young man are up to the responsibility of looking after a demanding baby, night feeds, sleep deprivation and no social life for a while. It is interesting the way some bloggers feel that a 16 year old girl deciding to continue with her pregnancy is the "responsible" thing to do. That's fine if you have money and support. For a lot of girls, the responsible thing to do, and maybe their only option, is abortion. I know I will be howled down by all the right-wing, pro-life extremists, but the fact is that abortion is legalized in just about every western country, so there are a lot of people out there who don't agree with you. You are entitled to your views and live your life accordingly, but don't impose them on others.

Blimey, what kind of people are commenting here? (passerby 7.28 and 7.32). The only birth control that works 100% is abstinence for your information. You don't even know that she didn't use any birth control! Teenage pregnancy is not ideal, but at least she has the father of the baby on her side and she doesn't live in a poor area or has to rely on benefits. She chose to have the baby although she could have easily abort it (yes, there are ways, even though it might not be legal in some states/countries) and then said, oh I had a miscarriage.
Had she had an abortion then I would not judge her either. It's her life, she has to live it, not us.
I wish mummy, daddy and the little girl all the best.
