Vivienne Westwood Calls Fashion From SATC Movie Uninspiring

Wow! I would think since Sex and the City made such a stink about Vivienne Westwood and her wedding dress, the designer would be a bit kinder when asked what she thought about the movie and its fashion.
She held nothing back.
"I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw.
"I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes."

So, in ten minutes she didn't see anything interesting and condemns the whole movie? Something smells rotten in Denmark, that makes zero sense. I mean come on, Carrie's shoes and bag in the opening apartment hunt?

My thoughts exactly.
Cheers to someone who still has an honest opinion! I really respect her for saying what she thinks amidst all the pro-SATC babble and bro-haha. Go Vivienne! Besides, i'm sure she has survived a torrent of negativity and bad reviews in her lifetime (what artist hasn't) so she's earned her right to be blunt!

brutal honesty, there is something to be said for that. Although, it's too bad she didn't stay to see more of what they all were wearing. Then judge it.
can anybody honestly say she can have any sort of any opinion about a movie she clearly didn't see? i think not. get over yourself.
I do not think she is badmouthing this movie. As a designer she feels that fashions represented in this movie were not inspiring/cutting edge for her taste. I actually appreciate the fact, irregardless if I agree with her, that she can state her honest opinion without feeling the need to suck up to them. At least it shows she has an opinion and integrity, something that many people don't nowdays in every industry out of a desire to be ''friends'' with everyone.
Just read here recently how some Australian singer thought not too highly of Madonna as an artist, and everyone predicts he will go nowhere because he dared to say something about her. This is plain wrong. If he is talented he should not get reprimanded for stating his opinions just because Madonna is a heavyweight. Besides she is spent as an artist (use it losely) anyways and could totally use retirement.
I couldn't agree more. She isn't attacking anyone in particular, just making a general statement. And when I read about that australian singer I was delirious with excitement that someone finally spoke up about Madonna being a big fat pain in the rear with no talent and way too much hype.
R-E-G-A-R-D-L-E-S-S!!! There is no such word as "irregardless." And how exactly can she judge the fashions in the movie WITHOUT HAVING SEEN THE MOVIE?
what a B, she sounds like a jealous old bat
didn't she just made her creation a non cutting-edge fashion? Dishing on your own creation is not very inteligent ...Probably she's tired of seeing her dress too much and i don't blame her
That blue bird in SJP's hair... is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. It ruined the WHOLE outfit.
I couoldn't agree more with Vivienne Westwood, it's good she's being honest and great to know she hasn't lost her edge!

Wow she sounds bitter. But her dress was in the movie so she's bad mouthing her own stuff?
passerby @ 9:49...I agree, that blue feather ruined the whole outfit.
Sex and the City was about, well...sex and the city. Cutting-edge fashion was secondary.
I loved the fashion, as for it being cutting edge, I don't know if it was setting new trends or just following the current ones. I mean in the past this was a show that made name necklaces popular, the flower pins and a slew of other stuff. Most of the stuff here was pretty popular already but showcased it quite fabulously in my opinion (I mean booties and the minidresses, we know thats been in for a while). Anyways, so while she may have a point, I think she is also entitled to her opinion, although the opening 10 minutes isn't really enough to base an opinion on.
As for the wedding dress, it was spectacular, but the accessories killed it. They even made fun of the bird in the movie later one, I think it was Samantha that made a comment and they all laughed at the absurdity of it all.
Truthfully, I agree with Vivienne. I saw the entire movie, and I was unimpressed with the fashion, including Vivienne's wedding dress. I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I really mean it.
Most of Vivienne Westwood's designs are too cutting edge, to the point where most women wouldn't seriously wear them. That's fine for the catwalk, but in SATC the fashions had to be attention-getting, but something forty-something women could wear without looking ridiculous. As for the wedding-dress, it absolutely swamped SJP, the bodice was ill-fitting, and has been mentioned above, the bird in the hair ruined the whole effect, because no-one would wear such a thing. That's what I mean about being too cutting edge. Westwood is entitled to her opinion, as are we all, but it would be more valid if she bothered to view the whole film, and not 10 minutes!
I totally agree that this comment makes no sense if she claims she only watched 10 minutes of the movie before leaving unimpressed with the fashion.
Either she is a bit crazy or this quote was fabricated. Not that she isn't entitled to ber opinion - please bring it! Just don't bring it until you've at least seen what you are giving your opinion about!
There is a credibility problem with this statement that you just can't get beyond: by her own admission, SHE DIDN'T SEE THE MOVIE!
bitter much?
Whatever she is such a hag. Always bitching about something. And she didnt even see the movie. SO basically she needs to stfu. And most of her clothes are horrid and scary.

Dear Vivien, the film wasn't meant to be about cutting-edge fashion. Get your facts right before you shout!
