Fall’s Avant Garde Designer Shoes: Hot Or Not?

With fall retail about to hit store shelves, I thought I would share some of the more avant garde designer shoes heading to the shelves with INO readers.

The designs (shown above)from John Galliano, Christian Dior, Stella McCartney, Chloe, Prada, Anna Sui & Alessandro Dell’Acqua, take a 180-degree turn from the ’07 standout creations … this year it’s not about loosing the heel, it’s about adding intricate details to the heels.

I know what I think, but what do YOU think: HOT, NOT … or tone it down & you’ll try them out?

And if you love these looks & price is no option, be sure to bookmark & check back with Browns!Otherwise stay tuned & I’ll be sure to find as many ‘looks for less’ as readers ask for!

Beauty Packing Tips

Planning a trip this summer?Firstly, good for you–you deserve it!!Secondly, if you’re anything like me, packing your beauty routine can sometimes be a real pain!!Here are some tips to help you take your beauty with you without the hassle!!:

  • Streamline your routine with a trim case filled with down-sized staples. I love the compact and affordableMalin + Goetz Essential Travel Kit ($30, pictured above), which has everything you need for your face, hair, and body, in gentle-enough-for-everyone formulas!
  • Let the air out!Air trapped inside can cause containers to leak when air pressure changes. When packing for a plane trip, open the cap of the bottle, give a little squeeze to let the excess air out, and then quickly re-cap.
  • Prevent breakage!Load conatiners inside socks, and then put them in shoes for extra padding.
  • Be extra cautious! To minimize leaks, put a layer of saran wrap between the caps and the openings of your products. Also, when storing self-tanner, double-bag it separately. Most self-tanners stain heavily–even cosmetics bags are not safe!!
  • Remember the3-1-1 Rule! The TSA is pretty stringent onthis:you can carry on one 1-quart clear re-sealable plastic bag filled with liquids or gels in containers of 3 ounces or less.

Newport News: Sheath Dress With A Twist

I know a majority of readers head to SATC for inspiration, but when I’m in need of some serious NYC style I tune in to The Devil Wears Prada (which, oddly enough, HBO has placed on heavy rotation this month).

The outfits in TDWP are fashion-forward without becoming cartoonish, they’re still extremely relevant several years later —a fashion miracle— & I admit to STILL craving boots, bags & coats from the film! But the outfit that takes my breath away is when Andy (Anne Hathaway’s character) walks home in black trousers &a button down white shirt with a tight black short sleeve sweater pulled down around her shoulders. Tres chic!

Sadly, that simple, elegant outfit from Chanelcost a fortune & is hard to convert to an HR approved style … which is why I’m SO psyched about theSweater Dress with Blousefrom Newport News, which gives the same elegant look in a looser, office friendly version! And the best part is the price … $29 (which is a 5 digit savings over the original Chanel pieces worn in the movie)!
