Celine Dion Hits Back Claims Of Massive Water Usage

This was too funny not to post! Celine Dion has hit back after she critised by water authorities in Florida for using up over 6.5 million gallons in her Miami home. Dion's representatives insist her massive water usage was down to a burst pipe. The pipe was reportedly damaged in May 2007 when the previous home on the site was demolished to make way for Dion's new home. She did not realise it had burst until she was landed with massive costs from her local utility provider. Dion's lawyer Michael Weeks says,
"Except for a few new trees that need heavy watering, barely any landscaping was done during that time. Something went wrong.
"Once the underground pipe was located and repaired, water usage subsided back to normal levels. By January 2008, the property was using an amount of water that I would expect to be one of the lowest on Jupiter Island."

I think it's sad that these people have to explain themselves all the time (or have lawyers do it). Nobody monitors how much water their next door neighbor yet they care about what Celine Dion does. Pathetic.
It is more than entirely appropriate that something be said and investigated about millions of gallons of water usage. I know spoiled people like yourself take water for granted and probably don't think twice about wasting several gallons a day, but in a world where fresh water is often absent or a precious commodity this kind of ostentatious waste is reprehensible. If life were left to people like yourself nobody would ever step up and hold anyone responsible for anything. It's ridiculous enough that these celebs live in enormous homes with huge yards that require landscaping and WATER when there is only usually three or four people residing. Moreover, most of these people do not have a home built for energy-savings, so they waste tons of electricity as well...And for what? Just because they can? Talk about carbon footprints. Thank god for people like Leo DiCap, Julia Roberts, Ed Begley, Jr. and even Brad Pitt. These people are concerned about waste and conservation. As for naysayers like you Ellie, you go on with your life without having second thought about the consequences - or the fact your grandkids might be left without fresh water sources because you and others like yourself happily keep their heads deep in the sand. Wake up and get real, girlfriend. Seriously.
The only reason why people are commenting because its such an extraordinarily HUGE amount of water, nobody goes through even close to that much water in her entire neighborhood! We are supposed to be looking at saving the earth, and using that VAST amount of water is doing nothing positive for this world. And its disgusting that if she had pipes go crazy in May it wasn't fixed until January next year! Um, call me crazy, but I get a energy bill every month. Just because she's rich doesn't mean she can destroy the world for those of us that are not rich. Maybe you should start reading into environment, if everybody were to treat the world like this it would be in an even worse start then it is now, and if you don't know anything about it try researching global warming.

Gotta agree with comments 2, 3, and 4. It wasn't even her primary residence, because she was in Vegas so much. WTF?
Also, that skirt is dangerously short for photogs being on the floor in front of the stage. Eeep.
Agreed, Meaghan. If she really wasn't using that amount of water, one of her house managers or accountants would have noticed something was awry and should have corrected the problem when it started. So her excuse is basically that she (or her people) knew something was wrong and didn't care enough to fix it until it become a source of public ridicule. Or perhaps that she is just so busy and rich, she just couldn't be bothered with the responsibilities of house ownership. In that case, she should stick to renting and hotels.
