Joel Madden And Nicole Richie - No Plans To Marry
They're happy. They're really happy right now. So Nicole Richie and Joel Madden don't want to change that. They must have saw SATC. :) When asked if wedding bells were in Joel's future, the musician said there were no immediate plans.
"We don't have any plans for that right now," Madden told PEOPLE on Wednesday. "We're just happy, and we're being a family, and that's where we're at right now. But marriage means something different to everyone."
"Right now we're really happy," the Good Charlotte frontman says, "and we're concentrating on our family, and that's what is making us happy right now. We're moving at our own pace."

Ok, I am now placing my bet Paris and Benji to get married first.
Thanks Vera, now you spoiled the SATC movie for those who have not had the time or luxary to see it yet!

learn to spell....
how is this a spoiler for the SATC movie? this doesn't tell me ANYTHING abotu the plot, except for there is something about marriage or non-marriage.
anyway, I respect the decision not to get married. the piece of paper doesn't really mean much to some people. Personally, I have a common law marriage with my husband because we decided it wasn't important to us to have a ceremony and get this piece of paper declaring our love to each other.

You just proved yourself wrong with the phrase "I respect the decision not to get married". AKA CARRIE AND BIG DONT GET MARRIED!!! It's the WORST SPOILER I've ever seen!
i don't see how that comment proves anything about carrie and big getting married or not... the poster simply just stated that "they respect the decision not to get married" i.e. it may be a good idea that joel and nicole are taking things the way they are and they respect that.
anyway if anyone gave away the worst spoiler, it would be you for saying it out point blank.
i´m sure you must have meant "they must have seen" instead of "they must have saw"... oops!
Boy Vera...your posters really like to correct your grammar, don't they?Shame on them!
Don't you mean "Boy, Vera" lol jk
No, shame on people who can't figure out correct grammar. Please quit encouraging the "dumbing down of America".
On the note of not getting married, that is fine. When celebrities do the right thing by their children, it's a nice surprise. This is expected.
I always feel it sets such a bad example for your children when you live together out of wedlock. Just saying...
Actually, I think the opposite. Why marry someone and then get divorced because you find out stuff you really can't deal with when you move in together? You don't know what you're spouse will be like when you're with them 24/7. You don't know how they will handle the arguments, because you've never really had a real argument until you've moved in with a person. Besides, marriage is just a paper..I could see how it'd be important if you needed the tax brakes, etc. but they're rich! Think of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell...

I couldn't agree more. So many people get married and it changes everything. I couldn't be more happier right now. I'm common-law with my spouse and we love it!
AW VERA!! you just ruined the movie for me! I haven't seen it yet :( bah!
no point in these two getting married, it will make seperating easier if they don't have to go through a divorce to do it
don't do it man...stay happy...not married
OH MY GOD I am supposed to see Sex and The City tomorrow and you just RUINED IT! How could you do that!!!!! How could YOU DO THAT??? THAT is like the worst thing you could ever possibly DO to a girlfriend, (well, besides serious things!) but really, HONESTLY, that was outright, absolutely, downright awful of you to not consider your fans.
Spoiling Sex and the City movie that took how many years to come out and now I know Big and Carrie don't get married because they don't want to change anything???!!!! WHAT THE %^$*! How cruel!!!!! How insufferably inconsiderate!
That's it! I'm out of here! Seriously, seriously, not cool. A deal breaker with your site. At least until a few days from now when I've managed to calm down, (gasp!) I was supposed to see it tomorrow!!!!!! Ruined SATC the day before I see it after all this time!!
Harsh. Edit it lady. I'm not kidding. Tsk tsk TSK you should simply KNOW BETTER. I thought you were a girl's girl!

good thing they don't get married because they're not going to last anyway.
The are being smart about this. Remember they got pregnant about 3 months after they started dating, then their focus shifted to the baby. They probably are just now getting back to dating!
Yes, they set a fantastic example to young people. Have the baby first, THEN get to know eachother. Doesn't sound very smart to me. For most young couples it means disaster. These two have the money to buy the help to give them time out from caring for the baby and to enjoy eachother's company. For most young couples this is not the case. It's 24/7, 7 days a week hands on care for the baby. If you don't know eachother well enough to make a commitment, even though you have a baby, the chances of staying together look pretty dim. Being smart is using contraception.
shoulda would coulda. they either didn't use contraception, or it failed. they went through with the pregnancy, the baby is here, and they seem to be hands-on, stable parents so far - which will be far more valuable than whether they are married or not. hiring someone to else to look after the baby (which they said they didn't intend to do) so they can focus on their relationship is a strange solution IMO. also looking to "celebs" to be examples for young people is overrated and often an excuse to take the responsibility off parents in being role models for their own children, or exposing them to other positive influences. i agree that the chances of their relationship surviving are slim but at this point i don't think anything will change that, including getting married. but i will say that stranger things have happened so you never know.
The number of young, single mothers, particularly amongst the disadvantaged, is an indication that when an unplanned pregnancy occurs, and there is no commitment between the parents, more than likely the guy leaves the situation. Even amongst those who try to "make it work", the relationship usually dissolves. Young people need positive role models from many sources. It makes sense that before a child is brought into the equation, a couple should have a long-term commitment to eachother (which does not necessarily mean marriage). That means being educated about using effective contraception, while finding out about eachother. Un-planned pregnancies have and always will occur, but working towards reducing them is the way to go. Uneducated, young and alone with a baby is not a good place to be for mother or child. The majority do not live in LaLa Land like Ms Richie. She is a role model for what not to do, with it being pointed out clearly that she is only doing as well as she is in her situation because of her money.
Passerby at 11:19...are you serious?!!!
