Update On Angelina Jolie
Yesterday I reported that Angelina Jolie had checked in at a French hospital where she would remain until giving birth to her twins. Today there are a few more details coming up, but still no confirmation as to whether the babies have been born or not. Fortunately we should get more news this afternoon because her obstetrician has called a press conference.
In other news, here are a few tidbits about Angelina's stay at the hospital.
Jolie has the best room in the hospital, on the fifth floor, with an "unobstructed view" over the Bay of Angels. It said she arrived by helicopter, landing Sunday afternoon
on the hospital's roof....The actress reserved four
rooms on the maternity ward, with a bodyguard keeping watch.
Wow, arriving in helicopter, looking out over a beautiful bay, bodyguard protection...sounds just like my birthing experience...NOT. :)
*Update: Nothing exciting happened in the press conference. Doc just said that things are normal and Angelina is in the hospital as a precaution.
*Update #2: The twins are still weeks away. Makes sense since we did originally here her due date was in August.

Give me a BREAK. Vera makes about one-MILLIONth the amount of grammatical errors that, say, Perez Hilton makes. I'm an English major and I'm planning on becoming an English teacher. I'm more anal than most people about the written word, and I think Vera's a great writer. So suck it.

I think that the reason they held a freaking press conference isn't out of egotism; it's because there are MANY people on this planet who are interested in this couple -- journalists and non-journalists alike, and they'd probably just like to address the "issues" all at once so they can get this birth over and done with. You should really pay more attention to something that matters. I'm not pacing, either, but I can acknowledge their reasons for wanting to quell the recent buzz of curiosity. They want privacy -- just like you, and just like me. And it's not their fault they happen to be famous. They're dealing with a biological life process that's absoLUTEly none of our business, and it's sad that they have to worry about that experience being marred by the press.
Then why are you feeding the frenzy by getting on this site? If it bothers you so much, why are you peering into their lives like everyone else? A bit hypocritical, no?

And I happen to think that Brad and Angelina are two talented, highly-attractive people with a gorgeous family and an undeniably enviable life. Whatever. I'm more interested, though, in my cats, or what sort of car trouble I might have, or what I'm going to have for dinner tonight. Have you heard of a maternity ward? There's not people desperately needing those other beds/rooms, especially at the price she's paying for them. In France, you reserve your maternity space months before the birth (yes, I do know, I gave birth there) so no one is suffering because of Angelina taking four rooms. At least be educated before you open your mouth up against someone.

Angelina has never said what her due date is. Dustin Hoffman threw that date out but nobody knows he was serious or joking. Multiply births are usually born several weeks before the due date, even 4-6 weeks early. If Angelina does go into labor now that doesn't automatically mean the children will have problems. I don't know why people are going psycho over the reserved rooms. Every celebrity mom reserves extra rooms so that: 1. the general public won't have access to the celebrity to take pictures or something 2. for family members. I didn't hear this kind of anger when Jennifer Lopes or Halle Berry reserved rooms when they gave birth. Considering this is a private hospital at $500 a night, pregnant women are not lining up to be admitted or being turned away. Also it was the hospital who had the press not Angelina. I'm sure the hospital has been getting thousands of calls and thought it was easier to release some info with Angelina's approval. People really need to get a grip.

Oh God. Well, you know, I DO believe that, but I would also imagine that Brad and Angelina chosen a smaller, more provincial hospital if only to escape public curiousity. I do wonder about the demand on the maternity ward, but four rooms just doesn't seem like THAT much. JL gave birth in Long Island, right? And didn't she reserve an entire, like, FLOOR or something? I'm sure that Angelina has some awful qualities, but she doesn't strike me as being half so high-maintenance. I mean, would you expect anything else from mink-eyelash wearing J-Lo? I'm sure she demanded crystal shears to cut the umbilical cords.

I can only imagine the frenzy that this hospital is dealing with. Although, I'm sure they knew it was coming once she reserved her maternity space. :) I hope she delivers healthy babies in a nice, calm setting. The paparazzi's aggression just freaks me out.

The whole Jolie-Pitt media circus has degenerated into a media frenzy. They are as much a part of what is going on in France as the paparazzi. The driving force for both parties is the money to be made out of the birth of these innocent children. In the preceding weeks she has been giving many interviews to magazines about her family life, even to the point of commenting on her sex life. This is from a woman who claims to value her family's privacy. They rent one of the most ostentatious houses in one of the most expensive areas of real estate in the world, which requires an army of security men, helicopters, etc. The amount of money it would take to maintain such a lifestyle must be astronomical. Meanwhile the rest of us are meant to heed her previous messages, simplify our lives, give to the poor and be environmentally aware. This is why discussion of Ms Jolie generates the sort of animosity we are seeing in this blog. For all her well-publicized good works, the way she actually lives is so excessive that one has to question her credibility. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not another patient in that hospital giving birth. All the carry on surrounding Ms Jolie would ruin the experience not only for other women, but their family and friends coming to visit them.
