Helen Mirren Shops Second Hand

Helen Mirren Shops Second Hand

"I love second-hand shops. Or I make my own clothes because I’ve never found the kinds of things I liked."

-- Helen Mirren

I know so many people that have great luck in second hand stores. Have you ever purchased a great find?

A Christian Dior button-down tunic with delicate open-work detailing in the front and 3/4-length sleeves. Very feminine -- even poetic. Cost? 25 cents.
Found it a thrift store.

i buy alot of clothes on ebay. just got a $1000 suit for $100. Two skirts - one retailing for $198, and the other for $258 - for $14.99 and $4.99 respectively. Tons of cashmere sweaters under $20. Love it.

I do shop second hand occasionally and you can find some wonderful deals. However I saw Helen Mirren do an interview, I think it was with Barbara Walter, I could be wrong. Anyway and she stated that she never wore pants or shorts, ever. That was part of her up bringing and she felt that pants look horrible on women. So I thought that was a cool thing about her. Then I see this photo and I am disappointed. She lied and whose to say she could be lying about the whole second hand store thing too.

Disappointed: aren't people allowed to change her mind? Maybe she never used to wear pants but now does because she feels comfortable in them? I buy more clothes in Charity shops (second hand shops) than new clothes in a store. I like wearing vintage clothes. I also shop on ebay. I found some amazing designer vintage clothes in a charity shop in London for bargain prices.

YES! Just on Tuesday I bought a brand new swimsuit that even had the pantyliner sticker still in it for $6. As opposed to $40-$60. T-shirts. Tennis shoes. Dresses are kinda hard to find, they can be reaaaally out of style and Jamie Sullivan from Walk to Remember. But PLEASE check them out, it ticks me off to see a $30 pricetag on a tank top. Ridiculous!

Wherever she buys her clothes she looks great in these pix. She demonstrates perfectly that style has nothing to do with age.

I rarely shop anywhere but second-hand these days. And to Disappointed... we all have the right to change our mind as the circumstances change :)
