PETA Offers Sharon Stone A Free Brain Scan

It's always shock value with PETA isn't it? I understand the group wants to get some press time to help their cause, but isn't there another way? The animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are offering Sharon Stone a free brain scan... in an effort to improve her compassion.
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk has written to the movie star, suggesting her refusal to stop wearing fur and recent ill-advised comments she made about the Chinese earthquake could be symptoms of an underdeveloped brain.
In her letter, Newkirk writes,
"Given that millions of people… were killed, injured, and left homeless by the recent earthquake in China, everyone was shocked to hear you dismiss the devastating effects of this disaster. However, your cavalier attitude did not come as a surprise to us. We are used to the indifference that you flaunt and the callous remarks that you make about the suffering and death of the animals whose fur you wear so often.
"Scientific studies suggest that the prefrontal regions of the brains of people who lack empathy might be underdeveloped. Here’s our offer: Would you allow PETA to pay for a scan of the prefrontal region of your brain to determine if comments and actions that seem to demonstrate a lack of empathy are the result of a physical defect?"
In case you forgot, Sharon suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2001 but has since fought her way back to health.

Ingrid is the one that needs compassion.
She was once quoted as saying that she would get to work early and kill animals with her own hands. PETA KILLS. they really could care a less about animals. all they want is their name in the paper. people should support organizations that truly help animals. ASPCA, HUMANE SOCIETY, ETC.
WOW, PETA sure is troubled...I think I'll have a double cheeseburger and fries for lunch today, in the name of PETA.
ha ha good one
Not a fan of Sharon, but that's just plain viscious to use her previous illness in that way. Like PETA really cares about helping her, give me a break....................It's sad that something noble (helping animals) is being run by sickos like this, instead of helping the cause, they drive people away with their over-the-top tactics.
Amazing that these nutballs at PETA claim to care so much about animals, but treat human beings so inhumanely. Sharon, like all of us, has the right to wear fur, eat meat, and do whatever else she wants to do as long as it doesn't violate any laws in this country. I boycott all projects from any actress who has ever sided with PETA (although most of them are such bimbos that they don't have any worthwhile movies, etc., anyway). People can torture an animal and everyone cries and gets all worked up and calls news conferences. But someone can kill a baby for crying too much, and you just keep channel surfing...no big deal.

I love animals tremendously, but I can assure you that the death of a child has an equal emotional effect on me. It's that whole abuse of the most vulnerable members of society that I find really troublesome. I just think that we have this moral responsibility to take care of creatures who need us (whether they're housecats or babies) if we can. Wearing fur indicates that you're greedy and lack compassion. There are synthetic versions available for far cheaper, and no one has to be ANALLY ELECTROCUTED or SKINNED ALIVE in the process. Period.

Whatever. I agree that PETA uses extremist tactics, but fur is absolutely evil, and if they don't call this crazy ho out for wearing it, who will? I think the letter's funny. Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for Sharon one bit. I actually wish her coats would come alive and maul her to death. She deserves it. I HATE people who promote animal abuse, and when you flagrantly wear fur, that's EXACTLY what you're doing.

I agree with you 100%. They [PETA] can be a bit cuckoo, but I'm a member and a vegan. I can understand if you're not willing to give up meat or dairy, but wearing fur is just disgusting. First off, how is it even appealing? Wearing the skin of an animal...I guess I never got it. I don't even think it looks good (not even faux fur). With her millions of dollars, I'm sure she can afford a very nice synthetic coat. I don't pity Ms. Stone in the least.

Thanks. It's nice to know that other people aren't flippant about animal welfare! I've gotta tell you that I admire vegans SO MUCH. I'm a vegetarian, personally, but veganism is a whole other level of discipline! It was incredibly easy for me to give up meat, but cheese...oh, man. I don't know if I could ever give up cheese.
I'm also a vegan and a hater of PETA. They give us a bad name, and this is just ridiculous and hurtful. Insulting people is not how you get them to pay attention to your cause.
By the way, I thought I could never give up cheese, but I only was really tempted for like a week. I'm totally over cheese now, and I really think you should go for it. Don't let dairy hold you back!
"It's nice to know that other people aren't flippant about animal welfare!" What about people who are flippant about human suffering? Your comment about wanting SS to be mauled was uncalled for. We should respect all living creatures, not just animals.

I still mean it. And I don't respect Sharon Stone, and I really don't see why she should be afforded my respect in the first place, given the fact that she's only famous because she flashed her vadge in a glorified soft-core porn.
hope her fur comes alive and eats her -- lol. good one Ernestine.
I'm not a peta member, but sharon has wore fur coat after fur coat. thousands of dead animals for her crazy ass to walk down a red carpet in warm LA.
Someone should take a strong stance against her kind-- if not just to save the next herd of animals going to the electric chair for shit's sake.
Oh my god I almost threw up all over my fur coat reading that - what a bunch of jerks!!!!
That's just downright cruel. Shame on PETA!!!!

Bunch of as*holes. That is all they are. What a cheap shot at someone who suffered a brain injury. Insensitive... this is beyond pathetic.
Apparently they don't like humans.
yeah...and they are humans..therefore they don't like themselvs so we have a reasom for all those PETA outfits

Hmm Im not sure I ever knew she had something happen to her brain !

I understand that PETA is all about being passionate but their tactics turn me off. I don't wear fur because I don't see the point. However, fanaticism - even in the name of a good cause- always rubs me the wrong way. I just tune them out.
Ernestine, people like YOU deserve to be "anally electrocuted," as another poster said about fur-bearing animals, for thinking that it is in any way okay to harrass, threaten, or annoy another human being who is not violating any laws. Human beings are above animals, whether you like it or not, and we have the right to eat and/or wear them if that is what we choose to do. If you choose not to, fine. But you don't have any right whatsoever to say that you wish a fur would come alive and eat Sharon Stone...or that it's okay to make fun of someone who had a life-threatening brain surgery. You and all the nutballs at PETA are the ones who need brain surgery. Pull your head out of your a** and grow up.

No, see, I DO have the right to say that. First Amendment! And you have the right to be a complete asshole. It's a great country. Happy Independence Day!
God Bless America
GO PETA !
I Love it.
Animals are innocent, Humans aren't.
PETA has some very good videos that changed my way of living (I went Vegan after seeing them- but it took a while)
If you realy want to eat meat, at least watch this first so you know what You are eating
http://www.meat.org/
And anyone who wears fur is just asking to get blasted, so blast away at sharon stne, she deserves it...no class
300 points
Agreed! Thanks for having a heart!
Oh please, will you READ what you're saying??!! Completely talking out of your ass, and making no sense!! You say we have rights above animals, we do but we SHOULDNT, and then, my personal favourite:
"But you don't have any right whatsoever to say that you wish a fur would come alive ..."
Tsk tsk tsk... VERY poor choice of words. Umm, yes, they clearly do!! Right to free speech if i recall! Wearing fur is NOT something that we should have the right to do, as it does not benefit us in any way and in the process kills animals. YOU need the brain scan if you think that sounds acceptable, and i think YOU should be locked up for it. God help any animals that should cross your path. "Humans are above animals." YOU'RE PATHETIC!
And by the way, PETA may be extremists, but at least they're doing SOMETHING, even if all they are doing is raising attention to the issues of animal cruelty and abuse.
I'd offer everything for PETA to get lost.
PETA always take it too far. I think wearing fur is completely and utterly disgusting and really have no respect for Sharon Stone as she chooses to wear it, but to send that type of message is just inappropriate, insensitive and pretty much harassment; ESPECIALLY as Sharon Stone suffered in 2001. PETA is a joke, they're just so crude.
SHARON STONE HAS A BRAIN? I'M CONFUSED!
Sharon Stone is vile however, PETA members should have their brains scanned because they are the ones that are off the chain.
PETA are a pack of bitches...bitches that need to be put down...bitches that need to be put down by the bare hands of Chief Bitch Ingrid. What a pack of losers to write such vicious things about a person. So "caring" are they? CRAP!

Geeze. PETA really only appeals to bitchy teenage girls anyway.
PETA uses offensive tactics to get its name in the paper (or the internet as the case may be), but soon enough this will backfire and PETA will be a "cause" that is too embarassing for celebs or (so-called) 'important' people to publicly back or defend.
Coming so soon after Pamela Anderson's stupid remark about Jessica Simpson, this group should be spiriling into irrelevance sooner than later.
I am always amazed that those who defend animals so passionately seem to have little or no empathy with people. I remember reading about a celebrity (I THINK Alec Baldwin, but I honestly can't recall, it was a few years ago) who was on his way to some big $2000.00 a-plate dinner to fund raise for animal rights--and his limo drives past all these homeless guys on the sidewalk on the way to the dinner and the celeb doesn't even bat an eye...not so much as a "gee, isn't that a shame". (the reporter was in the car with him)
Typical.
Guess homeless people aren't "cute" or "innocent" enough to be passionate over, huh?

PETA are, no doubt, a bunch a knobs! They give all of us animal advocates and vegetarians a bad name. Ugh. Makes me want to throw up my tempeh sandwich.
she's a big crazy loser in so many ways. China rightfully agrees.
People, like S.Stone, who needlessly kill animals for accessories can drop dead like their furs.
I would have more respect for PETA if PETA had more respect for people.
Do we all know 100% that Sharon's fur is real and not faux? Just asking, I don't see her up close, so can't say. Anyway, I'm against torturing animals, too, as any normal person should be. But I also know it can be a hypocritical view.......are all of you shunning ALL leather products, too? And other animal by-products?

I certainly am an animal rights person. But PETA, to me, is a joke. The crazy, immature things they say and do just to "shock" for publicity is ridiculous and make them look like irrational morons.
300 points
LOL...some people need to get a life.....and PETA is totally wrong...shame on them.
PETA is so irrelevant. They're never going to convince people to not wear fur or to be vegan or anything else. People do what they want to do. Why not get behind a meaningful cause....something that affects HUMAN BEINGS? I am a lot more concerned about abused children than I am worried about abused minks. Oh, and Ernestine dear...I totally agree with the other poster who thinks anal electrocution might actually shock some sense into a self-righteous prig like you.
300 points
They actually convinced me to go vegetarian when I was eleven. So, I guess they kinda do SOME good. Oh, and go f**k yourself. XOXO!
300 points
By the way, I would SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOO love to know which causes you've gotten behind -- ones that don't involve shopping and sleeping, I mean.
I agree. PETA only appeals to people who are easily influenced and can't think on their own. The research is out there, I don't need a group of wackos telling me how to live my life. And yes I'm vegan and proud of it. But this is America and people can do what they want. PETA should put more energy into educating others and changing policies and lees into these shameless attacks on individuals to garner what they think is publicity.
300 points
I'm a vegetarian, but Ingrid makes me ashamed of it sometimes. She is an idiot.
While I do agree that Sharon Stone is a vile creature, and that her indifference to the death and misery of thousands is diplorable. PETA is simply stooping to her level with personal insults. I really dont need PETA to tell me that Sharon Stone is a witch!

I think the PETA people missed a day at PostModern Sensationalism School. They failed to read the chapter on the difference between Situationism and Being an Assho**.
How does anyone know that Sharon's coats are made from real fur?
How does Sharon Stone wearing fur have anything to do with you? Live and let live. And get a life.
The people who run PETA sound like they are awfully immature.
your clearly have posted this to get a reaction against peta. puuuleaze.
peta is an organization that attempts to advocate for animals. of course, those who might eat, wear, or not care about how all animals live and suffer, is very quick to critize peta. i say good for them. the planet would indeed be a better place if we all shared some compassion for all and everything.
Yes, Peta may be extreme in their tactics, but I can fully understand why.
Because, if you have ever bothered to see exactly how fur is obtained, you would never wear fur in a million years. Please keep in mind that most of the fur in the West comes from China where there are no animal welfare laws. The fur trade in China is gaining ground and there is no way it will stop if we continue to wear/buy fur.
See for yourself how dogs/cats/raccoons/foxes etc. get skinned alive for the fur trade but beware, it is very upsetting - and this is just one example of the barbarism of the fur trade.

On top of this the Chinese market the fur of dogs and cats as 'faux fur/rabbit/ other fur' or other made-up names. They know that Westerners will never buy dog fur! Dog and cat fur is easy to dye in different colours, so many people don't even realise that the coat they're wearing is actually dog/fur.
