Mariah strikes me as VERY self-centered and controlling. Can't imagine marriage to her being that great, money isn't everything.
Wow the comments above me seems pretty rude, just because you see someone in your computer and tv doesn't mean you actually know them. You don't know how they are with each other, maybe she is actually a caring person towards him and I am sure they love each other. I would never judge a person just by what I see on tv or read on the computer, and you guys should probably do so also.
i completely agree with you. ppl think just because they see a star in a magazine or read garbage about them in the tabloids that means they actually know them. in reality, we don't know anything but what they put in front of us. nobody knows what these celebrities are like in their everyday life. what ppl also fail to realize is the ppl that write those articles have never met half the celebrities they talk trash about. their just like us: looking from the outside in.
While it is true that we can't get an accurate image of a person from their portrayal in magazines, I think we can make a pretty good guess. I actually think stars have a lot of control over their public image. Rags may embellish what they do but what they make up have to be plausible based on the person's public demeanor. If you yourself don't generate any fodder for the rags, they'll leave you alone for the most part. Mariah has always portrayed herself as a materialistic and rather childish person. I remember she showed off her house once in one of those MTV/VH1 shows and she showed off her overstuffed rooms of pink hello kitty stuff, clothes and shoes with giggly delight. If you were a thoughtful, intelligent person, you would probably project more thoughtfulness and intelligence than this.
I just want to say that "giggly delight" is an awesome term. Anyone who thinks Mariah Carey is neither immature or self-centered needs to come out from underneath whatever rock they've been living under for the past 15 years. She said herself she's still a 12 year old inside.
please explain to me how i am not a thoughtful and unintelligent person because i said don't judge her by a bunch of bullshit you read in magazines. all i said was it's hard to believe the crap they put out because majority of it they pull straight out of their ass--with their "a source says" or "a friend close to the stars". btw,stars have control over their image? really? because who would have thought jennifer aniston would want to be portrayed as a lonely, clingy, desperate woman that's still in love with her ex. the media makes you believe what they want you to believe and they will never stop as long as there are ppl out there that believes every word they write. so, maybe if you was a more thoughtful and intelligent person you wouldn't make such ignorant comments.
I didn't mean to say that you were not a thoughtful and intelligent person. I meant to say that if Mariah were a thoughtful and intelligent person, that would shine through in her public persona. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Jennifer Aniston may not want to be portrayed as a needy woman but her constant ooohing and ahhing about how great a lover John Mayer reeks of desperation. People generally make up rumors that are plausible based on the behavior of the celebrities themselves. Jennifer can certainly control her behavior and be more discreet about her relationships and sex life. And therefore, I believe she certainly has a lot of control over her public perception. Of course I don't think you should believe rumors you read in magazines but I do think you can have an opinion of a celebrity's personality based on their interviews and public behavior without being a hatemonger.
i feel what you are saying about forming an opinion about someone based on their interviews. but, this again goes along with what i was saying. jennifer NEVER made any comments about how good john is in bed. the article that came up with this crap didn't have a quote from her. they used the o so original "a source close to the star." just go back and read it. they didn't even bother saying it was a direct quote from her. they have painted this image of her just like they do with a lot of stars. just to trying to clarify. not looking for an argument.
My bad. They were talking about it on the radio when I was driving home and they just said that she had said it. You're right that there is a lot of irresponsible reporting.
why do you read gossip pages then? if you are not trying to know who these people are, you wouldn't read this stuff. they are not just like us -- they are people are very rich, very talented (some), and very much in the public eye. that isn't just like me. we are all judgemental, face it. doesn't mean it's a bad thing. doesn't mean it's good. it just is what it is. back to lurking and judging celebrities...
