Steve-O Is In A Mental Hospital

Poor guy. He's really trying to get his life together, but Steve-O just can't catch a break. Even though he's now been sober for a significant amount of time, the TV personality has now been hospitalized because of his mental health problems.  Steve-O writes:

"I've now been clean for 115 days, and I'm, again, in a mental institution. I did so much cocaine, ketamine, pcp, nitrous oxide, and
all sorts of other drugs, that, quite simply, my brain is f----d up.

He adds that though his "cognitive skills are alright ... I frequently suffer from horrible mood swings and severe depression."

...medication that is prescribed to me doesn't do the trick every day.
I'm back in the looney bin trying to get that s---t right.

The bottom line is that doing drugs f----d my a-- up, and I'm going
to be paying for it for a long time, probably for the rest of my life. Everyone's going to make their own decisions in life, but
nobody needs to make the same mistakes I made."

I'm glad that he's speaking out about his struggle. Hopefully he'll be able to help prevent other people from heading down the same path.

How old is this idiot? He's just finding out now that drugs can mess his head up? If he's screwed up the rest of his life I have no sympathy for him.

Many people have vices that negatively effect them. (smoking, drinking, eating too much, unprotected casual sex, gambling, lying, etc) I think it's very pompous for someone to say that he deserves it or that his situation is an unsympathetic one. If we could peer into the lives of others on here, I'm sure we would all find a skeleton or two. It's fortunate that some vices are more easily hidden. (it makes it easier to cast stones)

How can you compare lying, overeating, drinking with hard core, illegal drugs? They are not all equal.

who's to say they're not equal.
something being illegal doesn't mean anything
are you saying if someone goes twenty above the speed limit on the highway they should be f-cked for the rest of their life.
he was probably experimenting and got in to deep
douchebag.
think for a f-cking minute

Good luck to him... I hope he can conquer his demons - or at least learn how to deal with them in a healthy, productive way.

This does seem like an old quote. He needs to focus on recovery and stop seeking media attention.

I think it's great that he is making his struggle so public because all of the out of control teenagers that idolize him can see that it's not all fun and games when it comes to drug use. I'm happy that he was able to find it in himself to get help, most recovering addicts are not that strong.

He admitted to everything after so many years of stupid crap that he did. That's something at least. I never liked him because of the stupid things that he did, but I hope he recovers to some extent at least.

I've got a standing "O" for Steve-O. He knows he's a role model and he's doing the right thing by letting his fans know his mistakes. I wish him well.

passerby at 6:42 - as a worker in the mental health field - all of the conditions I listed are forms of addiction. All of them can destroy a person's ability to function within society. All cause severe, debilitating depression. They ALL destroy families, social relationships, the person's physical health, mental health, careers, etc. If you're speaking in legal terms, illegal drugs are the exception - but in terms of personal negativity, they can be on par with all of the other forms of addiction. Sure, an outsider can see a drug addict and say "that's illegal - that's bad," and then look at a habitual liar and not see the similarity, but when you realize that lying has robbed that person of the ability to form long lasting, meaningful relationships - it's essentially doing the same thing drugs are doing to the substance abuser. True, drugs are physically destroying the addict, but the stress and anxiety of the habitual liar is causing physical damage as well. (and yes, in many cases, severe physical damage)
