Salma Hayek's Engagement Is Called Off

So much for that $3.5 million wedding rumor. Salma Hayek's rep has announced that her engagement to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault is off.
"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled. There will be no further comment."Â
oh ohs! oh well, salma is rich on her own, but she'll always have her little girl which he will support, at least financially.
Rich celebrities think they can do whatever they want, well, they can.
I always thought their relationship was a sham. I don't think they ever had intention of getting married. I think salma wanted a baby before she got too old and didn't want to look like a **** so when she announced her pregnancy she also announced an "engagement" for appearance sake. Then when the baby was a reasonable age they would "break up". I think Salma probably has some traditional values and does not want to tarnish her reputation. I just never felt this relationship and have been waiting for this to happen for a while now.

I unfortunately agree with Amy. My opinion on that was really cemented when she gave an interview right around her birth. She stated she had no intention of moving to France and he had no intention of moving to LA, where she was living. That they had very separate lives and they saw each other occasionally and that it just "worked for them". Just the whole way everything has been worded with it for both of them made it seem that, as a couple, they were basically inconsequential.
This is really bad news...
At least they spared us the drama.
She can do a hell of a lot better than that skinny-ass peepaw, in my humble opinion.
I agree with Amy's post. They always looked uncomfortable with each other and not like a "real couple." They rarely even saw each other.
I think gran-pa Francois done got caught cheating! Can't wait to her all about it.
I'm not surprised in the least. I figured Salma would find a way to get out of it sooner or later.
Well, at least, it will stop the rumors that she were to marry him for his money.. Am I glad, people will knock it off (already) with this kind of speculations.. Whether she had a kid w/ a French billionaire to get child support? When you have a career like Salma Hayek spanning over 20 years, your own production company, directing chops, several films / TV projects currently under her "directing" and "producing" belts (for which she received numerous awards/accolades both nationally and internationally), undeniable acting talent, breath-taking beauty, serious wealth and incredible personality (it takes some serious personality / independence to become the first Hispanic star in Hollywood 20 years ago, with big curves, a heavy Mexican accent, a body no taller than 5'2 and soap-opera credentials.. ), I really (REALLY) doubt that Salma is the kind of woman, who needs a French billionaire to take care of her (and new born baby) . I also doubt that her ambitions in life -now that she has turned 40 - are to just sit there, spend duckets in francy (YSL??) gowns and perceive .. child alimony. People are just .. Pathetic. Most idiots commenting on blogs have no idea what it takes to be successful in Hollywood. Marrying a billionaire is NOT what it takes. Nor perceiving child alimony. Especially not at 40. Lol. All the rest is (worthless) literature..
Hey, I agree. I think Salma is a total badass. She won me over after Frida, and she always comes across as frighteningly intelligent in every interview I've ever read. She really is a Latina trailblazer and an AWESOME actress, and does NOT need to marry some dude for his cash, THANK you very much!
Yeah,Salma has money BUT money is a huge priority for her.Rich people always want more money and Salma isn't immensely rich she had a child with him because she wanted more money.

I pretty much figured, these two had zero chemistry at all. They didnt look comfortable together at all, and he wasnt even around when she had the baby. Me thinks Salma was artificially inseminated and needed someone to stand in as a daddy to keep up appearances. Oh well, sure could be worse.

That's why you should get married first, then have kids. If you decide not to get married....clean break....no kids.
I see your point but you can still split up even if you're married with kids.
As long as they come up with a proper and loving arangement for their little girl, than their motives for getting together or breaking up are moot. Yeah, they have tons of money, we all know that. It doesnt mean that they can't fall in and out of love just like all the rest of us.
I also believe that Francois was caught cheating. At least Salma now has a beautiful little girl. The money is not an issue with her. Salma was born into money and is a successful business woman in her own right. YOU GO GIRL!
