Over at the Los Angeles Times they seem to think that Angelina Jolie would make the best next Catwoman. But, the papers' readers seem to disagree. Even though she's starred in a ton of action films, they don't want her taking part in the franchise.

Well, if HALLE BERRY couldn't do it, WHY COULD ANGELINA do it?!?! I thought that this franchise had gravitas now, and they want to bring it back to a Batman and Robin level? They're talking about giving a posthumous Oscar to Heath Ledger! Why in the HELL are they trying to camp it up again? I say, if they're going to incorporate Catwoman, that they give the role to an Asian actress like Gong Li, since you hardly EVER see Asian women in any sort of major movie role. She's gorgeous, and I think she's sort of edgier. I'd be able to take her seriously in that role. We've just seen Angelina play that dark and sinister erotic vixen waaaaay too many times. Enough already.

I don't care for Catwoman, but if they're going to put the character in there, then NO! She does not deserve it. Someone else needs to get the role. I don't see why she has to get all the leading ones. iI'm not going to judge her acting abilities to the extent that many do, but seriously, what is she going to do? Just stare and look "sexy" the whole time? Puh-lease. Batman isn't about sexiness. Besides, doesn't she have enough money and fame?
No! I'm tired of her vamping it up in all her roles, can't she ever play a normal person? Agree 100% with Ernestine, this "exotic, tough vixen" role is getting very old. And, I know there are much more qualified actresses for something like this. They would make it campy like Halle did, not try to be too serious like Angie.

No one would give a hoot about Angelina if she wasn't with Brad & she knows it. She's trying to get all the media time she can while she's with him. I totally agree. I hate to say it but Angelina type women do not seem to look good in mother roles. Perhaps it is something about her look. Now, she can be a great mother, but she does not even look like she should have any children. And even if she does it has to be one boy, with long locks. I know I sound crazy but this is just my opinion.

Oh my God! I TOTALLY forgot about Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns -- and you're right. She OWNED that role. So, so, so good. I'd actually love it if Hollywood brought her back for that part -- I mean, my lord, she's still stunning, and we hardly ever see her in anything anymore.

I have never paid to see any of her movies. I don't care for her, in a movie or in person. I am not paying to write my comment here, and would not pay for a magazine that features her.
I personally do not think she is that great. There are plenty of actresses that are far more beautiful than she is, with far better talent.
Her talent lies in seducing men from their wives or girlfriends. Or perhaps making out with her look alike brother. He looks feminine, while she looks manly.
Jennifer Aniston is far more down to earth and pretty than Angie ever could be.

Actually, yes, I do get tired of Will with aliens. I thought about A Mighty Heart right after I posted this. Like I said - I could totally see her as Catwoman and I'm sure it'd be great. I REALLY liked the comedic moments in Mr & Mrs Smith, so maybe that's what I'd like more of because she's very capable of both action & humor together in one character. Maybe i didn't mean that I am tired of her playing in action movies - maybe it's just that her characters are so often these serious, barely crack a smile people.

I like Jolie. But I used to like her more. She is unconventional. I must say I used to like to much better in the past before this hook up with Brad. Something changed in her, she is less genuine, perhaps. I do have to say that perhaps with the exeption of Girl, Interrupted, Angelina's acting is weak. She most likely gave great performance because she was herself at the crossroads then, going through drugs and psychological difficulties. SO SHE BASICALLY PLAYED HERSELF. In every Angelina movie I do not see her character, I always see Angelina Jolie. Her Marianne Pearl was terrible and unconvincing. In front of me was Angelina Jolie with curled wig and dark color eye contacts.This is why she was best for action movies. I totally applaud her saving children, but it seems she is doing it more for us now than for herself. In fact I did not want to see Wanted because I see soccer mom Angelina as opposed to Wanted action hero. And yet she is not really a soccer mom. I think Angelina got tangled up in something and cannot get out of it. Besides, Billy Bob is so much better of an actor than former pretty boy Brad Pitt, and her union with him was more beneficial for her career.
Brad benefited her acting how? She got Rave reviews for a mighty heart. Rave reviews for Wanted. She is got Rave reviews for changling at cannies. That is her acting not Brad. Offcourse it never hurt to be with the gorgeous guy possible together they made one he*ll of a couple.But that actually hurts her also in a way she has gone through a lot just to be with him and viceversa. It brought so much jealosy.
She is very beliveable that what makes her acting great. I don't agree with "she played herself nonsense" we lost her in her characters like in Marian pearl. You know she only gave birth twice most of them in hollywood did or do. If they grab a kid or two like her they will be just the same. Lucy Lui? I forget, from Ally McBeal, and the show that just got cancelled, and Charlies Angels. She can kick ass, pull off creepy, ie, Kill Bill. And not be forty, like ahem, not to anger the loonies.
I've gotta agree with the critics, she just wouldn't pull it off (like Michelle Pfeiffer did). The only movie that she actually acted really well in was Girl Interrupted. I made the HUGE mistake of watching Alexander and that just killed it for me. She just doesn't attract me to watch her movies, i don't know what it is but i just don't find her acting appealing.

I am not an Angie lover or hater, just bored with the whole thing. She is really beautiful and is a good actress. However, some of my guy friends have dated women who behave the way she appears to behave - note that I said "appears." Of course, I do not really "know" her, so no need to correct me there. Anyway, women who behave the way she does - you know, acting like she is in it for the greater good of man, etc. is kinda old. She is just like so many other people she does what makes her look good. Again, I have many guy friends who have dated women like this and they act like they stick around to be a "good friend," humanitarian, or whatever fits the bill for that day. But really they ensure that things work out in their favor. I am sure that I will be called jealous or bitter, but I am just saying what is on my mind. I do not think Angie is a bad person, she just needs some new material...

They become so marketable that they become their own products. So when you see them in movies, you do not believe they are their characters, rather that they are still Brangelina. So, its not so much that she is a bad actress, she has just been stripped of the right to get into characters. Cause to be quite honest, I saw Wanted and it wasn't that entertaining. I happen to think Angelina would be an AMAZING catwoman! She has those gorgeous slanted eyes and she has both the intensity and the vulnerability to play the role. Whoever says she is not a good actress, although entitled to their opinion, has clearly not studied theatre or acting...You might not like the movies she chooses to do, however her craft is one which is fantastically amazing. I hope the best for her and her lovely family.
I have never liked Angelina, even before she hooked up with Pitt...I think if shes not playing a phychotic in a movie, she is not a good actress.. Shes a media ho, who pimps out her kids for cash..and then gives a small portion to charity..usually her own..I believe she traded one obsession..(drugs. blood carrying, and being extremely slutty on the red carpet) to collecting children. Her last few movies bombed...I wouldn't pay 10 cents to see one of her movies, or buy a mag with her babies in it...she won't get any of my American money, since she dislikes America so much she can't even have her bio kids here.

I find it amusing how people are going insane for something that isn't even in the works (yet). The script isn't even written yet and Catwoman may not even be in it. Angelina hasn't even been offered the role. People need to get a grip. Also Angelina has been doing charity work 4 or 5 years before meeting Brad. I don't understand why people pretend she started her work after dating him. Just because her profile is bigger now than before doesn't mean that's when it started.
Nothing against Angelina Jolie, but she doesn't really have a Catwoman vibe. She's not slinky enough. She seems a little too solid, stable. She can play reckless, dangerous, sensuous, but all in the wrong proportions for Catwoman; all the right pieces in the wrong order. Plus, there's a certain type of vulnerability to Catwoman that I don't think Angelina could quite pull off.
I can't honestly think of anyone to recommend for the part. Maybe someone less well known would have to step into the role and make it their own without the baggage of who we see them as off-screen or in other roles.
Michelle Pfeiffer really did sell the part, so there's a lot to live up to.

Totally agree Melissa. I don't like her because I don't like her.... I think she is a fake and can't act. I also think that her last few movies haven't had the box office draw they anticipated. All you have to do is look at those reports of who makes the money back for their pay. She isn't in the top 10. If I didn't like her because I was jealous I wouldn't be a fan of anyone because, on the outside at least, they all lead pretty fabulous lives.

I just dont see Angelina being able to play the frumpy character of Catwoman when not in Catwoman garb. I think it would depend on if it's a reprisal of Michelle Pfiefer's role, or if it's farther ahead, when Catwoman IS pure sex and grit... Either way, it'll be interesting to see if they even bring that role back, let alone who will play it...

Personally, I think Angelina Jolie would be FANTASTIC as Catwoman. Batman's Rogues Gallery of villains is iconic. Asian chicks? Megan Fox? Just my opinion but can you really imagine Lucy Liu or Megan Fox wearing the catsuit and believably go toe-to-toe with Batman? He is one of the baddest mofos in all of comics and to quote Mr. Ledger from the movie, Batman "deserves a better class of villain". Angelina Jolie in the catsuit smirking at Batman while he's staring her down? You bet your *** she's not afraid of him. You can't possibly make the argument about acting skills. Love or hate Angelina's acting style and level of success but last I checked, she does have an academy award to show for it which is more than I can say for some of the other actresses mentioned here. But again, this is all just my two cents on the matter. If I had to pick another actress who I think would be good, I think Ashley Judd would be great also. But if I had to guess on what Chris Nolan would do... I would guess he would cast someone nobody could imagine as Catwoman. It worked out pretty well with his take on the Joker.
