Christian Bale Arrested For Assault

What?!? Wait, let me just say that again...WHAT?!?
I cannot even believe this. Christian Bale has been arrested for assault, supposedly, after charges were filed by his mother and sister. He "lashed out" at them on Sunday and they took things down to the London police station.
“A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning, by appointment, and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault," a police spokesman told PEOPLE. "He is currently in custody.”
Shocked...
*Update: Christian has been released and will return to the police station for further inquiry in September.

Under a little bit of pressure from the movie coming out, having to do all those premieres and having the paps suddenly follow you and your family around EVERYWHERE, maybe???? Not that that's an excuse.... but we don't really know what happened leading up to the confrontation - or what exactly 'lashing out' entails. Maybe he just got really mad and yelled..... who knows? Sad.

Way to jump to the conclusion that he's automatically at fault without ANY details released. Not defending, but smart enough to remain neutral until we hear anything at all about the circumstances and what allegedly happened.

I don't believe this. As far I know, his mother passed years ago. I won't believe this until I see more confirmation.
I heard that his mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. they were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian is the victim here not his mom or sister
I'm so glad you said this. I did not want to believe any of that crap!!!

Vera, I had the same reaction, shocked! Not that I know Bale, obviously, but it just seems so unexpected from him. I really hope that the details will show this is just a mis-understanding or something!

This is wild. American Psycho lives! Seriously, I really hope it's not true, he's one of my favorite actors and it would be so disappointing if it were true.
def. could not be him. although he does seem stressed AND thin these days..well anywho, i hope this gets cleared up. he doesnt deserve this. i wanna believe the stories where his mother and sister are at fault =(

I'm taking this with a grain of salt- don't any of you find it odd that this was done to him at a time that his career has never been better? Straight after his movie broke all those records etc? I don't know- something just doesn't seem right.... We will see.

rumors online state that his mother and sister are low life's who went to the hotel and demanded to be let into his room when he was out. The hotel staff refused, the family began a scene, and then they camped out and waited for christian to come back. When he did, they began verbally assaulting him and told him that he thinks he's a bigshot now, and that he "owes" them. Take care of your own, they apparently said. They shoved him or something, and when he tried to move one of them, or was self defensive, they went to the cops. The next day, I might add. This guy didn't do anything wrong, I'm pretty much sure of it. Money is the root of all evil. Why would he assault his own mother on the same night as his London premiere? Give me a break. Lying wenches.
I never paid any attention to him until the dark knight, which i have been dragged to 3 times already lol. I hope it's not true, I really wanted to like him. He's from Wales which is where my dad is from.

I hope this is not true. sigh. I hope his mom 'over reacted' about something and it will all go away and once again be kittens and sunshine!!!!!!! I like him.

This just sounds weird, I'm sure we will hear more details. I didn't think he was close with his mom. I only ever hear about his father who passed away a few years ago.
I just about fell off my chair when I read that this morning. The irony of it--Gloria Steniem being his stepmother! And his dad was a very cool guy. It's true. Still waters run deep. He's always seemed so quiet and put together. I guess now we know, eh.
Oh puh-lease... he's a big movie star now so some people are trying to benefit from that. Lets ruin his life so we can get 3 seconds of the limelight and some money as well. So stupid.
