Tom Cruise Doing Top Gun Sequel

Tom Cruise may be coming back for a sequel of his hit movie Top Gun. I mean, only 22 years later, but who's counting.
Sources say that the script is written and ready to go, and now they're just waiting on Tom to say yes.
An insider said: “The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor — and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”
If he does agree, could this be as huge as the original?

Personally I am tired of them trying to resurrect the good "oldies". Some things are better left alone. The seconds hardly ever come close to touching the greatness that was the original.
Ah, man! The original was AWESOME!!! I had the poster of Maverick up in my room! I realize this ages me... I don't think the sequel will be as good as the original, but who knows? I'd see it!

Actually, the plot doesn't sound too bad. At least they would be making him age appropriate, and it would be fun to see a Top Gun with a female pilot. Unfortunately, I don't think it would go over all that well. It smacks just a little too much of desperation when older stars re-make the movies that made them famous in their prime.
No, it won't do as good, it will be a big joke. Tom was at the height of his popularity then, everyone loved him. Now, he's a late-night talk show punch line. He's lost most of his credibility, and is too weird for people to embrace anymore. Also, I think most of us are sick and tired of remakes and sequels (that are 20 yrs too late) and are ready for something original to come out of Hollywood.

i saw somewhere he was wearing specials shoes that make him taller.... and surely katie is also helping by making herself look shorter

Oh okay, this one will include the guy when he retires from the military, gets fat, joins a cult, and then goes crazy. Why not just make a story about his real life? I won't go see either.
Ok. i wouldnt pay any money to watch a movie with this creep in it, much less when Im OUT to the movies trying to have a good time and be entertained.... correction .... i wouldnt watch it even if it was free.
I will probably never be able to watch a movie with him in it again where I don't constantly have his crazy personal life in the back of my mind the entire time. Making a sequel to Top Gun would be pathetic and they'd probably cast someone predictable and gag-worthy like Megan Fox as the female pilot. You know, someone who is almost 25 years his junior.
Yeah, and the six people who went to see Jessica Simpsons movie will be at his premiere. Like anyone wants to see ANYTHING from this alien-lovin' freak!

HA! To think someone even considered such a script. And Tom is probably patting himself on the back thinking he's the hottest thing going and people want Maverick back. Nothing sexy left about Tom. I'd love to see him give it a try though, just to see what a train wreck it would become.
TC denies this as rumors. He never wanted Top Gun 2 eversince. Love TomKat all the way....
He's one amazing actor same with Katie. Also so hot with the best personality out there most of all a devoted husband and dad to his family. He is good to fans and even the annoying paps. Im anti remakes on TV and movies in general. It ruins when a tv or movie goes out on top form.
So happy for them and wish their union will last. No more Top Gun though because the F-14 tomcats are retired.
About Tom looking taller than Katie: I've noticed that his shoes have incredibly high arches/insteps. And his pants don't quite break at the right place when they hit his shoes. I've probably devoted way too much time to this :) but it looks like the outside of his shoes are constructed to look like regular shoes while his feet are actually in high heels. If you look at full-length pictures of him, especially when he is in dress shoes and suits and standing next to Katie, you will see what I mean. I can only imagine the time he would have to spend practicing to walk around in shoes like that and still appear normal, if it is true.
Oh, another thing - I read a about a year ago that Tom has a contract with a photo agency, and also with People magazine, that he will allow them to take pictures of him but they have to doctor the photos first to make him appear taller. This photo above looks very strange, like the images were cut out of other pictures and put in place. There is a sharp outline around each of them and their heads and faces appear elongated. Very bad photoshop job. And I have seen pictures that were published in People magazine placed alongside other pictures from other photographers at the same event, and it was obvious the People photos were doctored to make Tom appear taller than Katie
