Who would have guessed? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt supposedly conceived twins, Vivienne and Knox, through in-vitro fertilization. And this is coming from UsWeekly, which is a pretty reliable source.
"They conceived through in vitro fertilization," a well-placed source within their camp tells Us. "They both desperately wanted more babies soon."
Angelina's chance of having twins at age 33 is below 1%.
The actress chose the procedure (which can cost around $12,000 a pop)
so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get
pregnant," the source tells Us. "She could just knock it out."A source adds: "They were too impatient."

i wrote that when she was pregnant, too. we had a lot of discussion going on about having an ed and trying to get pregnant. if your body has little to nothing left to give it's quite hard to spare and give the base for a new life in you.
I wonder what happened to the un-used fetuses? In the lab more than two are created, so they either threw those ones away, or they are on ice somewhere.
I dont' buy anything US prints but this one is a bit more beliveable than most of their stories. Furthermore so what ,she already has her babies.

I too thought it was odd she had twins. I'm curious to see how these children develop into adults. Right now all I can see are two people who had a rushed relationship while one of them was still married. And all of these children they keep having/adopting are tossed in because the parents want kids so badly (for reasons that are none of our business). Whatever happened to romance? Can anyone with a lot of kids explain how this relationship will work?

Well, there is a point I can understand: it can be difficult to have many children at the same time, but having low age differences between them can be good on the long term, for bonding and other good matters :) J.

Good for them,, they are adults with the right to make decisions regarding their life and family with out out side influence.. I love how they live their life to the fullest with losts of love and compassion. Hope they last forever,, and continue to have a successful happy life..

Why does it matter and why is it odd that she had twins? I never believe the tabloid rags unless it's a personal quote from the actual person. Women under 33 can have twins naturally ( I just did at age 32). Even if she did conceive thru IVF who's to say there wasn't a good reason for it? Who knows if after having Shiloh, her cycles got out of wack and they were having issues conceiving. I honestly don't think it matters. Good luck and congrats to them.
Victoria - you are correct, we already knew this. I either saw it in an interview or read it in a magazine that they had more difficulty conceiving this time round so they used in-vitro.

this clearly shows an addictive behavior... sure with money and all anything can be done even doctors can be bought. if they were truly a normal couple all of these children would have come eventually, gradually, planned. But all those children seem to be picked up out impulsively. Wonder how Pitt fills of just being the Sperm donor.
There is NOTHING wrong with having a large family. Even BEFORE Brad met Angelina he talked about wanting seven kids someday.

Just had a thought: perhaps they in-vitro-ed 4 month old fetuses. I can't figure out any other way that they were able to hide this pregnancy so long and then she was very bump-y right when they announced it. This would also allow her to miss most of that 1st trimester puking and fatigue.....

Apparently twins in the family only have an effect if they occur in the mother's family. The father doesn't have any influence on that. So it's a girl thing. However, since the father defines the sex of the baby(s), I guess that's okay ;) and pretty great too, I would say.

Hm, how is the chance of having twins at the age of 33 below 1%. I'm curious about that. Also, how high is the chance of having twins at a younger age? Does anyone know?? I just googled a bit around and found this article of an Austrian twin specialist saying that the chance of having fraternal twins is actually highest between the age of 34 and 39, if the mother has already had a child or more. The reason is a higher production of the folicle stimulating hormone FSH that results in two ova maturing instead of only one. hope my translation made sense. So it could have happened naturally as well. Kinda interesting this topic. I'm still wondering how high the chances of having twins are at a younger age. if anyone knows, thanks!
The odds of having twins naturally increases with age. This is because women in their mid-30's can start to release more than one egg each month because of perimenopause. So the odds of having twins for a woman under age 35 is pretty low...unless twins run in her family or she has already given birth to twins. Or she's using fertility treatments. (hint hint)

I've been thinking about this as well. Is the percentage of having twins naturally going up (esp. among celebrities)? Or is it only through in vitro that it occurs and we just don't hear about it from others. Not that it's any of our business, really, but maybe AJ & BP are just being up front about it (IF it's true). Another interview, anything to get them in the magazines...
so i'm guessing in a couple of weeks they'll be buying a new kid from some third world country...why are they in such a freaking hurry

This is unbelievable and extremely disturbing. How dare they abuse a procedure like in-vitro, which was developed to help those who may not otherwise be able to reproduce?? They are disgusting and for those of you think that she is some "saint" for adopting these children, you are sadly mistaken. She treats "purchasing" children like wanting a new handbag. I am disgusted by them and this entire thing.
I think you are just jealous. Who cares what they do. They have plenty of money and I think adopting is a great thing. How do you really know what she is doing in her personal life. Are we there? No! Actually In-Vitro increases the risk of ovarian cancer. Angelina's mother died from ovarian cancer last year, so why would a doctor do such a procedure on someone with a history of the cancer in their family?

It does seem unlikely that Angelina would conceive twins due to her age and being so underweight. It seems to me that Angelina appears to do what is right and to be very "open" to things, but very often it later surfaces that much of what she does is very calculated and planned. I do not have hatred for her, as many others do, but there is something very insincere about her. Hmm...she doesn't mind a big family, so she is open to the prospect of twins, yet she had IVF and would easily just act as though it happened naturally...while her fans wait with baited breath. Ridiculous!

Well, as a woman who just went through her 3rd IVF because of medical reasons, and is successfully pregnant with twins, and I feel that any woman who chooses to do IVF doesn't have to explain herself. Its HER choice, her owm journey, and judge a woman on that is pretty low & debased...

nowaday we have baby boom but also twins boom! I only remember patrick dempsey's wife, marcia cross, j.lo, and now angelina jolie... it's a fashion thing. But having twins is also more amazing... yes, it's stressfull but twins have a special connection! I baby sitting a twins girls and they are just amazing, funny, they are 2 years old now and they are so sweet between them... so enjoy your twins Angie, and Brad!!
So basically, like everything else they do, they bought themselves more props to use for staged PR shoots. No doubt they had to use IVF because they sure to hell don't look like they sleep together anymore. Pitt couldn't look more disinterested in her if he tried. Imo this just validates the rumors about their fake relationship and now I'm actually wondering if she was the one who even carried the babies. i think its natural cause brads sister has twins too. and it's totally normal for women to have twins my friend just had twin girls naturally at age 27 and no one in her family or his has twins. it has to start somewhere. :)

I can't believe that so many people are so stupid as to believe this story. It doesn't make sense. People should do some research before making lame comments. Invitro is not a simple, quick process and is very stressful on the mind and body. So saying Angelina "wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant," and "she could just knock it out" is absolute false. Thin people can get pregnant. Look at Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman. They are some of the thinnest people in Hollywood and nobody is saying they had invitro. People of twins naturally all of the time. I don't get why Angelina can't. Puff Daddy just had twin girls. I can't picture him wanting invitro.

Kidman had IVF. I am not judging either woman, or any woman for having a baby, no matter how they did it. But you said no one is saying, and no, most ARE saying. Nicole couldn't get pregnant with the Alien, but did with Urban, after reportedly trying for some time. Most with money who try for a long time try IVF.
Her womb is so toxic that the babies couldn't be conceived in all the waste matter that is there.

The real reason for the IVF was they didn't want to risk another Shiloh fiasco. You know, a baby that looks like hideous Angelina. They used donor eggs and Brad's exquisite sprem and (hopefully) they'll have a more attractive results this time around cutting Angelina out of the picture for all but the "carrying" part of it.
