Anyways, I think this is disrespectful of the Hindu culture and portrays it as comical and absurd.
Natalie Portman, who I actually thought is more intelligent and broadminded than other Hollywood stars, disappoints me. It makes a joke out of everything.
That being said, Natalie Portman could do much better.
Ernestine said: That's a good point. I don't know anything about Bollywood, admittedly; I just thought that Devendra was trying to spoof the Indian movie industry. Anyway, I just did a teaching presentation on different types of mythologies, and I included a Norse myth, a Greek myth, one Cherokee creation myth and one Aboriginal creation myth. I sort of felt weird about talking about Indigenous traditions in that way, because it discounts the verity of what THEY believe, and I deeply respect them, you know?I was about to talk about Hinduism a little, but then I stopped because it's EVERY BIT as valid as Christianity, and in our culture, you can't make fun of/question the Bible without getting, ahem, totally crucified. Personally, I think Hinduism is an absolutely beautiful tradition that makes a lot of sense. I wonder if a lot of other people have issues with this video?

JenneD said: Ok. Sometimes I wonder if the translations are what they're really saying. At one point during the video..Natalie said..."grandma, I love you in a salad way." I mean, that's what the translation said. Maybe that's a cultural thing? I don't know. But I'm greatly amused. LMAO And that's the bizarrest thing I've seen in a while.

Bizarre.

By the way, the subtitles are not a translation of the lyrics.
I personally think the music is great and the video is great. Natalie's impressions are funny!
Huh?? Bizarre.
she is sooo beautiful....they make a great couple!!!

I would like to bath in the milk of Natalie Portman's sacred teat....,
it seem like they're making fun of the Hindu!

I had the same thought about being it being disrespectful when I saw it.
