Last night I attended a cooking demonstration with Katie Lee Joel at the Viking School in town. She was as sweet as can be and really inspired me to start cooking again. You know how it is – you work, have children and have to deal with day to day errands. The meaning of cooking suddenly becomes pasta and jar sauce without even thinking about it! Katie had SUCH a love for food that it made me want to run home and make her peach cobbler.
And don’t get me started on her fried green tomatoes!
I purchased two copies of her cookbook, The Comfort Table
I have a ton of quotes from her about Billy Joel which I will get together tomorrow morning to post. But for now, let’s just do the giveaway.

Ohh I love Billy Joel. Saw him at Shea last Wed night and he was fantastic… Don’t know much about Katie really. I did she her on some tv show and seemed really sweet. I wouldn’t mind taking that cookbook off your hands. I just moved in with my bf a few months ago and cook almost every night. Ooh fun! I just got married 6 months ago, so I am still trying to learn how to cook things. One of my favorite cook books is called “How To Boil Water” lol but it’s fabulous for beginer cooks. It explains the different type of meat, where things should go in the fridge, knives, EVERYTHING, PLUS recipe’s! It’s great! I got it at Target a while ago.
Anyway, this cookbook would be a good addition to my growing collection.

Hey Vera! This is my first post. I have always wanted to enter your giveaways but have never truly wanted anything. This one is different. I would love to win this cookbook. About nine months ago, I started cooking. Began with the basics (spaghetti and meatballs, seasoning chicken etc) and am slowly moving in to more detailed recipes. I don’t have any recent cookbooks so The Comort Table would be a nice addition to my printed out recipes. Making Fried Green Tomatoes and Peach Cobbler sounds great especially since I’m a southern girl. Anyways, thanks for giving away a cookbook!

I also saw her on Oprah when she was preparing a meat loaf. I thought it was so easy to make and tried it for a family event. Everyone loved it. since then I had to make at least 4 times. One time for a big party with 60 people, and it was the first to be gone from the plates.

I got married a few years ago and conceived our first child six months later. Being married was never in my plans! My plans were to hop from exotic resort to exotic resort as a Massage Therapist! Now its years later, and although I finished school the only thing I’ll likely be kneading is bread – if I learn to make it! I never saw myself as domestic, yet I’m now a SAHM.
My husband and I have always eaten separate meals, I wonder if I started cooking these comfort foods if we’d share a meal here and there!

I am admittantly, a very bad cook. I had a wonderful mother who did absolutely everything for us, so when it came time to move out, all six of us were woefully unprepared. Having kids of my own now has sent me back to mom for cooking lessons. I’ve found it to be alot of fun! This would be great in getting some new ideas for dinner! Thanks for the great contest!
