Is this a joke? The child was born July 18th and Ethan Hawke's wife, Ryan Shawhughes, is walking around the streets of Manhattan with Clemintine in her arms sans sling, uncovered for all the world to see. She knows the paparazzi are going to be looking out for the money shot.This feels so desperate to me.
Look at me guys! Here's my baby! Take a picture! I'm the nanny!!

I really don't think that she is trying to flaunt her baby (but what mother isn't proud). I just think she's trying to live her life as if the paparrazzi aren't there. And in reality it's the paps that are exploiting the children - the parents are always in a mad scramble to cover their children.

Shame on the "gossip." By having the baby photographed so easily, the photos become worth less money and, eventually, the paps move on to a new target. Several other celebrities have done similar stunts in the past to ensure future privacy for their children.

If no one has seen the baby the pictures are worth TONS of money, that means photographers STALK them and get creppy following them everywhere. Now that the baby has been seen, the photos of the baby are worth a fraction of what they were and now they will also have only a fraction of the photographers following them around.

I totally agree. also, what is wrong with walking around the neighboorhood and holding the baby. maybe the little one was crying and she calmed her down or she is just really happy with the kid and wanted to hold her. I don't see anything that's wrong with her behavior.
I agree as well! If most celebs would just go out for a walk for a few days after their kids are born, the pap attention would quickly abate. If everyone can get pics, or everyones already seen pics, theres no big demand anymore. I dont really know anything about the dissolution of his marriage to Uma, but I have read they didn't get involved (him and the nanny) for quite a while after the divorce. So we dont know that anyone cheated. Also, quite a few hollywood stars have shackedup/married their nanny's. Robin Williams is one of them. Guess thats a natural thing when you have a live-in nanny that you see and talk to all the time.

I am glad to finally see a picture of Ethan looking hot again. I used to love him back in high school, but then after the whole divorce thing most of his pictures looked pretty bad. So thank you for that. I'm sad him and Uma didn't work out, but they're just one couple of many and I hope they'll both be happy in their new relationships. Grats on the cute baby!
Its not desperate at all, restating what is said up there if she shows the baby off then nobody gets a paycheck for it. It's not an exclusive. Then they move on.

Yeah, that's true! Take Halle for instance, she's hidden her baby from us for too long and some people are hating on her for hiding the child. Others, who take out their baby before any pictures are printed get hated on for seeming to desperate, as Vera stated.

What about decency and marriage vows and respecting someone else's homelife by not shagging their husband. She's nasty, he is too, they deserve each other. Ethan isn't all that anymore, pimping his baby isn't for future privacy, it's hoping he gets in on the celebrity baby fame bandwagon and it fluffs his image a little.

Actually this is a very good idea. Most people go out with their children in a week or so. They are not selling pictures and so everyone knows that these shots are cheap and after a few shots the paps will get tired and move on. Smart idea. Also Vera you used to be always quite nice but lately you seem to be changing and saying more rude things. I really liked the nice and get rude on every other site so please don't change. Going out on the street with your child is not an act of desperation.

Please...I've seen tons of mothers take their newborns out to lunch & dinner in loud & overly crowded venues. This is nothing new.
I wouldn't do it but tons of mother do.
I am 57 years old and have met thousands of people. I have never seen a physically ugly person in my life although I have met many ugly people. Think about it. Those who are quick to make those ugly comments are themselves ugliness personified. I don't care if you yourself are gorgeous with no flaws. Look beyond your mirror to your heart. She looks like a proud and happy mom.

I think it's GENIUS for them to walk with that baby out in the open! Now maybe all the paps will leave them alone. Now they won't have paps in CAMO up in TREES looking for the money shot!!! I think more hollywood couples should do this, maybe they'd have less probs with paps! but that's just my opinion :D

Perhaps she's just a normal girl who wanted to show off her daughter. She is showing her to friends. It's a part of her life that pap's follow her. She doesn't seem to care. Good for her!

This is her newborn baby and she has the right to walk down the street to get her baby some diapers. 2) "This feels so desperate to me." Why? Because she's living her life and ignoring the paps? Asking to be paid to take a picture of a baby who has no say in the matter, for the parents' own ego and publicity...now that's desperate. 3) ..."uncovered for all the world to see" Since when are babies supposed to be covered up at all times? Whoever wrote this post should rethink their intentions. This post really left a bad taste in my mouth.
One more thing...when you frame a post so negatively, don't be surprised that the comments are just as negative.

I have nothing against the baby. She is a pretty thing, but I don't care. A man cheats on his wife with the woman entrusted to care for their children. Then he impregnates and marries her. She is pysically trashy and morally. The whole thing disgusts me. There should be a fine or jail time for nasty cheaters. It ruins families and lives.
