The Next Sex And The City Movie Will Be All About... Samantha!

Hold onto your seats ladies because this rumor is getting me excited. Hey! If the X-Men can split up and each have individual movies made about them... why not the Sex and the City ladies?
RUMOR is that Kim Cattrall's character is set to STAR in the next Sex and the City movie after approaching producers with the idea that Samantha should take the lead! I'm getting giddy just writing about this. Samantha's back! We learned that towards the end of the movie. The options are limitless.
If this is true, then Carrie and Big will be pushed off to the side probably living out a happy life in marital bliss while Samantha makes an attempt to get back on track. One co-star isn't rumored to be too happy with the decision... Sarah Jessica Parker.
"Sarah threatened to boycott the sequel if Warner Brothers agreed to Kim's plan. Sarah said she'd withdraw her producer credit and put pressure on Cynthia Nixon and Kirstin Davis to not participate."
If Sarah really doesn't want this to happen... odds are it won't.
"Sarah is in the driver's seat as far as having final say on the sequel and the storylines."
Only time will tell... or a rep confirmation. But I'm banking on time.
AND I HAVE ONE BIG SPOILER RUMOR IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. Click on the continue reading link below to find out what it is...
Miranda's character will figure out that she is a lesbian in the next movie. Cynthia Nixon is gay in real life so it's all very art imitating life isn't it?

I doubt this will happen. The show centered around Carrie Bradshaw and her column. It was about her, her friendships, reltationships and NYC. It wouldn't be the same if Samantha took lead. I don't know, I don't like the concept. And although I loved the movie, I'm not sure how they would take it to the next level with another movie. What would it be about? They all found love and happiness, what more is there to tell?

I don't mind the idea of Samantha being in the lead as long as the other characters have some good screen time. I think that Samantha grew a lot in the series and the movie kinda ruined it so I'm not sure I will enjoy it if she's back to her old tricks. I really hate the idea that Miranda realizes that she's gay only because that means that she won't live happily ever after with Steve. I love Steve he's the best male character in the whole series and it makes me sad that he would have to deal with losing Miranda again. I"m ridiculous I"m getting sad over the possible plot twists of a movie that may never happen lol.

I agree. Steve is the best. They can't ruin it for him again... that would be cruel.
That is so lame!!! Why does it always have to be like that? Couldn't Miranda just be happy with what she's got? I mean, is it necessary to bring in Cynthia's personal life into the plot? Talk about NO IMAGINATION people!
Why the hell not?? Why cant it center around Samantha??? Her character has been through so much with breast cancer. If that is true what SJP said I lost all respect for her! Sex adn the City would not have made it without SAMANTHA, MIRANDA and CHARLOTTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As much as I LOVE Sex & the City, I don't think they should do a sequel to the movie. It ended on such a positive note that they should leave well enough alone.
No way - I'm not buying that about Miranda. There was already an episode where Miranda went down the path of being a lesbian and it wasn't happening. I think this is all rumor. I also agree w/ the above poster that SATC is all about Carrie.
I can't see Michael Patrick King going along with this....all of it!

I highly doubt this, too.
SJP will never go for this!
SJP needs to get over herself Samantha is one of the reason Sex and the City was so successful. They should divide equal time to all the girls.
Of course,i understand that Carrie was the main character it wasn't like Friends.

Too many egos on this show!!! At least Kim is standing up for herself. I saw her at an airport once and she was so nice to everyone....but she looked REALLY thin. I think she could carry a movie on her own. SJP should relax.
The first movie was so dreadfully awful. Why would they make another one?

Wow. I haven't been able to see the movie yet. I have a small child and can't get a sitter very often so I was planning on renting it.
Thanks for ruining the whole Carrie/Big wedding thing Vera. I was waiting to see the movie to find out if the wedding was legit or a dream. Perhaps you should post THAT under a spoiler heading too.

Don't worry... it's not completely ruined. A lot of fascinating stuff happens in the movie. You'll like it anyway.
I haven't seen it either and really had avoided the twists and plot until I carelessly read this little post.
It would of been nice to give your readers a heads up on the marriage thing.

I agree with you. I've seen the movie, but when I read that I was thinking about everyone who hasn't seen it yet. That should not have been posted without a little warning. But don't worry. Like Ellie said, there's a lot more that happens too.

Oh gosh... Miranda and the lesbian thing is taking it too far. They already went over that with the Sam character and it didn't work. Why try again? I wish they would all stop arguing and just do the movie together... though I don't see what else they have left to write about when the first movie ended so well.

Kim's getting a bit long in the tooth for this isn't she?
JUST what I always wanted to see...grandma running around having sexy time with every guy in town.
Give me a break! The movie has been out for more than 2 months!! If you haven't seen it by now, then forget it. There's no "spoiler" info this long after the fact! If you didn't want to know anything about it, why are you reading articles about the SEQUEL when you haven't seen the ORIGINAL yet?!
My thoughts exactly. Bloggers only have a maximum 2 week spoiler alert requirement :)
don't you mean life imitating art?

SAMANTHA WAS ALWAYS MY FAV CHARACTER! YAY!
Sammy is my fav. character also. It would be nice to see her in the lead for a change. Sammy is more exciting and outrageous to watch than Carrie. Actually, Carrie is pretty boring.

NOOOOOO! Miranda can't come out as a Lesbian...I love the Miranda and Steve relationship! They've been together for too long and gone through so much to just let that relationship fail....i hope this is only a rumor.
if that is true then sarah needs to stop being a bitch. I am a huge fan of hers, but seriously she already got emmy, a movie and a clothing line out of being on sex and the city. carrie's storyline is up! if she were smart she would get them to make her exec producer of samatha's movie and really make some money!

OH, I'd love a sequel with Samantha as the centre of it! She's always been my favourite girl. SJP should just go with it and switch her "diva-ness" to low.
As for the Miranda lesbian thing, I'm not sold on it.
WILL IT BE ABOUT AN OLD BAG WHO IS FAT AND NOT AGING WELL..WHAT A FUCKING WASTE OF FILM...PUT THESE OLD HAGS OUT TO THE PASTURE AND PUT THEM DOWN!!
I would go see that, but we know SJP won't let it happen...especially since she apparently flipped out when Kim's character became more popular when the show was still on.
Samantha was always my favorite character and seriously the only reason I tuned into the show every week. Carrie and the others always annoyed me.
Good for Kim if she gets this off the ground, she's a good actress and deserves to be on top...no pun intended.

I don't believe it at all. I think people are just back to trying to fuel the rumors of SJP & Kim not getting along/having power struggles. And honestly, I don't think it'd be as big of a draw. I love the character of Samantha but I wouldn't watch an entire movie that featured her as the lead. And I think about the recent rumors of SJP's hubby cheating, etc. It seems the media is just out to attack her relentlessly. They try to make her seem like a big witch all the time. :(
I loved the show and had a GREAT girls night out on openning night with my best friend, went sushi and drinks, then movie.
Loved how everything was well planned out. Loved how much grows Miranda had, how much she appreciated her marriage, family and love at the end. Nothing aganist having someone gay at the show. But I would hate to have this picture of Miranda's not so perfect but EXTREMELY in love family destroy.
Don't agree at all!!!
I loved the show but was not very impressed with the movie. Although I do love Samantha and Kim Cattrall, I hope that they don't make another movie because I don't think they can do much more with her character that we haven't already seen. I don't believe the Miranda rumour, it would not fit her character, who has had A LOT of sex with men. I mean, really she would have known by now if she was gay!
I would love this to happen. Samantha got the shaft in the movie. Wait, my problem is that Samantha DIDN'T get the shaft in the movie. Why the F--- didn't she do the neighbor? What a waste of an R rating.
I would not go see the movie if it was about Samantha!
I don't think the last movie did Samantha justice. A movie centered around her would probably be better than the first. Samantha-centric episodes were always my favorite.

The Carrie character has become a little stale - I would love to see the other ladies get more of the spotlight and Samantha is very exciting! SJP needs a reality check.
okay, okay...i have to comment here. funny this subject should come up at time like this. i just saw the SOTC movie last week...however, the movie completely supported my beliefs from watching the series. i feel that samantha is the best character, the funniest and the nicest. who fed carrie when she was lost in the sheets of her hotel in cancun, on what was supposed to be her honeymoon? samantha is not very 'girly' but she is compassionate and knows how to get things done and no i am not just referring to sex. i love her lack of feminine wiles and bs. best character in my opinion : )
While it was great to have "the girls" back via the movie and watching it was fun, is there really anything left to be covered? Even the TV series was becoming a bit silly at the end when Carrie gave up everything she stood for and had worked for to follow that egotistical artist to Paris. And then Big went and saved her... The movie finished on a relatively high note with all girls happy where they were. Some of the story lines for a sequel being floated in the above article sound just plain ridiculous. Isn't it better to end while on top than keep flogging a good thing for all it's worth, and in doing so, reducing it to a farce?
I think it's so-giggle/lol-funny that anyone would be able to suspend disbelief through the duration of this series and actually pay money to see the movie.
There are hardly any single straight men in NYC who have enough money to satisfy the Carrie character. They would have no interest in a materialistic bitch who looks like a barely passable tranny.
The idea that this shit somehow "empowers" women is ludicrous. OK, maybe it empowers women to have the courage to be materialistic, self obsessed bitches. One more point for the death of values (and I'm not talking "Christian values" either-yuk).
Hate much??? Sometimes crazy people get together, write a story, act it out and film it- it's called a movie. PSSST- it's not real!!!
Deb and I almost pissed ourselves!!
I sure hope not! Samantha was such a slut on the show..well they all were but she takes the cake! I love Carrie and there needs to be no sequel period!
