While it may sound like an oxymoron, Helen Mirren insists you can have your cake and eat it too. She says she was the good girl who did drugs.
"I was always a good girl. I always showed up on time. I was never ever late. I never got drunk. I did drugs but only on my own time, not when I was working."
I guess no one is going to fault her even if she does admit to having a bit of a wild past with the kind of track record she’s got going for her…Oscar, SAG Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys…she must have a giant trophy room!

So you can’t be a ‘good girl’ if you do drugs but you can be a good girl if you get drunk, fall down and gt DUI’s? If she did drugs I guess she stayed in her own home and never caused anyone harm. What about today’s young starlets-in and out of jail, rehab etc. Helen is so beautiful!!

Oxymoron–for sure! I don’t know of ANY “good girls” who did drugs! LOL!
She didn’t explain WHAT drugs she was talking about. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t go out often, I have great marks – but when I have free time (i.e. twice a year –’) I rock it all over. No consequences.
I guess all celebs did, done, or is doing drugs. I guess its the norm when you are a celeb. I will not be surprised of who else in hollywood has a drug use history.

Why do people feel the need to reveal these negative things to the public? Maybe she should go around to schools and tell children to do their drugs responsibly. Revolting!
I was thinking the same thing. Some things need to be kept private. People need boundaries!
I’m assuming that Helen means she never did anything more hardcore than marijuana. I smoked some pot in university and still got A’s and served on the student union. So I know what she’s talking about. I think marijuana CAN be used responsibly, just the same as alcohol. You can’t tell me you’d be okay with your undeniably responsible, well-behaved, intelligent child having a couple of drinks at a college party, but you’d go ballistic if s/he had a drag of somebody else’s doobie! That’s just a stupid double standard.

I so love Helen. Has anyone seen her in this movie? I think the title is
The Cook, His Wife Her Lover or those words re arranged? She ends up serving her roasted naked lover to her husband at their fancy restaurant.
I looked it up, this is the proper title……The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover……..its quite the movie!!
Greeeney, that movie is amazing! I saw it long ago, but I didn’t know Helen back then so I couldn’t remember she was the wife. Excellent film.
